    • @Angelic Summer here, so figured I’d weigh in. In all honesty I think part of it had to do with 1. IG was asked to vote for their “favorite musician” (different metric than we were given-I made a response video about this and other notes) and also because 2. I played original compositions and Sèdo played covers -one being a tiny clip from a famous Chopin (classical) piece called Fantasie Impromptu-both pieces he played I’ve played in the past, but I decided to stick with showcasing original music instead (the piece you heard me play is my composition “JFN” - you can hear the full piece on Spotify, KZhead, iTunes etc. under my name). That said, there’s a recognizability factor that likely went into ranking if for those who don’t know classical piano well (aka the general population, which would include their IG following) and what is considered “high skill” level on piano is likely not as obvious to an untrained ear; not to mention, unless someone has actually practiced Fantasie Impromptu before, he/she/they probably didn’t realize what it’s *supposed* to sound like vs. what he played, which wasn’t exactly accurate to what Chopin wrote (though, again, the metric we were supposed to rank by was talent and not skill which imho is much tougher to assess unless you are singing or have discussed who has perfect pitch or perfect time which none of us discussed). FYI there’s a “full performances” video on Jubilee’s secondary channel called Twobilee that I recommend you watch (it’s linked in this videos’s description if you look for it) for a better idea of what we all heard and saw in the studio.

I'm not really a fan of using the difficulty of the piece to assess skill over the quality of the playing. _Especially_ when he didn't actually play the piece, he played 4-6 bars then messed up which is significantly less impressive. Now about the quality: Summer clearly has better coordination, better technique, more musicality, more comfort. My sister has been a pianist for over 20 years and even won a competition in her day. She played Fantaisie Impromptu in high school. So if you'd like to take it from a pianist then she sees Summer is clearly more skilled regardless of what she played. If it helps, Summer confirmed in a comment that she can play Fantaisie but decided she wouldn't once Sedo had chosen it. I haven't heard it but I would bet on it being better and more complete than Sedo's rendition. Again, he's not bad, just clearly not as skilled.

Navy button down, I'd go to his show after that Fleetwood piece. Hawaiian shirt, I'd want him to drum for my indie rock band. Curly hair girl absolutely set herself apart with that voice, but I don't think it's entirely fair to rank her higher or lower than the pianists. They all impressed me, and are great in their own ways. On shear talent: 1) Girl in purple shirt (pianist)- Her performance was gushing passion and emotion. High skill-level. 2) Girl w/ curly hair (singer/songwriter)- Her voice gave me chills, it was heavenly. Someone you'd like to write with. 3) Guy in beige outfit (pianist)- He is undoubtedly classically trained and has the dynamic touch. 4) Guy in navy button-down (multi-instrumentalist)- He's the guy you wanna start a band with because of his versatility. 5) Drummer- He's bringing the ruckus, I'd love to crank the distortion on some humbuckers beside this guy. 6) Guy w/ blue hair (singer/songwriter)- Touched my heart. Impressive despite being new at his instrument. Madd potential. Keep writing!

The only explanation must be the Instagram audience didn't even know they were voting and simply reacted to random clips but only those that immediately grabbed their attention which would also explain how Mary ranked 1st. She's easily the most listenable in this 'raw' state combining melody and vocals.

She expressed lots of dynamics. Really beautiful. 2. Daniel: I love the drums, he played it pretty well. I loved it. 3. Michael: He did great but there was some minor tunes that needed tweaking. I put him 3rd just because he played two different instruments. He just needed better hand placements and a correctly tuned cello. 4. Sedo: He played great but he lacks hand placements. Didn't feel much emotions but he still did a great job. 5. Mary: she has a great voice but there's something missing. 6. Julius: he honestly needs to be humbled and he only played basic chords.

  • Pianist of 18+ years here: the pianist in the purple shirt is the best musician, and she should be ranked #1 because it's obvious she's been studying music for many years. Blue haired singer songwriter is def #6 LOL he was so arrogant. The other pianist attempted to play Chopin Fantasie Impromptu but he sounded like he didn't have it learned yet nor posses the technique for it (La La Land Piece is easy)... however, that's an advanced piece so if he can actually play it he's top 2-3. I think the girl ranked #1 has an AMAZING voice, but her musical talent isn't near the level of the multi instrumentalist or the other pianists. I'd vote her #1 for "Most Likely to Blow Up on Spotify" for sure, but not most musically talented. Great vid! :)

    @cashglobe@cashglobe2 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah the piano guy choked pretty hard on the descending run on fantasie impromptu, but I noticed his hands were shaking, so he was looking very nervous. I can’t imagine he would attempt that piece without being at least somewhat confident that he could pull it off, but who knows. His dynamics were non existent and it sounded like he was just smashing the pedal the whole time, but it still requires some skill to play that piece poorly.

Summer played something different that what was shown in the video but they didn’t include it in the final cut. It was less representative of her skills, I actually told her that right after). Long answer to say, yeah she’s definitely number #1, that’s why I ranked her myself at that spot in the video. Peace !

Summer/piano girl was clearly the most talented there yet she got rated so low. And likewise, while Mary was entertaining, it was still pretty basic and doesn't require the same level of talent as the other instruments. The one I would be willing to move around is the drummer just because I'm not familiar with what's considered talented in drumming, for all I know what he played could have been super easy or more talented than everyone else
