I’m it sure shop owners are all that crazy about taking part in those shows anymore after seein the effect it had on other shops. Almost every shop looses their best help from spinoffs or tensions created by the show. The other major problem is that young people aren’t into this. I watched discovery, TNN (before it became spike) and I couldn’t get my hands on enough hot rod, super Chevy, muscle mustangs, car craft. It’s unfortunate but no one works with their hands and makes stuff anymore. It’s all about texting on your phone, playing video games and all the other stuff kids do these days instead of what we used to do.

no one will ever build bikes as sweet as Larry's you've got to love how Larry wanted to help Billy get his bike running and he won't take the free win. Larry was a real one of a kind and will be missed.. RIP Larry
Indian Larry: A gentleman to the end. R.I.P. my Friend.

Great man! Love his style and attitude. The Greatest!
Yup, Even if you aren’t a motorcycle rider, you can still appreciate how beautiful his bikes were. I just wish he’d been wearing a helmet while practicing those stunts that day - they say he might have survived the fall.

I remember watching this exact episode when it came out. Wow how time flies
Same.
Ten Four on that
Same. And I still watch this very episode regularly.
Me too
Thx feeling really old now.
Larry is a fucking legend. Helping billy like that and the he split the trophy and called it a draw still. What an OG dude. R.i.p
i could not have said it better. right on!
Yep, years later and the part when he fixes the bike still kicks me. Forget everything else, being nice and helpful is above everything else. All these years and everyone still talks about him in the biker world
Night school?

I'll take watching the fabrication over drama & storylines anyday.
And deadlines

Big OCC fan are ya
To me 1998 to about 2005 was when discovery channel was the real deal.
yeah and they need to bring it back to the real americans that know what authentic appreciation really is!
Facts man!! My whole teenage years discovery helped me find my love for alot if shit like this.
Big Picture Thinking i agree with that.
@C.S.R. B. you voted for Hillary Clinton your the scumbag criminal!
Yep
When Billy hugd Larry and said you’re my hero! I choked up! R.I.P Indian Larry one of the greatest builders ever.

