    • +Michael dewhirst That is a common false impression of 4X4 pickup trucks. SUVs are always better off-road machines than any pickup trucks due to better weight distribution and shorter length, factory built speaking. And....... the Land Cruiser is one of the highest rated off-road vehicles out there.

  • It's fascinating how Americans have no idea about the world that exists outside of America, and are always amazed when seeing something different. Pretty strange for a country that actually invented internet.

    @dimekoza@dimekoza9 жыл бұрын
    • You're basing this off of one person's experience?

      @sik59rt@sik59rt9 жыл бұрын
    • sik59rt Actually no, I had the privilege of meeting a lot of Americans, which are amazing people in every respect, but most of them had literary no idea, so to speak, about the rest of the world. And when you combine stuff you see on tv and internet, you can come to the conclusion that vast majority (of course not all of the Americans), but way more that 50% have no idea about the rest of the world (figuratively speaking).

      @dimekoza@dimekoza9 жыл бұрын
    • dimekoza The internet as we know it was invented by Tim Berners-Lee, an Englishman, working from CERN.

      @jamesblyth9532@jamesblyth95329 жыл бұрын
    • Dude, the US Government invented the internet, look it up, and that's not the point of my comment.

      @dimekoza@dimekoza9 жыл бұрын
    • dimekoza I know it wasn't, my bad, but the US government did not invent the internet. Yes they contributed a great deal to networking, but without Tim B-L we would not have HTML, URL, HTTP and we would likely have to pay royalty fees for the right to use it. This contribution outweighs that of the US government, hence why he is widely accepted as the inventor of the internet as we know it. That said, your statement on Americans is (generally speaking of course) correct, only 46% of US citizens have a passport and only 3.5% travel abroad.

The various Land cruiser series, especially the pick ups and solid front axle versions are considered by many to be the toughest vehicles on the planet. They NEVER die and are capable as fuck. • Excellent video. I also love to explore the UAE dunes in a Land Cruiser; Ahmed is a very capable driver. Just wanted to note one area of correction. The UR3 5.7 pumps out more torque than the 1UR over the complete torque band. In fact; the UR3 is almost like a diesel, it pumps 90% of all its torque already at 2200rpm. The 4.6 is way less powerful, but what Toyota has done for the Middle East to offset that, is to reduce the gear ratio: running the 4.6 t a higher rpm vs the 5.7. Excellent engine, the 4.6.... but the 5.7 is really more powerful at every rpm (torque and BHP). From a drivers view, this has also been my personal experience while owning both the 4.6 and now 5.7.

    @xeno126@xeno1267 жыл бұрын

Including me for sometime. Since we have the toyota sequoi ehich is practically a landcruiser but cheaper. And also the highlander

    @Toyota4Life@Toyota4Life9 жыл бұрын
    • Toyota4Life It's pretty simple to understand...a 6 thousand pound 7 seat SUV is aimed at mom's driving around kids. It may have been capable in levelish sand, but that was not it's main purpose, it's main purpose is being a mom car....a Jeep wrangler on the other hand is never going to be confused as a mommy suv

      @waffles824@waffles8249 жыл бұрын
    • Hector Ayala That's exactly right. Here in the States Land Cruisers are more apt to be seen in mall parking lots and in front of a Starbucks - not off road.

      @drivebigmuscle8080@drivebigmuscle80809 жыл бұрын
    • Toyota4Life You'd be much more likely to see a Ford F150 or a Chevy Silverado or a Jeep Wrangler going off road in the U.S. The Land Cruiser in the U.S. is typically bought by the same sort of people who buy Siennas. They're essentially minivans here.

      @TheWatzitooya@TheWatzitooya9 жыл бұрын
    • Hector Ayala What can I say other than Toyota makes both SUV and 4WD. The Toyota Landcruiser is aimed at 4WD people, not SUV. Outside of the USA the Landcruiser/Prado and Patrol are considered a better choice for off-road than Jeep. Also the Discovery is considered highly. Look at news reels and vids from Africa, Asia, Middle East, Australia, NZ, Pacific Islands and you'll see how common these vehicles are in remote areas.

      @Daniel-dg3np@Daniel-dg3np9 жыл бұрын
    • ***** Old Landcruisers yes, not new. Jeep wasn't for sale in those regions....just recently started selling jeeps in Australia, and they are already taking over. New landcruisers are not primarily made for off road use....no 7 seat suv is primarily designed for offroad use, you can argue that til you are blue in the face. new landcruisers are not the old landcruisers used in Africa...those are the ones you see in news reels as you say, not the mom suv's they sell today

    • Patrick Kroell war reporters always said that when they are stuck in a war zone, the sound of a Land Cruiser is more reassuring than the sound of a rescue helicopter.... that is the type of reputation the Land Cruiser build for itself... i'm shocked when this guy just said he thought it was just a "mommy SUV"

      @dunhillsupramk3@dunhillsupramk39 жыл бұрын
    • Patrick Kroell It's the same for the Range Rover. Both are cars constructed with serious offloading in mind that they'll probably never experience. Come to Dubai and you'll see that while we have thousands of Land Cruisers and Patrols here they're no differently used than any minivan.

      @MaxXTVBlackBerry@MaxXTVBlackBerry9 жыл бұрын
    • Patrick Kroell Don't blame the guy. That is how vehicles including Nissan Xterra (Patrol), Land Cruisers, Range Rovers, Escalades, LR4s are used in the USA. I swear you'll never see a Range Rover touch dirt even once in its life if it is used in the USA. Our off-roading tools are Jeeps and Chevy pickup trucks.

  • Pretty cool stuff. I never seem to have time in Dubai to even check this kind of action out while flying through. Just came back to Afghanistan from vacation in the US and picked up a 97 Land Cruiser with factory lockers and of course the full floating rear axle. Don't want to spend the kind of green for a 200 series in the US and an 80 series will make a good project. I like the 4.5L inline but will probably go to an LS3 w/ 6L80 in the future. Should be a beast and glad to see just how well the LC works in the sand and then in the Outback.

  • if you leave the states a bit (which is an amazing country, don't get me wrong), you will realize that toyota is the king of the country side. They have a v8 diesel that is amazing. And talking about other cars, land rover, mercedes g and a lot more, but toyota is the king. Jeep is great but is under those three. I am sorry but it is like that. I am talking about stock cars more or less. The mercedes is not the king because of its price, range rover is amazing but too fancy and heavy, defender is great but need an upgrade from land rover. And that's it. Patrol, Pajero, jeep (jeep the last of this), are great, but toyota... the best. that is a fact. And there are no other american vehicles included for real off road with a "mostly" unmodified car.
