The rescue early Friday in Montgomery was captured in part on body camera video. In the video, a deputy is seen calling out to the children, who were accompanied by a volunteer who had found the trio.

    • @@thomasfoster2 No, they don't let civilians search at night, because of the dangers and then they would have to look for two people instead of one. You should think about going to the hundreds of anti cop and police hating channels if you want to bash the police. You will find lots of friends (thugs, criminals, and POS) there.

    • @@IcyBlueii They had the National Guard, police, volunteer dog trackers, and helicopters out here for 5 days looking for a lost boy. The idiots running the show, in their effeminate voices, told me and my buddies, who have been hunting the area all our lives, that we would have to go buy Patagonia clothing before we would be allowed to help. So ridiculous. Anyway, we didn't listen to them, split up into two groups, and headed out that same night we arrived at camp. Three of my buddies found him at daybreak and got their pictures in the paper. First rule, never stop locals from searching. Second rule, never believe that police are more capable than anyone else. Most of them are uneducated and out of shape.

  • I got lost as a child once, not in the woods it was in a big city and, this teenager found me crying behind a dumpster and he took my hand and said, I'm going to get you home buddy, it's alright. He spent 4 hours with me helping get me to a police station where they were able to figure out my mother's phone number and get me back to her. I don't remember his name or even why he decided to help me but, if not for him I don't know what would have happened to me. Thanks to people like him there are so many young lives saved.

The do-gooder then called 911 and alerted authorities that he had found the children. The man told police that he preferred to remain anonymous as he want any public attention or praise for the good deed. Neighbors who know the man told officers that 'he's a quiet guy but always helpful.'

  • This reminds me of an incident where I used to live. The lost boy, who was about 8, was a city kid who was lost all night in the woods. When the uniformed searchers found him, he didn't want to go with them because he had been taught not to go with strangers. One of the searchers told him they were going to take him to his mother. He replied, "How do I know you know my mother?" Street smarts all over the place. They got his mother on the radio who told him it was OK to go with the rescuers. No matter how scared he had to have been, he didn't forget what he was not supposed to do.

  • This was before bodycams but when I was 6 or 7, I had a babysitter in Crescent City, CA (not a particularly good one btw) who took us all out on a hike in the woods. We had no buddy system; reflective clothing, any distinct line or path to follow, really nothing. She just kinda let us all roam around while she sat on a log and smoked pot. I was a rambunctious child who was always getting into trouble, so a friend and I just ran off in one direction away from them and went DEEP into the woods. We found a little pond to swim around in and throw mud at each other, completely forgetting or caring about the babysitter or the rest of the kids. Just played around for hours. My Mom worked at Pelican Bay as a prison guard and was a VERY scary lady when she was provoked to be one (she was a great mother, nothing abusive) and I eventually see a SWARM of prison guards; CHP, search dogs, helicopter, etc. headed our direction. I got scared about what my Mom was going to do to me, so my friend and I ran and hid under a log. Just making the search process even harder. While we were there, we discovered a pair of pants with a wallet inside them. And it turned out to be a local teenage boy that went missing a few months back. They found us as we were digging through the pants and sure enough, my Mom was there to give me a spanking I would never forget. But one of the cops found the wallet and started breaking down in tears. It turned out to be that cops son. He called it in to search even more and they found more clues as to his whereabouts from there and were eventually able to trace his whereabouts to some town in Oregon. I don't know exactly why his pants were there or why he was in Oregon but my friend and I were given some weird commemorative metals for finding the clues to where the cops son was. All just because we were being dumb rebellious kids.
