Institute of Public Affairs' Bella d'Abrera says our universities have become “woke” and “pointless”.
Ms d'Abrera said discrimination has “no positive outcomes”, as she discussed the ANU’s decision to ban male applications for certain jobs.
“There is a difference between men and women,” she told Sky News Australia.
“This kind of equality of outcomes just will never work.”
The only time in history when children leave college dumber and more immature than when they went in.

Thats a start. What about baby boomer parents, who spoiled and over praised their kids, inflating their egos too much which contributed to laziness, lack of work ethic, responsibility? The participation trophy concept. The desire for parents to be their kids friend, not a parent to respect. Bad manners, disrespect of their elders, many things not taught in the home that used to be. Kids being raised from day care or Nannie’s who didnt have that much stake in behavior, because both parents work 40 plus hrs/wk and exhausted. Overprotection and pressure on schools to coddle kids like they did. Basically no tough love or traditional standards. And a hundred other things. Modern parents may have good intentions but are still poor. Im a boomer and my generation created the millennials with all their flaws.

Men are banned, but people who 'identify' as women can apply, meaning that men can apply and tick the 'woman' box on the application form. As a woman I don't 'identify' as a woman I just AM a woman. Whatever happened to recruiting on merit? When did the best person for the job become objectionable?

University grads earn more money than non-graduates over their lifetime. Bryan Caplan says this is basically because grads have proof they can meet deadlines, manage their time, follow community rules, etc

I’m in mourning,my youngest son is off to uni very soon,loosing him to wokeness.Lost my first son four years ago,now he blasts and talks me down everyday to go educate myself in any discussion.I’m 60 and won’t be dictated to by a lad totally inexperienced with life and responsibilities that comes with it.

I put myself through uni at 42 and got a 1st class degree (one of only 6 in the year)despite running a home with 2 children and a husband. Still did all my own housework, garden etc, as well. University is wasted on the young as most have no knowledge of life or reality. Let him go when he is mature enough to realise what the world is really about and how to appreciate his parents' support, experience and real knowledge!

Here in South Carolina, I tried starting a business as a woodworker. When I applied for my LLC the accountant asked me if there was a woman or a minority I could put the business under to get a lower tax status... hell no, I'm an artist that happens to work with wood. That's like demanding Picasso to sign his wife's name at the bottom of his paintings, she didn't do the work, he did. Long story short, because of the virtue of my skin color and sex I was taxed at a higher rate, so much so that I had to turn in my LLC because I was paying more in taxes and fees than I was actually making because I wasn't willing to work absurd hours to try and keep things going. I'm a disabled veteran, I just wanted a side job that expressed my artistic creativity to keep myself busy, but I'm not allowed to do that apparently. It's not like I was asking for a lot, but what was asked of me was so absurd as to be unaffordable. Fighting bigotry with bigotry is the same as trying to extinguish a house fire with a flamethrower, or spending your way out of debt. You advertise to everyone your level of intellectual fraudulence.
Why on earth should your race or gender get you a different tax status? Everyone should be treated exactly the same.

I don’t mind a 2-4% Indigenous Quota. Many true Aboriginal people do a great job in a modern workplace when actually given a fair chance. What I hate is when some of these jobs get filled by city-based people who are whiter than me and who belatedly chose later in life to identify as Aboriginal. They have never faced any discrimination. This leads to tick the box indigenous quotas without giving true opportunity to genuine Aboriginal people living on the margins. Just need to claim that you are a proud man/woman of some not too close nation and claim that your now dead Granny was one of the Stolen generation.

Universities are not paying taxes, increasing fees 1200% when wages went up 270%. Charging fees to 18 year old, making loans to them in the hundreds of thousands, the same banks that will not lend the same person $1000 for rent.
Universities have always discriminated students based on their own political agendas. Discrimination against students of different backgrounds, financial status or even those doing studies part time. I have many members of my family who have achieved the highest levels at several universities in Australia and they have often spoken about this problem.
I retired from teaching college chemistry 8 years ago. I rated myself about a B+. I had my moments but I recognized that there were professors far superior to me. It is heart breaking for me to see the outstanding professors getting cancelled and the mediocre (I would say C-B at best) taking over the institutions. These professors (gender studies, women studies, actually anything ending in studies ) are the mediocre professors who could not make a name for themselves playing by the rules so they have decided to rig the game.

