Those people that you say are just chatting are everyday people who have to live in the real world of being attacked and mistreated just for being black, so their opinions and commentary matter too.

    • It wasn't at all by popular demand it's a false narrative; these are not fucking conservatives..these are rich kids who have been indoctrinated by mommy and daddy..seriously if you want a real liberal vs conservative debate you can create one, not hard to filter out the rich folk who aren't really conservative simply greedy. Conservatives want to conserve the constitution and the values of the country; not simply just hold onto their money and be rich.

  • These are some of the most important videos available online in our time. To be able to see REAL people with varying perspectives, diverse backgrounds come together and be able to peacefully talk things out and find common ground is so refreshing compared to the bullshit mainstream media pushes out everyday. That millions of people around the world can view these discussions and see that YES it is OK to have different views and we can still treat each other respectfully has such a big impact it can't be understated.

The moderator should've enforced the rule of respectfully letting each person speak without dominating. Those two gave me so much anxiety, I wouldn't have been able to speak if I was on the panel. I can feel all the lost potential every time they get rude like that. Many of the black intellectuals that began to emerge in the 1980s including Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas had directly benefited from Affirmative action and then they spend their careers trashing it, and the racial gaps between blacks and whites. • Being black (and right leaning although I'm more a libertarian), the military (US Air Force) was the hands down GREATEST experience IN MY LIFE. I constantly try and get young men from my "hood" to just think about it. I don't push it, and I don't beat them over the head with it; I tell them, finish high school, and check a recruiter out, give it a shot maybe, it changed my life ten thousand times over, and if you're a young man and struggling, just walk down to a local recruiter. If you are rather intelligent, check out the Air Force. If you don't do well in tests or just feel like "yiu are smart enough" check out the army. Personally I will always say go Air Force, because unless you want to go to the desert, the AF will send you all over the world to amazing places, like German, Italy, and where I was for 5 years, Japan.

    • It’s a nice sentiment, but I prefer the party that doesn’t treat us like victims who need boots. We are all Americans born in one of the most privileged positions on Earth. Travel out of the US a bit, see what real oppression is like, ya’ll. Take responsibility for yourself. I was born into a poor single-parent household. We were homeless at times, we lived in apartments and trailers with no running water, and my mother did drugs. I had leukemia when I was a teen. Despite all that, I am more educated and make more money than my graphic designer husband who came from a middle class family in Mexico. No one wants to hear it’s a mindset because if you can’t blame other folks for your struggles then you have to face the fact that it really is up to you. That’s scary af if you’re weak, but it can also be empowering if you’re willing to work hard and never let yourself believe the system is against you. We’re Americans, the world is our oyster 🇺🇸🎉

The fact remains, she went from social welfare to a contributor because of the welfare system that kept her from going homeless. That's how the system should work, so I don't know why she's trashing the system that helped her get to where she is today. "I got mine so let me shut the door behind me," hypocrisy at it's finest.

Most programs don't work like that. She still shouldn't bash people who need it just because she's "made it," because she is an example of how the social safety net works.

    • I listen to all sides, but I looked more into the evolution of the modern conservative movement cause I wanted to understand how their worldview developed as it seemed that so many times I got into political discussions with them they would reject science and what the evidence/data was showing. I find it to be based on a few things like needing to filter everything through their ideological lens of 'rugged individualism'; and lack of trust in government. The modern conservative movement focused a lot on dismantling trust in government so they can dismantle it so capitalists have more freedom to operate their businesses and not have to pay into a larger 'common good' through taxes. Now they don't even trust expertise in general unless it is filtered through the right wing ecosystem. That's what we saw with Covid and so much opposition to Dr. Fauchi. A healthy skepticism is fine, but the right wing ecosystem exploited it to make it go overboard, and then the base will only seem to listen to the right wing fake-experts. The right wing ecosystem also focused heavily on doubling down on divisions and making sure their base really, really hated their pollitical opposition so they wouldn't respect or trust them at all.
