  • I know this isn't what this song is really about, but whenever I hear it, all I can think about is the "world's smallest violins" being young music students with the smaller instruments, who need someone to listen to them play, encourage them, and believe in them, for them to really discover a love for music. • @@G.O.A.TR7 as a cellist, we are not similar with viola nor violin. Cello and violin has different strings (Cello has A,D,G,C. Violin has G,E,A,D). Cello and violin has different pitches too, cello is the darker, toned down, while violin has a higher pitch. Although a viola has the same strings, i think it still has a higher pitch than the cello (idk much abt violas, because no one likes them/j). Theres also a huge difference in the sizes. Cello being the biggest, then the viola, then the violin being the smallest. Cello also has an endpin too to help support/hold the cello together ( also keeping it on the ground), while violin and viola has an arm rest since you play it on ur shoulder i think. A cello uses the pegs and the fine tuners, although violin uses the pegs if you’re a professional. And, idk about viola.

    • @Alexandre Magno somewhat. The violin strings, are different notes than the viola strings (GDAE compared to CGDA), which are different from the cello strings (same notes, different octaves) which are different than the bass strings (CGDA compared to EADG) they bass is also considerably lower than the violin, mostly because of size difference. The most common way to think about it is the shorter the strings the higher, the longer the strings the lower

  • For reference, most kids start on 1/4 or 1/2. Preschoolers play on 1/8 size. I started on 1/16 at age 3. I’ve never seen a 1/32 or 3/8 but I had a 7/8. Very cool collection of violins.

    • instead, maybe ask for money as different violins have a lot of different tone and sound quality, that way when you know your way around a violin, you are able to choose one that sounds nice! Also, as you can see, there are many different sizes so getting fitted for a size will help a lot in the long run. Best of luck on your journey! :)

    • @@Nezzenkaty that's ok, let your teacher know, they might have extra strings or another instrument you can use in the mean time. Replacing strings and snapping strings is a part of playing! Strings have a whole lot of tension on them at all times so don't be too worried about it :)

    @SilentSatyress@SilentSatyress Жыл бұрын
    • There's also different sizes for double bass, and he only covered 2 for cello. It would make sense that he'd stick to violin since that's his main instrument, and he only had so much "space" to include that many instruments in the song.
