  • For 4-5 times guys has approached me making comments/asking about my Jimny. It's a vehicle that makes 4x4 people curious. - And whenever I meet another Jimny on the road we say Hello to each other, flashing lights, honking, waving. This is a lovely attitude no other vehicle provides.

    • Great episode and its always good seeing the different 4wds and mods. Just to add some corrections though, the gvm upgrade gives you an extra 350kg not 50kg. The wait times vary depending on if you are in qld or any other state with wait times ranging from 6 months to 18 months. Un modded a jimny will roll at about 6.5-7 L/100km (which makes the 9ish L/100km pretty awesome for those tyres), Brown Davis also do a fuel tank that wont mess up your fuel gauge but it uses a separate tank and pump (just fyi). Mighty Overlander, good content and is an awesome little rig. I love the style of the 1 to 2 night get away with a minimalist mind set. I love both channels (and love the jimny!)

  • Love the little Jimny. 100% would have been in one myself if Id been looking about 6 months earlier instead of right as the price took off for the moon. Interesting setup with the canopy-to-tent. I like the idea of them with a rooftop tent, but this way is definitely more practical than blowing away the roof load rating and fuel economy.

  • great video Ronny, I agree with the other comments of wishing they were sold in Canada and the USA again, when Suzuki first came to Canada looking for a dealer network i was with Volvo at the time and we got the first franchise rights for Manitoba and it was the mid 80's and people were sort of on the fence about them being small as they are until they test drove them in real conditions off road and our extreme winters here , lots of -30to -35 celsius temps plus windchill factors and lots of snowfall, they never failed to start in the most cold temps and with the manual choke they were easy to start, the heaters were good in them to and we did install block heaters in them and set up with local suppliers to offer optional accessories like insulation for the cabs, or sound deadening material under the rubber flooring from us and larger tire and wheel packages, we sold lots of them to hunters for the simple reason they could go into areas much easier than the domestic 4wd drives of the time at a 3rd of the cost, for our dealer ship we took a pickup model with the fold down sides and made it a tow vehicle and had a snow plow put on the front of it and it did a fantastic job and it did every thing we needed it to do and more even recovering some Volvos of the day and some embarrassed owners ,LOL, it was a great time and we almost became a Suzuki car dealer to except for Suzuki wanted a separate building which we already had and were in the final talks with the renovation company and before the ink dried on the contract with them Suzuki Canada announced a partnership with General Motors to build cars and 4 wheelers in a plant in Ontario Canada under both GM and Suzuki labels so we lost the franchise to another owner who ended up calling it Haber Suzuki , thats when things went in the crapper we had the only certified techs in the province to work on the vehicles and did not want to go to work for Haber who had a very bad reputation in car dealings sales and service it was a real shit show for buyers, bad work in the service dept and never stocking normal inventory parts, and always delays for the owners we still serviced lots of customers of his that were dissatisfied with the service, which gave the brand a very bad name, Suzuki went after him and was about to pull his franchise and had been intakes with our owners again until he said he'd invest in a newer bigger facility with qualified techs so he bought an old strip mall that was big enough for them , and Volvo Canada was not keen to be linked to a product line with a very bad reputation , I went to work for GM Canada a bit later and drove a Chevy Tracker and they are just a capable as a Samurai off road and more comfortable, quieter inside and met the current safety standards of the day which they had to , to be road legal in North America and still started at any temp that was very cold and had even better heaters than the previous models and road a bit better than the old 410's did, great times when you could buy one with a 5spd and A/C taxes in for $14000.00 and last 200kms before any major service, 👍

  • Great footage, Ronny! Great guest. I’ve had my Jimny for 8 months now and I agree with Tony, it is a small car. The benefit of it being small is you have to be minimalistic choosing what to bring and what not. Furthermore, it’s short wheelbase is beneficial both in the city as a daily driver as it is off-road. No it is not a highway vehicle. It was never meant to be. Up to 100km/h is OK, but after that it’s not a pleasant drive. Fuel range is a bit too short, but that’s easily sorted with a jerrycan on the rear ladder. Overall, I have nothing bad to say about it. It’s a heck of a good 4x4.

  • No issue with the 8-9 ltrs / 100km’s, biggest issue is their fuel tank being only 40 ltrs so you don’t get a lot of miles out of a full tank, especially if loaded up with heaps of accessories and weight .... my mate has a nice white example, one of the very first examples into Australia too and he loves it. But whenever we do a big day out on the tracks, fuel can be in the back of mind because whilst they don’t use a lot of fuel, they also don’t carry a lot 🤞 great clip Ronny and great little car too mate

I have done some light 4WD but it seems to go up hills and narrow trails superbly even stock. Would love to have the new model, but the older ones are good too.

  • Been awhile since I stopped by here. I see I was missing epic content! King size swag, you say? Ordering one online RIGHT now lol. I have a self inflating single air mattress made to contour perfect in my rig for sleeping on the side of the back, with seats down. I love car camping, but usually use a tent unless there is bad weather, or bears or other wildlife are misbehaving lol (I live in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia, Canada). However I have a 2019 Toyota 4Runner (same chassis as your LC Prado), and i'm 4ft11 lol, so I have lots of free space remaining, inside and on my roof rack lol. Even being less than 5ft tall, I'd NEVER try to sleep in a Jimny😂

  • I think the jimny is a great little vehicle & It's a pity that Suzuki didn't offer a diesel or even a 2lt petrol option.

  • Great car. Wrong tyres IMO. Having run a Suzuki on BFG's I found the car too light for the really strong sidewalls. Frequently had to run 9-10 on sand to get them to bag properly...which caused a couple of popped beads.

    • Yes, this, I just went back to HT tyres from BFG muddies, but was looking for AT that are not LT rated. Hard to find the sweet spot between light/flexible and off road grip in 215 75r15, especially with current global supply chain issues. Now I'm planning to get diff locks and a set of snow chains and keep running the fast and efficient HT tyres.

  • Need to sell them in the US. They would sell like hot cakes. We had to go old school Geo Tracker aka Suzuki Sidekick. 1995, bulletproof and the closest thing to it with an auto trans. Beast off road.
