This Is Why Thomas Shelby Is So Irresistible - Character Analysis (Re-Upload)

WARNING!
*This video may contain spoilers of Peaky Blinders Season 1 - 5.*
In this video I talk about a couple of observations I've made throughout the show that I believe make Thomas Shelby irresistible and admired by both men and women.
Thomas Shelby is the protagonist in the TV-series Peaky Blinders that aired on BBC the summer of 2013. He's one of my favourite characthers to ever grace the TV screen and his charisma is out of this world. I've thought long and hard about what it actually is that make him so attractive to other people.
I mean, we all can see that the actor Cillian Murphy is blessed with good looks, a deep voice and a well defined jawline that certainly helps, but I believe that there has too more to it.
So going into the TV-show a second, and a third time with the mindset of looking for clues. I've managed to dig-out a couple of moments in the show that I believe really highlights the rich pesonality that Thomas Shelby posses.
I also asked myself what else could help fill the picture, so I decided that I would compile the highlights a long with some historical background and little bit of his childhood-story to give you guys an idea of what hidden forces helped shap this awesome mobster.
So if you're new to this channel or have no idea what this video may contain I hope I've been able to shed some light regarding what it is that I'll talk about in this video..
If you have any questions, thoughts, ideas or suggestions. Feel free to send me and email or comment down below and let's have discussion about it.

  • Just letting you know the Scene at 4:09 was an intentional foreplanning. He picked that fight there with them so that he can create a conflict with the Lee family for the time being. So that when Mr Kimber comes at him angry later on (at the pub) he shows him the bullet with his name on it in order to substantiate he is on his side 100%. He didnt start the fight at 4:09 out of anger or spite. It was a calculated move and conflict that was necessary. To which he went and amended that conflict by marrying John with one of the Lee girls in order to fix. All his moves were cold and calculated. Only time he reacts out of emotions is when they took his kid in season 3. The mans playing 3d Chesse while everyone on 2d.

  • I just realized that Tommy's experience as a tunneler is an allusion to voluntary confrontation with the unconscious. 1. He volunteered for the position 2. Tunneling literally involves submersion under the superficial 3. He transcended his previous state, which was naïve and unprepared for what was to come, through the full integration of his desire for power.

He's traumatized and been dealt a bad hand just attempting to carry on why embellish or label it? Look at the era too. Prohibition so if you drink automatic judgement back from the war so expectations there too. It's just death and suffering people don't know unless they know.

  • You attribute the lack of emotions shown by Thomas Shelby to the historical conditioning of men to refrain from overt display of emotions.However,there is a contradiction here. Similar to Tommy, his brother Arthur also fought in WW1 and faced similar traumatic experiences. He also shared the similar upbringing of Tommy.However he is one character who almost wears his heart on his sleeves and has zero control over his feelings or passions. His wife Linda in fact manipulated his emotional nature to get close to him in early part of the series, Arthur attempted suicide and Tommy asked him a number of times to get a hold on himself.

    @Hari-kx2er@Hari-kx2er2 жыл бұрын

      @kimonaNo1@kimonaNo12 жыл бұрын
    • @@kimonaNo1 That is exactly the point. Tommy's stoicism can't solely be attributed to some 'historic conditioning of men' as suggested in this video. Tommy's stoicism was his individualistic trait that made him a leader whereas the more emotional Arthur who shared Tommy's upbringing and had gone through similar traumatic experiences remained largely a follower.
