Plain spoken, honest, and humble. A genius songwriter and a “Guitar Master”. Everyone needs to listen to Chris Stapleton.
I honestly really don’t like country, but I’ve looked him up after reading your comment and I like his music. So thank you
@peanut-ketchup4756 listen to the live version of "sometimes I cry". It's unbelievable.
amazing singer too. best ive heard live
No “blue-eyed-soul” for me. But thanks.
I always said I like all music but country growing up and still kinda do. I'm 31 now and I realized that its because I only heard pop country B.S. Chris to me is more blues cause it's so soulful sounding and in the lyrics. @@peanut-ketchup4756
His wife sounds like an amazing driving force behind his success. She got him a ‘64 Jazzmaster and a Jeep to help him with his fathers death. Where do I find a woman like this??
They find you brudda!
Well she gave away his favorite hat, but no one's perfect I guess
Not to mention singing harmony with him live and on record!
@@thehangingcloud2168 Amen.
I love how everything about this dude is genuine. Most people pull out their favourite designer sunglasses, Air Jordans, fancy watches, or some sort of valuable. Chris brought out things that are valuable to him, that all represent some part of his journey, history, his wife, and family.
The most honest version of these I have seen
@@jacobpereira7045 Agreed.
What about that watch? isnt't a rolex?
@@csmotores4365 When did he mention it?
@@csmotores4365 Even if it is, notice that he didn't mention it? Just because he can afford a Rolex doesn't mean it is more important to him than these things. 🙄
I ❤ how he references his wife so much. True soul mates!
i always love how different celebs and artists interpret the 10 essentials idea. Love his list
👍🏼🔥♥️😎
Great list
If Chris dropped a signature jazzmaster I’d buy it scary quick - waiting
Same! And I'm not even a Jazzmaster guy.
Honestly I think tele now after the Super Bowl. That was legit the “wake up and want a tele” switch for me
100%
The jazz master I want that LG-2
Always waiting for it. They gave us the Princeton amp quite some time ago but still waiting for the signature JM 😢
Finally no sales pitches or sponsors just genuine sentimental items.
A chair, a hat, boots, guitar, pocket knives, a jacket, and a blanket. I love this.
articulate, thoughtful, humble. What a dude
He has helped country music become so much more respected. Really opened people’s eyes to what real country music sounds like.
Love this dude. Genuine, talented, humble.
its all an act bro
@@TheEs150don’t be corny
He is amazing!
I love that he’s sentimental for many of his things because they were his parents and grandparents before him.
Finally a real 10 essentials that’s not just filled with sponsored money grabs
I love the relationship he has with his wife. We could all hope to be as lucky in our relationships.
He’s so connected to his people. Love it ❤❤
Another reason why I fully support him
This is the most unique essentials list that i've watched. That Jazzmaster sounds killer btw.
One of the most talented people that GQ has brought on
one of the most talented country artists
Its ashame that humbleness and gratitude is not a common thing especially in the entertainment industry
I absolutely love how sentimental he is, and he appreciates tradition. How truly refreshing to hear!!
The chair… loving it.. I saw him sitting on it during a CBS interview in his studio.. love his music..
Best "10 Things" yet. Very thoughtful and honest.
I love how close he is to his family and they’re such a big part of him
Super Bowl performance anybody? Thumbs up if you cried 👍🏻
Someone that values his stuff
If this doesn't break it down who Chris Stapleton is and what is important to him I don't know what else could❤❤❤❤ I just love him as a person forget about his talent if you can't😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
Chris is a National Treasure. His music is the reason I bought a record player.
As a fellow songwriter, this is definitely revealing to me of Chris’ process as a writer and a thinker. All of those family family heirlooms, reverence for his heritage and pieces that made memories for him-super cool and insightful!
I love that he chose items that he cares about deeply and that he actually uses! I feel like Americans especially are encouraged to buy stuff in excess rather than using what you have and only purchasing what you need. Chris clearly cherishes these essentials and appreciates the utility they provide. He could easily buy tons of different hats and boots and guitars and only use them once or twice, yet he doesn't. I've always loved his music and this video asserted how I feel about him as a person as well!
