Foxes do seen to find themselves in some very odd places, but entanglements in netting is definitely something we see far too much of!
Luckily for this particular fox, he was spotted by a member of the public and Lawrie, our Operations Officer and out-of-hours rescuer, set off to set him free!

Lawrie is sounding more and more like Simon. 😆
"Alright mum"
God bless both of them!
Leaving nets down like that doesn't just risk entangling critters, it also massively reduces the useful lifespan of them. One of the things we always did at our football club was after training and matches to either pull the nets up high or remove them entirely. This makes mowing the grass much easier, and keeps the net dry and far less muddy. Real win-win for everyone, including foxes and birds.
In the US everybody seems to use portable nets and just keep them in the garage when not being used.
Forget mud and moisture. We got Lawrie here cutting them up to free a fox, so that definitely reduces their lifespan. Even if no one was there to cut up the net, I don't imagine a trapped and possibly dead fox is great for the useful lifespan of a net either.
@@LadyIarConnacht this net isn’t in someone’s back yard, it looks like it’s on a piece of common ground. Many local authorities provide them for kids and adults to practice with and they’re a permanent structure (or they wouldn’t be around for very long). It’s up to the users to toss the bottom of the net up over the bar when they have finished playing. Taking a ball to the common was something we all looked forward to when I was a kid, but there wasn’t any money for football (soccer) nets in the early 1950s. We played perfectly happily with piles of coats as goal posts, which was much less dangerous for foxes and other such creatures.
He was remarkably calm. No panicking, nothing. Only threatening when Lawrie came too close to the teeth... I love it :)
Lawrie grew so much over the years. Hearing him talk to the animals so calmly and charming, he is great at his job. Thanks to the whole team for another fox with a second chance.
Thanks Wildlife Aid team 👍
Thumbs up for Lawrie! Well done, thank you.
Wonderful work there Lawrie! That momentary expression of utter shock as the Fox couldn't believe you'd just set them free before bolting off to freedom was GLORIOUS! Especially getting out there so early on a rather brisk-looking morning! *brr!*
💭 Huh..? Am free..?! K Byeeee 💭
Fox thought Laurie lost the grip, it was in fox's eyes 😆
Blessings to you and all of Wildlife Aid, and thanks! Love to you all!
Thank you for everything you do or the animals.💗💗💗💗.
Aww he was well behaved! and his momentary hesitancy at being released as if he couldn't believe it, was so cute.
Lawrie. You are one of my hero. Thank you for your work and dedication.
Grateful for your work, and for everyone at WAF. Love especially to Simon. ❤
Lawrie, you are wonderful ! So much kindness and care for that little furry soul in distress. Bless you for what you do 🙏

Poor Reynard! Thanks Guys, great camera work and wonderful rescue mission! XXX ❤
Thanks so much for your kind comments! Lawrie actually filmed this one by himself!
Excellent work, as always. Thank you 💚💚💚💚
Well done Lawrie. Simon has taught you very well. Love your heart and compassion for the animals. Heart of gold. Foxy Loxy has a tale to tell. He will tell everyone that it was Lawrie that saved him.❤❤❤❤
Your videos are giving me hope to believe there are still beautiful things in this bloody world, thank you.
I was amazed by the fact Lawrie wasn't using a glove, but the captions explained it. They go by a little quickly, so if you have the opportunity, it would be helpful to many of us! Great rescue. ❤
Great job, Lawrie and thanks WA, I can't get enough of these videos. 🦊🧡
Beautifully done, Lawrie 🙂xXx
Great job well done another life saving thank you 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️🦊🦊🦊🦊
It always does my heart good to see these successful rescues!
Such a huge entanglement, and such a quick rescue/release! Fantastic work, Lawrie!
I was just thinking "someone came to that net later and wondered what happened." I hope as many people as possible see that message about nets!
Thank goodness for all you wonderful people. Angels for animals😊
Great Job Lawrie another fox saved from one of those nuisance nets , you wildlife angels at Wildlife Aid are worth your weight in gold . Thank you for your compassion , kindness , time and hard work that you do in rescuing injured and orphaned wildlife . ❤ Kylie from Australia 🇦🇺

Good job getting up so early, Lawrie! Foxie must have been glad he wasn't stuck there for hours longer.
Thank you! Great job! Foxes are cutest!
Very well done, Lawrie! Thank you for saving this sweetheart! ❤
Another efficient rescue and release done by Lawrie, nice work Sir.
One Man Rescue ! Bravo ! I think Mr Fox stared at you for half a second at the end, just to say Thank You 🥰
🐾🐾 all things considered, they are pretty mellow when being helped. Thank you for putting in the effort to save these guys👍👍
Thank you Lawrie. I put off watching all day as I HATE netting entanglements. Seeing the constriction injuries, how helpless and frightened the animals are, and I get angry how easily avoidable this suffering is. I sighed with relief. That's a lucky fox. Thanks again, take care and Happy Easter.
I love these foxes you rescue these creatures are beautiful thanks for the rescues and sharing your videos we enjoy all of them. 🦊🦊🦊🦊👍🏼
You are wonderful. I get teary during every one of these rescues.
Excellent job, Lawrie. Best wishes to Simon from across the pond.

I think the fox knew you were there to help him he really didn't put up a lot of fuss. You did a great job Laurie.