That's just awesome facts
this was THEE most badass episode discovery ever aired. period.
Facts. Best builders they ever had on the show. Had they not faced each other and had Billy's bike not caught fire against Exile choppers they both would have been undefeated.
First one I remember seeing. I've watched this full episode countless times in the last 20 years, or however long it's been.
Ride on brother Larry .ride on brother
Billy's bike is like a mullet or rat tail, there was a moment in time when they were cool. Larry's bike is classic cool, will always be cool.
My sentiments exactly. Even at their peak coolness I'd still take the bike that handles well.
And now in 2024 the Bikes he built with a Panhead sitting in it would go 6 figures easy ! I would give my left nad for a Rat Fink style bike by Larry !
That's Indian Larry for you. A true champion and gentleman! R. I. P. big guy!
Larry seemed like such a genuinely cool dude. Just look at how he treated Billy and helped him. RIP
When I was about 8 years old I would come home from school, sneak up stairs, and watch this on my parents TV. Amazing how watching master craftsmen build their creations can influence you the rest of your life! I remember crying when they played the episode where Indian Larry died. Hope billy and everybody is doing ok and still building bikes!
Go check out billy lanes youtube channel and subscribe! He's still posting biker build videos.
You never forget the old timers who help you get your machine running right. Feel for Billy having to keep kicking that engine over. Both guys are talented.
Awesome
Can't believe this was 15 years ago! I can still remember coming home from work and watching these biker build offs in the mid 2000"s.
I almost got to be in one........
@@hawaiianairbrushed you mean you build choppers?
Larry has the heart. It's all about brotherhood and the life.
A Down to Earth Biker. R.I.P. LARRY.
15 years later and Larry's creations still amaze me. Rest in peace
I remember reading biker mags while doing a sniper course in the Army in 1997 and Indian Larry really stood out, now im buying my first Harley and an I looked up Larry in 2021 because he was one guy that i remember reading about...this guy was one in a million. R.I.P Indian Larry-legend.
Now that's how it should be. R.I.P. Indian Larry
I haven’t watched this since it aired on discovery. It was a classic and I wanted to rewatch it later in life and see it like it was new to me.
I drive a truck thru Brooklyn on the 278 BQE, and every time i go past the Atlantic ave exit in the left land I see that famous Question mark sticker of Indian Larry.
Billy's determination and Larry's spirit define what biking should be ,just great and so inspirational.
" i don't care if he win or loose, friendship is priceless" words of a great builder, I L rip
I'm 23 and have looked up to Indian Larry as long as I can remember. Today is my first day of school for motorcycle mechanics and I had to come back and revisit this video before my first class. In a couple years time me and my friends will have a shop open building bikes because of Indian Larry and the bikes he built that sculpted my love for these machines. RIP to the best to ever do it 🤟
No one rides these bikes anymore, you’ll go bankrupt your first year.
Perhaps my favorite biker build off episode ever.
@Berry Harbour it's Indian Larry, he is a legend
The gold and silver leaf guy is amazing. I paint, and I would love to learn how to do that.
Not so hard, just have to do it..........practice, practice and then you know, more practice:)
@@hawaiianairbrushed Really?! Lol
Discovery showed a lot more of the fabrication on this than on something like Fast N Loud. Bring back the fabrication and heavy background music!
unlitdarkness6 bring back the show there are many other bike builders out there to mix it up
The music was bloody epic!
Riff fest.
@@vtwinbuilder3129 these buildoffs hurt shops financially as well without hugh king getting parts donated the little guys couldnt do it. Baker tranny 3k, s&s motor 10k, frame and paint 10k easy, labour 10-20k easy without a backer its not doable except for the big boys and now there arent that many of them out there.
Reminds me of a simpler time in life.. less tech and more human interaction. I miss the late 90's early 2000's... where has the time gone
Late 90s early 2000s what are u 12? Good times were more like the late 60s early 70s.
@@dwoolaver1549 wer u even born in the 90s yet?
indian larry is in only for the brotherhood and friendship unlike other bike builders in this show...you gotta respect the guy...r.i.p in chopper heaven larry
Larry shows a lot of class helping out the kid like that. Great man and what a shame he left us so early. Give them both lots of credit for riding 900 miles on those ridgids.
Not softails I didn't even catch that part
Gotta love the old kidney bruising ones. I kinda enjoy the bumpiness
Exactly what I was thinking old time build old time ride SICK!!!
@@theimmortalsleazus8057 I have a rigid now myself
I think that Larry was using Paul Cox's Rigidare air seat suspension. I think.
When winter time TV was good...... Rest in peace Larry
Nineteen years later and I watched these guys for the first time. Living in Australia I missed out on seeing them for whatever reason, what a cool bunch of guys. Indian Larry showed that special camaraderie bikers share. RIP Larry
at 31:13 when they rolled Indian Larry's bike off the trailer, Billy had to be thinking - okay he won.
True dat.
What the hell no way . Billy all day
Was always gonna come.down.to where the show was. Change thatto a West Coast show and Billy would have won.
Cutting the trophy in half really shows that they are more in love with what they do than having bragging rights. R. I. P. Indian Larry
Larry's bike hands down. It's a thing of beauty. Looks comfortable to ride also. Larry seems like a real stand up guy too, great dude.
My two favorite bike builders. I love watching this episode. RIP Larry.
Best show of class between brothers ever! My favorite build off, hands down. Indian Larry is gone, R.I.P., but his great example lives on.
R.i.p Indian Larry. Awesome dude, seems to be a down to earth guy and you gotta love how he is for the ride and being with his bros not just for the build off. Love both there styles
Indian larry was the real deal such a class act.
This two gentleman gives the word "BADASS" a top new meaning 😎👍
I used to think Indian Larry was old. Then when he died, I got old.
RIP Indian Larry!!!! What an awesome dude!
Larry is a guy you could watch build bikes all day or listen to some crazy stories...but always seemed very approachable. RIP DUDE.
The single greatest episode of biker build off!
Indian Lary and Jesse James got me into bikes. Lary was a one of a kind all-round good dude. I liked how he stayed around to help Billy get his bike done. You could just see the joy on both of their faces getting to work together in person.
what a great human being larry was
Respect and R.I.P Indian Larry .. We Miss you, love u.
This is truly amongst some of my favorite footage of anything of all time. The craftsmanship, the respect, the baddassery. The lessons learned. Its wild how we used to be able to click on the tv and just see this. Now its a lifelong lesson. Rip Larry
That was the best episode of biker Build-Off 😁
