A compilation of the anomalies for The Exit 8 and its ending. Traveling through a seemingly endless underground tunnel filled with anomalies the builders forgot to remove when remodeling, it's up to you to figure out the right path to get the hell out.
It's a short walking simulator mixed with Observation Duty mechanics that's quite fun. You continue forward if the hall has no anomalies and turn back if there's an anomaly until after eight successes in a row you get the stairs out. It definitely would have been neat to see more hostile anomalies. Getting caught by any of the hostile anomalies or entering the open side door or the fake stairs just has things go black and set you back at the beginning.
Definitely looking forward to more stuff in this style.

I agree, plus the white walls and floors combined with a certain feeling of isolation due to being the only (human) person there with no company definitely adds to the subtle uneasiness.
The man with the briefcase running at you has got to be the scariest one.
For someone else who has explored the underground subway tunnels in Japan, Taiwan and Singapore, I can say this is pretty much where the game developer is getting ideas from.
When an MRT system opened in my country, i was extremely glad they went with Singapore's architectural design rather than Japan's. As a child, ive never liked those stark white small-tiled walls that dotted the interior (and even exterior) of old buildings built in the 70s.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. I love how the devs actually made the river has ripple effect around the business man (the man is too busy with his business to even care about it though)
He's too busy to be affected.
Imagine they add more levels. A whole city block or a downtown would be very challenging.
I'd say it is impossible because of so much buildings to be created. Finding a small detail in clean repeating hallway is already hard. BUT! I'm not saying it wouldn't be interesting. It would also be feeling more openned than being trapped in a limited area.
I think the devs would rather make those ideas a whole different game as to make sure this game keeps its liminal horror style
@@pantheracheaxb747 If they did that, they could make some textured squares and keep some subtle changes inside those buildings. It's not like every building will have access to every room. Plus, it could be going down a straight street with a turn at the end. There's so much potential to play spot the difference. Lights being out. Stop lights cycling through lights too quickly. Stop Lights cycling through lights too long. They could be on different red/yellow/green combinations. Building signs can be different. Windows can have different things and effects on them. Street signs can be altered. Cars can be altered. Even going "against" a one-way street. And that's only getting started trying to imagine all the anomalies.
Escape from Kamurocho.
One of the anomalies is just straight up one building missing from the middle ground.
When I played it, I kept on looking at that smiling tooth and the dogs in the posters waiting for something to change. Same for the fire safety thing in the wall and the guys clothing. I'm glad at least nothing too trivial changed, like a camera going missing or the no smoking signs moving a few tiles (because I was looking for that too).
WOW you put in some effort 😂
What I did is I counted the number of the roof tiles, and their positions. I also was waiting for the smile on the tooth to disappear, or for there to be a monster among the dogs. For the fire light i waited for it to turn the right one on instead of the left one
I like that the anomalies are pretty obvious if you spend a little time to look around. You don't have to remember how everything looked exactly. If a poster changes, you can see what's been changed. Which helps this style of game opposed to Observation Duty where you need to be familiar with the layout half of the time.
I beat the game but came here to see the ones I lucked out on getting. There is no way in hell I woulda seen the sorta scary face on the ceiling that looks like a smudge...not a chance. Even watching you look at it I had to rewatch...Its almost unrecognizable on my screen.
And i would probably never have noticed the upside down 8 if it wasn't for this video
I saw it once when I played and was like "has this always been there? Huh? Oh well, probably..." and just moved on. When I got sent back to 0 I immediately checked for the smudge again only to realize it wasn't in the next hallway. So I knew to go back the next time I saw it. It's the most subtle and frustrating anomaly in the game imo.
power outtage has got to be the scariest, i saw a grotesque monster at that moment

Love how you labeled and timestamped everything and interacted! Thank you!
I'm liking this new type of generally subtle anomaly horror. Would be great to see it applied in movies somehow if the creators could bear to make things dissonant, incongruent or inconsistent without drawing so much attention to it that it loses the right impact or loses rewatch value. I can enjoy a classic trope here and there, and sometimes you need more than just tension, but most stuff that sets out to scare ends up following the same, one way or the other formula that makes all the possibilities too predictable to have a lasting impact. It's either that or I'm a desensitized fearless giga Chad, but I know what's more likely
Love the anomaly names in this
I think there is an anomaly where the "next exit" sign is an anomaly. The room has no anomalies but the sign says exit 0 when you turn around the corner at the end of the hall, making the player question if they actually missed smth and then loops until the player realizes the anomaly: The fucking "next exit" sign itself.
I think the next exit sign number changes to zero if you missed an anomaly.. so you basically starting a refreshed turn. or did i get that wrong?
Umm…if it says 0, it’s not an anomaly-you just screwed up.
I think That happened In Markipliers playthrough!
The anomalous version is when you get an anomaly and reverse course only for the number to be the *same* as before. This happened in Markiplier and Pyrocynical's videos. (Pyro got this when he was close to exit 8 lol)
It's not zero, it's if a floor number repeats itself
the wallflower is legitimately creepy holy fuck
It literally pulls you into a hug then kisses you.

It lacks more "Oh shit!" consequences for not rutning back
@@GameBreaker1055exactly
Well I think it's a matter of perception cuz if you approach the game as like a horror game then yeah its lacking but it's kinda more just a puzzle game that makes you think you're paranoid. The point isn't that you're supposed to be scared it's that you're supposed to keep doubting yourself which is why it is subtle and the only consequence is going back to 0. If there was a bigger consequence then you'd remember the stuff better and it would lose its paranoia effect
Hell nah. I was stuck on this game for 2 hours, anymore and it would've been 3+
I haven’t seen anything else from this game. Hell, I haven’t even finished the video (I’m at 8:06). I saw a couple other people saying it’s boring or unscary. For me, from what little I know, the spook comes from yourself. There isn’t many a monster. There isn’t an end goal other than to leave. What terrifies you is how your brain gets worried when you really start to think about your predicament. You’re stuck in a bland, white subway station. It’s a loop. You’re trapped. The endless halls always repeating the closer you get to the exit. The same, older man always checking his phone at the same time. Some times, you die, only to reawake at the start of the hallway. You walk, again and again and again. Every time something is off. Something is different. You rack your head to figure out what’s wrong, sometimes realizing easily, others not. It’s an endless game of “Spot the Difference”, and every time, you lose. A place so familiar yet so different, one etched into your head, each pathway and tile you recognize, yet forget due to the boredom it brung you. It seemed like the universe itself was laughing at your pain. It was torture, and it never stopped. It won’t ever stop. It won’t ever stop. It won’t ever stop. It won’t ever stop. It won’t ever stop. It won’t ever stop. It won’t ever stop. It won’t ever stop. It won’t ever stop. It won’t ever stop. It won’t ever stop. It won’t ever stop. It won’t ever stop. It won’t ever stop. It won’t ever stop. Why won’t it stop?
