  • Chem1.1A albryancada: Cambridge was and still is a powerhouse in the study of things pertinent to the scientific community to this day. The discovery of the electron (1st sub-atomic particle) by Sir J.J. Thompson with the use of a particle accelerator in the 19th century paved the way for succeeding scientists up to this day in better understanding the purpose and workings of the electron, among other things. Good episode. ✌

  • Actually, with this experiment, Thompson was able to determine the charge/mass ratio of the electron. Later, Millikan measured the electron charge with his oil dropplets experiment, and therefore the mass of the electron was determined. At least, that's what I learned. Great video anyways :)