You touched on something that really speaks volumes about our society's obsession with excess. I recently watched an interview with Warren Buffet and he said, "How many houses, cars, clothes, etc does a person really need? It's okay to want to have nice things, but there's a limit. Anything beyond that eventually becomes not only unnecessary but just outright ridiculous."
Since I found Chris,I know I can't live without his music, He and Stevie Ray Vaughan are the only two artists I listen to EVERY DAY. BOTH ARE G.O.A.T. 💙
Yep!
That's some mighty high praise and I cannot disagree.
Chris Stapleton is so down to earth. Love him and his wife Morgane.
Chris Stapleton is one of the most authentic and cool guys on the planet.
Such an honest and genuine guy.
I absolutely love Chris's sentimental side, I get it. Great respect for this proud son of Eastern KY.
I love Chris Stapleton. His voice and music you can feel it in your bones.
What an artist. Just once in a generation talent
100%
I purchased his signature Fender 62 Princeton hardwired amp and it is the best amp I have ever played .
Totally jelly, dude. I've loved the sound of those Brownface Fender Princeton's for years and keep hoping to build a clone....a bit at a time ya know.
Okay coasties don't hate me! But I think his appreciation for his family and the elders in his life is a value that unites a lot of the Midwest and South with a lot of immigrant communities to the US. A deep gratitude for family and how they've made you who you are. Shows a lot of his character in what he chose and why he chose them.
The best artist of our time
As he was talking about his electric guitar and how he views it as a tool, I was thinking the same thing about quilts. I make quilts, and I want them to be used. Then he shows a quilt that’s been passed down through his family. He talks about how that’s what people grab when they need warmth, and that’s what he grabs if he’s running out of a burning house. Love!!
My daughter has a big Jeep that I can hardly climb in and we turn up and sing Tennessee whiskey with you 😆🎶❤️
I only know one song of his. But I'm a huge fan now because of this video. What a deep and sentimental guy. I wish more dudes on this GQ series were like him.
Dang bro you need to listen to some Stapleton
Please listen to other Chris songs, his voice will give you chills
Chris is one of the few people, keeping REAL country music alive. The rest are just pop music with a slide guitar, if that, thinking..........that's country.
Never watch these videos but for Chris Stapleton letttts gooooo haha
I just love that Chris is so sentimental.
i’ll always love chris, he’s just so humble and i just have so much respect for him and his music is timeless.
His guitars remind me of Trigger - well loved and amazingly used instruments. Family and music are the things that are important to him - no wonder I love his stuff so much
Chris is definitely a proponent of Guy Clark's "Stuff that Works"
Great tune 👌🏼
Spectacular Voice and The BEST version of The National Anthem at the Super Bowl, EVER!!! xoxoxoxo
I absolutely agree! I’ve listened to him singing the National Anthem more times than I can count!
My grandfather owned a Cherokee chief . He passed away a little over a year ago . Super cool SUV
Had never heard of him before watching this video (not into country music) but he seems a very genuine bloke who had a story about each of his 10 items and wasn't plugging anything. I like hearing people's stories.
Met Chris in Nashville. The most humble, real dude out there. Awesome list and love the Cherokee.
World class singer, songwriter and guitarist.
He is highly intelligent, probably has a high IQ, but he is very humble and down to earth.
He was valedictorian of his class.
Gave away your hat? Yeah that was a definite "your lucky i love you" moment 😎
The knives got me emotional as my grandfather gave me a case knife and men do that as a coming of age thing. Chris is super cool!
The story of your life and those who lived before you. They are a circle of love that will always surround your heart. Your the real deal...❤
Got to see Chris and his beautiful wife in Michigan last year. Great show. Love who he is. You could.sit down with him and have a cup.of coffee. ❤
When he described the Filson jacket it made me think of the Guy Clark song, “Stuff that works”.
I never listen to country music. Heard White Horse on the radio. I said to myself who the heck is this...great song! Love his voice.
Probably the most meaningful one yet. Huge fan of Chris and his music.