Fantastic job for Mr Fox, im glad he could just get up and run :) xx
Bless you ❤️
Such a fine job....saved another foxy!! Yeahhhh!!!!
03:15 That was one of the most distinguished "WTF just happend?!?" face expression I have seen in a long time 😀.
That was a beautiful fox. It's always nice to see the rescues that get released right away.
Excellent work Lawrie ❤
Well done Lawrie, that was a very lucky fox. ❤
Take this, dear Simon: ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for helping him! what a lovely fox
All these nets should be sold with warnings. Maybe we should find a way to contact manufacturers
Very nasty thought here: The manufacturers want to sell more nets. So, if WAF cuts them apart to free animals, it raises the profit. As much as I love the Idea of a warning, I don't think it will happen.
Sweet little fox knew exactly who you are. It just waited for you to do the work and no fighting you or anything. So sweet. Thanks for continuing to do this so important work and to continue filming it so others can learn what they should be doing.
I love the way you talk to the fox, just like Simon.
Beautiful job Lawrie
Thank you Laurie. What a sweet boy, looked like he knows you? Watched all the ads & donating again. 💕
Great job Lawrie!!
Great work Lawrie
Great work once again
The poor thing looks so tired but he is a calm cool dude bravo Lawrie and all my best wishes to Simon I hope he feels better we love you guys for all that you do!!👍👍👌👌👏👏
Thanks!
Fantastic job lawrie 👍
I winced when the fox got that look on it's face like it was gonna bite it's rescuer. Great job Lawry
Thank you, on behalf of Mr Fox. Early morning, frost on the grass, you did a great job setting him free.
I love how you help the animals. And it makes me sad that wild animals need to live this way due to indiscriminate and unthinking human encroachment and careless cruelty.
Good Job Lawrie, I think the fox was thankful
Nice job there! More education needs to be made at schools to help prevent this. Should be part of their corriculum.
Wonderful. After a cold night tangled up... a fresh spring sunrise and released to the dawn for home. 💛
You guys are the best ❤
Beautifull soul... . What else to say... 😮
Bless all you folks for all that you do for animals ❤
Thank you ,Lawrie ❤❤❤
Wonderful work Lawrie! That poor fox was well and truly tangled . Ty for saving it ❤
Why are those who use football nets so absolutely stupid as to leave nets down .?If you had a pound for every time WAF gave this net warning you'd be richer .Yet seemingly words fall on deaf & daft ears .Even those who don't watch can see what a threat such things are .Guess they are indifferent ..Great work and please may the lovely fox survive any other encounters with public apathy which is way too much ...👍💚🦊How many other areas where there are no rescue services kill wildlife by utter negligence .The thought makes me shudder ,
Kids. They use the public recreation grounds with goalposts/net for 'scratch' kickarounds/football games after school/during holidays. They aren't aware that animals can get tangled up in the nets. Out reach programmes at the schools (particularly primary/junior) could really help with this.
Laurie had to go go solo. Not even a volunteer to do camera work. Excellent job, Lawrie!
Fantastic!
The fact that he still came to help is just awesome. A few years ago i needed Help with a freezing, sick cat outside, no one wanted to help and i had a cat myself and was scared as i had an incident not long ago with another stray(they came from a neighbour who brought them, but never cared and even abused them, where no one would do anything against. Who was, sorry, FINALY hospilazied because of old age) who did goe absolute rampage in my appartment, causing damage i had to pay in installment because my insurance said that was my problem. So i thought i call some numbers i found online, from the animal shelter and animal rescue organisations. NO ONE wanted to help because it was the weekend. They said, when she was out their till now, she can be out their a few day's longer. This was just so devestating for me. No one wanted to help and i was just so scared xx. I took her in my bathroom, because at this time i had a tiny 1 room-appartment and my Cat in the Living-room. Thank goodness she was just super loud, meowing out of fear or pain, idk xx. I tried searched trough the internet and did write in a few foren for Cat's till someone answerd me. She just came home from a vacation and said she would take her, as she was a Foster for cats. Although for kittens, not adult cats but she said that was okay. She would care until she can give her to the shelter. She also brought her to the Vet and all. At this time i fought with really bad depression and anxiety disorder, had no job and just lived in this tiny appartment with my cat, which was also a stray who adopted me more,. than i adopted her xD. And i had in only one year, 3 cases with abused cat from this neighbour. And people just don't wanted to help, because "the cat's have an owner". It was such an traumatizing situation, esspcially the last one where i was really scared she would die when i do nothing. Sorry for this long story ^^'''. I just wanted to say how much i appreciate youre doing. And how it helps me, to never look away even for the smallest of animals.
It was a Lucky Fox indeed and thankfully no Injuries from the netting. It thankfully zoomed away from the Area. Thank goodness.
A lucky one. 😊
They are so pretty animal, thanks again ❤
Thank you on behalf of the fox! 🤗👍 Was this the most calm, relaxed and co-operative fox you ever had or was it weak/shocked? 🤔
👍so good what you guys do.
What a mess that netting was. Great job Lawrie! I sure wish people would learn to put those nets up when not in use. I just so admire the work you do but do know if people were less irresponsible it would go a long way in keeping the wildlife safe.
"Hopefully we'll never see you again." Let's name it 'Lawrie's Paradox'.
Goalposts work well enough without nets at all.
Always excellent work
A good day from the states...Best wishes and prayers for Simon.
Oh the poor guy! :( it looks like the net was in a school yard of some sort? Maybe they can have you guys in to educate about why they should remember to put the nets away! Lawrie you *are* starting to sound like Simon. I’m glad the fox was feisty and ended up ok!
A school yard would not have been as easily accessible by the public. It looks like an estate green or something.
You did a quick and great job untangling this fox...no stuffing around..less trauma to fur baby ..u r a legend....i have seen some rescurers just taking so long to get the job done.. i feel sick watching them.. ❤😂❤
I can never get over how beautiful foxes are.
Thank you. How is Simon Doing
Nice work