Indian Larry died a year after this, during his 4th biker build off. He died doing his stunt where he stands on the seat while riding down the road. He fell off his bike "grease Monkey" and hit his head he was airlifted to the hospital where he died from serious head trauma. Rest In Peace Indian Larry you were a class act.
Did the episode ever air? I remember as a kid imitating guys who did that on my bicycle. Could ride on the seat down the road pretty damn good. I can’t imagine falling going 40-50 mph!
No shit
there's nothing like "garage built" bikes... love watching these guys work... its the epitome of old skool and brotherhood... Rest In Peace Indian Larry....there will never be another like you...they broke the mold when they made him...
That was a classic. Miss the early episodes of that show. It got stupid later on when they were trying to come up with new ideas. Should have left well enough alone and kept it as is. RIP Indian Larry.
Agree
This indian larry bike is my favorite bike in the history of ever.
That was my favorite episode and it has always stuck in my head.
Damn back when TV shows were actually lit enough to watch every week, with actual good content.
Rest In Peace Indian Larry !!! We miss. And love you brother :(
I like Larry’s philosophy to building bikes, he wanted to build a custom chopper that you could be your every day ride.
I remember watching this on Discovery channel when it was brand new. Back then I thought Billy's bike was far and away a nicer looking ride but here it is now and I'm watching this years and years later and my tastes have changed and while Billy's bike is still badass and deserves mad respect I find myself gravitating more towards the art by Indian Larry...
Yeah look at the time when they both ride out of the shop to hit the road. Look how wonky and weird Billy’s handles. Completely unpractical. Nice to park in the shed on display but what a handful to ride, where as Larry’s,you could rip around the city hard and fast all day long
Same
Indian Larry is such a class act. His bike was always my favorite when this show was on TV. RIP to the GOAT
When they first saw each others bikes and Larry brought his out, that damn engine looked like a diamond.
I think Indian Larry had it right , he built some nice fucking rideable machines
It just dosent seem like the right thing to do. I always remember them words by Indian Larry What a gentlemen he was .
The build offs aren’t the same !!! This. Was the best one !!!
I miss this series. I miss Larry.
imiss larry the best biker build of.💪💪👍
RIP Indian Larry, you are gone but you will not be forgotten,he died doing what he loved doing the most and that is the greatest honor.
these two could teach the country about brotherhood and being kind and having respect for each other and working together .and billy if you spent your time on the bike instead of partying you might just be able to build it with out the hassles .their is plenty of time to party after the build.
Probably the best episode of them all. Two of my favorites.
Larry's bikes are so classic and never get old like those other horrible long stretched early 2000s era's "choppers". I wish Billy Spent more time on making sure his bike ran than worrying about all that tacky bolt on crap.
Geezus , a shame reality garage shows don't show and explain the art of fabrication like this series did.
STAN MADAY exactly man. It defeats the whole purpose
I was just telling my buddy about that. Nowadays they just want to sell you a product.
I remember watching this when it originally aired. I miss these shows
Larry was a real artist, bike lover, and beautiful human being. This show is proof the the great legend of a man, that the world lost far too soon. RIP Larry. Always missed, and NEVER forgotten.
this is 100% the best episode out of all them to me at least because they are both my favorite builder's ....
Yes he was a fabricator. Made parts himself ( Not off the shelf) and the chain bike blew my mind with all the work and exactness it had to have to work. Larry was truly "old school". Cutting brackets off is not the same as building frame parts from scratch.
trogus02
I miss Indian Larry. I wish that I could meet him and shake. his hand and to tell thanks for his hard work building choppers the 60's and 70's way.
Same sidney pendergrass he was a true Pioneer & legend. R.i.P Larry
Larry was such a class act stand up guy!! Much respect to the legend
I helped my dad with a sales booth at a bike show in Texas. Neither of us are bikers and don't really fit into that world. Indian Larry stopped by our booth on the first day and struck up a conversation with me and my father who is a retired USAF colonel. He was really nice guy and seemed to really enjoy conversations with my father over that weekend. We were both really sad to hear how he passed away. We saw him do that same stunt. He was a one of a kind and a great free spirit American.
Larry's motorcycles are really beautiful, awesome, lovely, attractive, comfortable but not affordable! Hahaha
THE ONE THING I LOVE ABOUT BOOZE AND DRUGS IS I CAN WATCH THESE OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND NOT REMEMBERS WHO WIN...
haha thought the same thing
You're right! It's a wonderful thing.
Keeping things simple is always better. Larry’s bike is absolutely gorgeous! Billy’s bike looks so uncomfortable but it is a sick bike. Larry was always the nicest guy and was awesome how he handled this whole build off.
Billy and Larry had nothing but respect for one another. 2 builders with 2 different styles yet they saw the good in their creations. They didn't mock or knock each other down. Comeraderie at its best!
RIP Indian Larry... We miss you.
2 amazing builders and 2 amazing bikes!!!! RIP LARRY
Damn it, when Larry’s shop got that frame fresh from chrome, what a gem.
This was the best bike Larry built and is one of my favorites by him
Larry’s bike still looks good today
Back when Discovery actually aired good shows.
This video was an epic adventure! Being an avid bike rider from the qge of 9 through my mid 50's, putting countless thousands of miles under my wheels while also modifying dozens of bikes, this really hits home for me. Thanks for sharing this awesome experience.
It's awesome that Billy has been talking about these episodes since it's been 20 years since they were filmed on his channel
Your comment is uncalled for.
@blokin5039 why?? Billy Lane was on the very first biker build off, Indian Larry wouldn't have been invited to do the episodes if not for Billy Lane and they were great friends. It's been 20 years since the episodes were filmed so he's blessed the fans with behind the scenes things that isn't known and they're great little videos on his KZhead channel. Don't really see your point nor do I give 2 s hits about your lame opinion, so go back to playing with your barbies.
i think he misinterpreted your comment as being insulting to Billy@@bendaves77
Idian Larry, is the man!!!!
Love that dude R.I.P
I have no idea as to how many times I’ve watched this video ? But when Nick says ( doesn’t mean I’m Gay “ ) still cracks me up !!!
Indian Larry made me want to start riding bikes I just liked his attitude he seemed so genuine just one cool man that never was anything but himself that’s what I took away from watching him on tv never meet him but he got me into bikes thanks Larry rip
@alca61 thanks for posting this man, it brought back some good memories. i was lucky to meet Indian Larry a few times and he was a good guy.