Love his connection with his family
Even a bigger fan, if possible, after watching this. Special dude with unbelievable talent and grace.
This guy… has there ever been a more talented and humble human being than Chris? These GQ segments usually seems like promo ads for the items being brought out - sunglasses, watches, cell phones, etc. And Chris literally brings items he’s had since his childhood that most people keep boxed up in an attic somewhere. I fell in love with Chris’s music the first time I heard him sing. After watching interviews over the years, I think I love Chris Stapleton the person even more.
I have my great grandma's quilt. It looks a lot like that one.
His tour of items speaks to the mind of a true artist. I love this. It is beyond money, beyond status. I started to cry at the knife display. What a cool soul.
This guy gets life. You just knew he was gonna pull out sentimental stuff
what a great guy, a musical genius and world class performer. What a lucky fan to have Chris' hat!
I dunno if you'll ever see this, but brother, I love what you do. Thanks for all the great songs you've done and the ones to come. Have a blessed and even more successful career!
First one of these I've watched. Stapleton is the real deal.
I’ve only just recently discovered Chris. I can’t believe I’ve not heard you before. You are now my absolute favourite artist. Your voice and music is absolutely amazing. And you seem like a really great guy and person to know.
Probably the coolest video in this series I've seen full of incredibly meaningful items. I get that other celebs might be at the mercy of what they have with them when they do the interview but this one was awesome.
By far the coolest and most genuine essentials. Nothing he’s trying to push or sell just 10 things that really mean a lot to him. Was already a fan and now I’m a bigger one.
This guy is an absolute legend.
i love the sentimental vibe he has with everything especially his clothing, in a time of very impractical and environmentally unethical “fast fashion” it’s nice to see someone who appreciates a piece that is functional, durable, and will stick with you for years without ever going out of style 😤
What an absolutely beautiful soul, love him. anyone who hasn’t seen him perform live, I highly recommend. I was 4 rows back on the floor mind blown, amazing night
always great to see when artists show things that are important and sentimental rather than a bunch of designer and other nonsense
If you want something broken in, give it to Chris. He’s the most down to earth guy
Family values and family love... He surrounds himself by it..
his guitars look so cool now, like time-printed
I really love Chris Stapleton as a person and artist, he is really true to himself, family, and wife. He is so humble. Thank you for sharing this. My favorite karaoke song to do is tennessee whiskey, sung it on a cruise without the music
i've never seen someone provide such real sentimental items in a video like this. seriously incredible. what an honest soul
One of the best voices/songwriters of our day. And a disgustingly brilliant display of phenomenal guitars
One of the best modern famous musicians, easily
No fancy ridiculously expensive watches, cars, colognes , nothing materialistic. Love that love his music 👍🏼
Watching this was the highlight of this day so far, it's like 1am here on the other side of the world. It's wonderful for me to see my favourite music artist just talking and smiling, and telling me about his favourite things. I cannot wait for you to tour Australia. I'll be patiently waiting. 🪷🌈❤
Incredible! Chris is so down to earth and humble and his choice of his ten items reflects that.
Absolutely love that he likes case knives!
the most grounded essentials yet
This dude is Genuine, talented and humble. Gotta love this dude
I am very familiar with that acoustic guitar I know for sure it was in the Sometimes I Cry video and I can't think of others but I've seen it a few times❤❤❤❤❤ Chris Stapleton you are an amazing human being and I think you and your wife make a wonderful beautiful couple❤❤❤❤
You can't get any better than Chris
Love you Chris Stapleton
They really missed an opportunity by not calling this video Stapleton's staples :)
It is impossible to not like this guy! What a warm and down to earth person.
I love how he really thought this through! What a cool dude
Now THESE are real meaningful things unlike some other celebs who only show their cheesy jewellery and advertise their own brands.
love, love, love the honesty and. . .the authentic honesty! HA! The world needs more of this xoxo. . .he is a welcomed healer and leader. Thank you for sharing. . .xoxo
such a great guy🖤 love chris, one of my favourite artists ever
I love that he is sentimental about these things :)