There were probably a few who would 'rig the game', and decidedly more now who are 'playing the game' (ie simply being pragmatic about opportunity). But I think the vast majority of this stems from women who were brought up on the lies, half-truths, and cherry-picked 'facts' of feminism, which through all of its 'waves', basically told the same lie - that women have been oppressed through all of history, and that now reparations must be paid.
All universities are now prioritizing wokeness.

I'm a man. Happy to be a man. Not mentally unsure of my sex, everything is where it should be. I'm looking for work at the moment and even getting an interview is really hard. I'm getting very tempted to start identifying as a woman just to get an opportunity to food on the table.

In my field, they actually took two courses off, used to be 12, now 10 to get a designation. Fact is, it didn't work. Most of the women gave up.

Let them learn the hard way. I've worked for a company that was transitioning to all women. I laughed the entire time. Total chaos. Stupidity reigned everywhere. Each woman wanted to be THE boss and none of them knew how to do the heavy lifting. I enjoyed it up until the day I left and took my investments with me.
Being a woman engineer working in UK defence, engineering and education, I am utterly astonished!! A job should be obtained purely on merit, ability and skills! Surely Oz must have laws against such discrimination? Neither man nor woman should stand for such nonsense.
I would rather get a job on my merit than because I am a woman, I remember years ago getting my dream job only to find out a month after getting the job the other female employee stated she wanted another woman in the position. After hearing that I asked the boss if this was true, it was upsetting to hear this, it did make me work harder to prove to myself I was worthy of the job and all the hate work did pay off in the long run. The next step in my career within the same company I earned through hard work, to the position of section manager, by this time both the old boss and the other female had already quit the company only 18 months into my time with the company. I have always believed one should only get the job if they have earned not because of their sex. I thought we had left that kind of discrimination behind us back in the 1990’s here we are in a new century and there are people who are still trying to pull this shyt

A few weeks ago ACT government made a tender for women only manager roles in building a school. You know to increase women in construction but only in management roles.

@@sclark9011 Similar story in my workplace mate, some male employees with years of experience replaced or otherwise pushed aside for someone with little or no experience on our field of work simply because they have a degree in philosophy or some orhet likewise useless qualification but manage to tick the correct diversity boxes! Then when they tank the jobs their assigned, blame is always placed at the feet of the previous employee for making the work environment 'too toxic to work in' which leads to the rest of us having to complete mandatory training to 'highlight and correct these issues' 🙄

I'm a female senior developer, and I always get excited when there is another female candidate, because for every 100 male applicants, we get 1 female. But I can't hire them "because girl power". We've only collectively agreed upon hiring 1 girl as a developer because she was ACTUALLY GOOD. We passed on dozens of female applicants because they didn't make the cut. But, we also passed on THOUSANDS of male applicants.. because they didn't make the cut. Bella makes a great point here, when she says "these females will always be wondering 'did I get this job because I'm qualified, or because I'm a girl?'" I, for one, would never want that doubt. I KNOW I've earned my position at my company. And i would NEVER want a young female to wonder if she's "good enough" to hang with the boys. I'm all for hiring people with "potential" who aren't yet at the skill level they need to be. But that only works if you have practices in place at your company that allow you to grow and cultivate their skills (which often means hand-holding) If you choose to hire 1 or 2 people that can shadow a Mid or Senior, great! But if you hire 10 people that ALL need hand-holding (basically Entries at a Grasshopper skill level)... how do you get any work done?
Heard my female CEO using the word "like" 5 times in every sentence she gobbed off. Maybe old school but switched off completely.
Sad to say, but I have witnessed an overwhelming and adundant number of people who are College Graduates and CANNOT perform basic math skills along with NOT being able to speak and write proper English. It makes me wonder WHAT these particular people were doing during their time while attending College and University. It is very very sad to see so many people who are inadequately prepared for real life out in the work force. I have to teach a great number of people basic math functions like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. I have also teach basic writing skills including basic grammar, punctuation, and capitalization. Sometimes, I feel as though I have become a teacher along with working my job. UNBELIEVABLE HOW THINGS HAVE CHANGED OVER THE PAST TWENTY YEARS!!!! WOW!!!

