CALL ME BY YOUR NAME is a sensual and transcendent tale of first love, based on the acclaimed novel by André Aciman, written by Oscar® nominee James Ivory and starring Armie Hammer (The Man from U.N.C.L.E, On the Basis of Sex) and Timothée Chalamet (Lady Bird, Little Women). Its soundtrack is a mix of 80s pop, classical compositions & songs by singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens, including two songs written specifically for the film.

While the soundtrack for CALL ME BY YOUR NAME is a compilation of tracks by numerous musicians, Guadagnino decided he wanted to approach American singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens to create a song especially for the film. “An artist for whom I have enormous admiration is Sufjan. His voice is fantastic and angelic, and his lyrics are so sharp and deep and full of sorrow and beauty. The music is so haunting. All these elements were the ones I wanted to envision in the film.”
While Guadagnino knew that Stevens had never collaborated on a movie before, he reached out. Stevens read the book, they had a long conversation, and the result was that he wrote not one, but two original songs for the film: “Mystery of Love” and “Visions of Gideon”.
The soundtrack for CALL ME BY YOUR NAME also includes tracks by John Adams and Ryuichi Sakamoto as well as pieces written by Erik Satie, Maurice Ravel and Johann Sebastian Bach. As the film is set in the 1980s, Guadagnino chose period Italian pop music (including Giorgio Moroder & Joe Esposito’s “Lady Lady Lady”) for the radio, but particularly spotlights The Psychedelic Furs’ anthem “Love My Way”. “I love The Psychedelic Furs,” says Guadagnino. “It’s kind of autobiographical, because I remember listening to that song when I was seventeen and being completely affected by it. I wanted to pay homage to myself then.”

  • I had this exact experience when i went to Pakistan. I fell in love with a guy and had a very similar relationship, i was young (17) and didn't realise what i had until i was leaving back for the UK. He was 21 at the time and has since got married and has kids. This was 13 years ago and i still remember every single second we spent together. My parents brought it up to me after they saw the way we hugged before we took the plane and then how low i was for weeks and months after. Since then i have completely come out to them. I shouldn't have watched this movie :(

  • There's a part of me that is saddened by the thought that I'm never gonna fall in love like that. But the other part of me is maybe glad to not have, probably scared of the hurt that kind of love may bring.The last scene where Elio cries in front of the fireplace by himself is truly hearbreaking to watch. I have not experienced heartbreak like that in love but I can only imagine it must be traumatizing for both individuals. It must be painful,getting the rare chance to love someone so deeply yet not being able able to have them close to you. I've seen this happen to a lot of my friends and I hate seeing them suffer like that. Whomever has experienced such a thing in life I really wish for them to feel better one day ♡

    • Been there, done that. I still am not sure if I'm glad I lived the sheer happyness of it, or if the mere idea of having to go through the heartbreak that followed is making me feel sick. We would have had a whole year if his host family hadn't been so stupid. We had 7 weeks and four days in the end. He's on the other side of my country now and he'll leave competely in july. I don't know if I'll ever see him again. Like Elio, I sat in the car crying. I still do. I jut feel empty and I can not distract myself from the pain. It hurts.

Rather, they present love, first love and romance in their purest and most genuine forms. Kudos to all those producers, directors, screenwriters and actors who fearlessly bring what once was a taboo of our society to the big screen. I remember a commercial tagline from the movie Carol, “some people change your life forever.” The word "people" has no specific gender.   • I've never been so effected by a movie ever in my life, throughout this movie I felt all the emotions there is , I went through happiness, True love , heartbreak, sadness...., for me it's definitely the best and the most beautiful and touching movie I've seen and I will ever see....no words in any language that ever existed can even be close to what this movie made me feel , and how special and beautiful it is ...... i will never forget how I felt about this movie as long as I live..

  • This movie is going to be stuck with me Forever... Thats when a movie is art i think.. it's when it sticks with you. I just listened to this and i just started crying and i just feel so brokenhearted without even having experienced Something Like that. Im so upset that we get so much Trash in series and movies nowadays, when Netflix is around, but i was lucky to have found this. I just hope that we experience real art like this movie watching, but also by experiencing the art of life
