    • Really sorry to learn this. 😔 There is danger lurking in all of that kicked-up dust. I developed histoplasmosis & lung-calcifications from helicopter back-wash dust, in Viet-Nam. I was 23 years old, and luckier than your Father. Still, I was very sick for a while; and the consequences have been long-term.

    • Valley fever is no joke. If any of you reading this ever visit the southwest and go home and suddenly find yourself ill, _make sure_ to tell your doctor about your visit so they know to test for valley fever so they can treat it and you can survive. Otherwise, there’s a real good chance they’ll never look for it and it won’t be treated in time.

  • The amount of knowledge I have gotten from this channel is astonishing. All this great information for free on the web, I suppose weather has always interested me, from my journeys through the Austrian and German mountains to Jasper in Alberta. Plus I grew up working on my uncle's farm in The Netherlands and he could predict with a marginal error when the storms would hit and we had to rush to bring in the hay.

I'm a Colorado native living in Alabama now. The monsoon is a life giving weather event. Sometimes it is deadly the down side. Thanks for sharing your hard work with the world. It's a gift you have. And you gotta have a water backup supply in the car in case you break down somewhere. One good thing is that with all the humidity this year, the temps have been down. • kG Grass....I lived in the Casa Grande area (half way between Phoenix and Tucson) for 14 years and I can say that yes, you do get mud drops. It also seemed to happen the very same day you washed your vehicle. lol Of course washing your vehicle has nothing to do with the haboob and rain storm colliding but it would cause quite a mess when it happened.

If you have the opportunity to check out Lake Powell it could be interesting drone footage. When the flash floods happen they spill over the lake rim (?) like waterfalls and with the "bathtub ring" from low water levels are wild to see. TY, be safe and NEVER stop chasing! D.🌻

    • In AZ all creeks, washes, and tributaries eventually lead to the Colorado River. Much of what falls in northern AZ either drains into the Grand Canyon, or the half a dozen reservoirs along the Salt, Gila, and Verde rivers. The most of the Water that falls in the desert finds its way to the Gila River, which eventually reaches the Colorado. I imagine most of it fills the irrigation retention dams near Yuma. It’s very rare that they release the waters of Colorado into the delta so it can run to the Sea of Cortez.

    • @@irisamanda3922 Thanks for the info! I can see the waters in northern AZ making their way there but what about all the monsoon waters down near Casa Grande and Tucson?

      @Motortainment@Motortainment Жыл бұрын
    • @@Motortainment the Santa Cruz River is the main watershed in the Tucson area. It flows into the Gila, near Casa Grande. All the water sheds in the south eastern and south central part of the state eventually make their way into the Gila. The Gila is one of the main tributaries of the Colorado. Back in the 1800’s there was enough water in the Gila to take a paddle boat from the sea of Cortez up the Colorado, then the Gila River all the way to Coolidge.

  • You have this time stamped for 5pm, and it’s only 4:30pm in Phoenix right now! Was this yesterday on 8-13-2022? That would make more sense…

  • No one here in AZ ever used the term “Haboob” until recently. They might have a different connotations (I’m certainly no meteorologist), but up until the last decade or so, everything was just called a Dust Storm. Either way, they are pretty harmless, unless you insist on driving with such low visibility and get into an accident. The big issue is the rain from the Monsoon storm that often (but not always) follows it. The soil just can’t absorb that much water.