In South Africa the pass rate at university is determined by the colour of your skin Blacks 30% is pass rate It goes up the scale from coloureds and Indians and finally Whites - pass rate is 80% in certain subjects. Imagine going to a doctor that passed with 30% or even a motor mechanic that ONLY passed his/trade with 30% 🤣😂🤣 You'll have a chance of one in three that you'll receive your car back in working order 🙄

I don't think many of the women who get these jobs will ask seriously whether they were actually qualified for the jobs. They've been fed too much "girl power" to now approach their positions with any real intellectual humility. But the respect commanded by the positions will permanently be eroded.

I put in an application to ANU. My resume was copies of ANU's own anti-discrimination statutes, the Australian Attorney General's Anti-Discrimination law page, and the Australian Sex Discrimination Act of 1984.
How is this legal? Get the equal opportunity commissioner on the show to “please explain”
My son who is a middle manager in a major insurance company and even though he's been a star performer he's got to go, sacrificed at the feet of their 60% female management quota. It seems that discrimination is fine as long as its the "right" discrimination.

We demand a conscription in the workforce with parity amongst the sexes in CEO positions, senior management, compulsory gender parity in the teaching sector, deep sea pipe repair… brickies labouring… furniture removal, grease trap cleaning, sewerage maintenance and plumbing, abattoire workers, road plant operators, metal fabricators. I for one would love to walk past a beauty salon and see 50% male employed staff members. I’d love to talk to Wayneo and Daveo about their jobs selling Chanel no.5 at DJs city store.

I am a University drop out. Mature student who was shocked at how STUPID the Lecturers were. After 3 years I had to walk away when I realised this. Knowing more than your Lectures is soul destroying.

I did the same. I enjoyed University so much I took courses after I retired (They were also free with a small fee). However, I took a stand and walked out on a class and the University because of the sheer stupidity of what is being taught and their wokeness.
I attended one of the most liberal universities in the USA. I hold to a conservative mindset. I had to watch just about everything I said. Universities need to get back to the job of education -- not indoctrination. Cheers.

It actually used to be that way. The staff was not always the same though.
They will not allow men only unis for exactly that reason - but probably will not be long before they have women only unis, then they will gradually defund the others so they can look good.
We already have that. Majority of businesses/finance econ majors as well as engineering are men, while medicine and arts are heavily women.

When I left an alleged top 50 university in WA as a mature age male engineer in 2015, the top 3 mining companies set an intake standard. 50% new students had to be female. Three problems; 1. It's sexist to men and hypocritical. Men are at a disadvantage because of their gender. 2. It's sexist to women. It implies they are not competent enough to get there on their only talent and need extra help. 3. When the output of new students is at a ratio of 4:1 males to females, it makes it even harder for men to get a job they should be able to get on merit. No wonder men are not going to university. I would never have done it if I had my time again. You think this is going to help our Aussie society become better, stronger, more competent in an alarmingly hostile world??. Wake up people!! The rest of civilization outside this fairy floss one we live in is very different.

I'm all about this... when it comes to infrastructure, women should be at the front for equality... bricklayers, plumbers, roofers, framers, drywallers, carpenter's, etc... women should step up & even out the field. All the power to them!
Woke refer to a word “inclusion” only when it suit them. Unfortunately discrimination is everywhere in the public sector as they need them to boost their 50% quota. We used to believe that equality and employed the best person (men/women) in their field of expertise rather than give them a token role(s).
Yeah, good luck with that - filling slots with potential 2nd, 3rd and 4th rate applicants should bode well.

One positive thing about this is that at least they are being honest about it. Many jobs now are earmarked for women but men waste their time applying and attending interviews.

I know a guy and his wife who patronized a Starcrooks here in San Diego. "I'll have a foo foo latte and my wife will have a chai tea please." He doesn't man-answer for her. She's shy,tells him what to order and he does it. The barista or whatever name they call themselves replies, "You mean your partner?" "No she's my wife and I'm her husband." Dang.

One way to skirt this discrimination is study abroad: NZ, USA, Canada, UK. In the USA, Asian students were given less admission at Harvard University and the Asian students SUED the university and WON!
I have personally seen this in Defence and APS for years.
All the women I know are having multiple job interviews, a job they’ll stay at for 5 mins then leave… meanwhile as a man I can’t get a single interview after 1,000 applications.
It’s now day care. Persons get trained after they actually land their first job nowadays.
Funding universities needs to be rigorously reviewed. And cut back for all those anti science subjects and their lecturers and the chancellors responsible.

Let me guess ; So these “jobs” are gonna be 9 to 5 only; six figure income plus, Monday through Friday only, never any overtime whatsoever, two months paid vacation per year, no consequences for call offs, no tardy violations, two hour lunch breaks, every office position is a corner office with large windows; and every position is going to be a marketing Director position right?
Why aren't the same standards applied in the fields where Women already dominate and provide Male Only Positions? You never hear them complaining about the lack of males in the areas where female numbers far outweigh males. NO women these days are penalized in STEM (quite the opposite!!) and have the same pathways between males and females all the way through the education system and women are quite capable of competing on an equal recruiting process without the need for special treatment. These positions belittle women in the field, where it should be the best applicant that fills the position and if that happens to be 85% women, then so be it and vice versa.

How about evening out the number of bricklayers, carpenters and steel workers? It’s always about the prestigious jobs, management and leadership positions. What about the daily grunt work and blue collar, physical, outdoor, labor intensive jobs? And there are a few females, but how many by comparison?

The photo you've posted, a very typical one, pretty much explains it. Those adult bodies out there with their signs, hollering and demanding, chanting, are adult size versions of the little kid in the supermarket that puts something they want in the grocery cart and when mother removes it they pitch the biggest, ugliest fit imaginable. Does mama stand her ground? Nope. Those kids grow up knowing for sure that all they have to do to get their way is to throw a temper tantrum. They are very narcissistic individuals. Society is just as accommodating to the pressure as mama was and doesn't have the guts to stand up to that kind of nonsense. Nobody wins anything good - just the opposite.

Society is being destroyed from the foundations up! The nuclear family unit- Dominant male father, submissive female mother and subservient children is the very foundation upon which society is based. Men and women are two equally important but necessarily different halves of a single unit. Being different doesn’t make one inferior to the other. Look at this example- who is more important in a hospital- the cleaner or the surgeon? Neither, in fact the surgeon is more dependent on the cleaner to ensure the hospital is clean whilst the cleaner is only dependent on the presence of the surgeon for employment. People have been too busy playing the game of life. Pushing others down to get to the top. If life were a game no-one would want to play it- imagine a game where everyone loses in the end! People playing the game of life see the proverbial glass as half full or half empty. They are both wrong and have completely missed the point! Be grateful to have a glass, for when you are you will see the nonsensical nature of the very question. Life isn’t measured by what you take, but what you leave behind! You are only entitled to what you brought when you were born and what you take when you die - nothing. You weren’t born with rights- not even the air you breathe is a right or an entitlement, it is instead an honour and a privilege. Lastly there are, and can only forever be two biological genders - it is so simple when it is determined by what is between a person’s legs rather than between one’s ears.
@@brucethevoice Your example of the cleaner & the surgeon was how we were told in the restaurant that people look down on the dish washer job, but the dish washer is actually more important than the cook or waitresses. Being that every dish starts with.. the dish. So we always remembered to be kind & give thanks to our dishwashers.

They realize it. They just don't care. The University management are parasites on the system, and are not concerned about excellence. They are often people who leap from one managerial position to another, causing disruption (which they call"change") and then clearing out before they have to face the consequences.
They dont care about the bar its ALL about virtue signalling. They dont care if the students are as useless as a kick stand on a horse when they complete their studies. They don't care about their students. Its all about how many they can churn out at the end of the course. If they have a certain number of successful completions it looks good on the books and the government money keeps coming in. The same with Sydney Unis research results. The quality is irrelevant its the quantity that matters. When the government sees each year how much research is put out they'll keep pouring the money in. Then those 'professors' doing the research have bragging rights, noses in the air and pompous attitudes. Ive seen it up close. Most of those professors couldn't open a door on their own but ask about research and they are damn certain they are better than you. If you think I'm bitter you'd be totally wrong I'm just a keen observer and a successful electronics tradesman. So I'm not stupid.
