  • Y'know, with this in mind, it's even cooler that 3 was the prequel because right in the next game to be released Dante is a guiding figure (in his own weird way for sure but still better than Vergil's guidance)

  • Minor correction. You don't use the moon & sun to open the door that leads to the second vergil fight. That fight is during mission 13. While dante gets the sun & moon during mission 16

    • Dang, I really thought I remembered that being the door to the fight in the basement... clearly I gotta replay the game, again. XD

  • God, this is why I love being critical in media artform. When dissecting background, minute details, and inspiration the authors took help make this more then just wacky wahoo pizza man game

  • Great video. I was heavy into studying Buddhism when I was younger. Very well explained 👍 I always appreciated the focused nature of this spirituality. There's not much room for interpretation, no hidden meanings. It's all laid out in the doctrine simply. Where as something like the Bible can be picked apart and looked at in many ways Buddhism leaves less to perception, rather explaining perception itself.

  • Wow, talking about the themes, meaning, symbolisms and other subjects found on these games makes them WAY more interesting. Thank you, Muse.

  • I've only just started this video and I already know I'm going to love it. Thank you so much for making these videos! :) Please don't stop. You have immense talent and an impressive intellect; not to mention a thorough understanding of religion, history, literature, and philosophy. Edit: I've finished this video and it was just as good as I expected it to be. The understated presence of Buddhism and its symbols/symbolism in DMC3 makes perfect sense, being that Buddhism is the most or second most common faith in Japan (depending on who you ask). There's a large overlap with Shinto, due to the considerable amount of syncretism practiced in Japan between Shinto and Buddhism specifically.

  • I just realized that Arkham human and jester forms aren't just meant to deceive Dante and Virgil into thinking he's weak or unimportant he's mocking them too like some sort of warped mirror you see in circuses the cold uncaring serious human form that he presents to Virgil is not only mocking his super serious personality but is also mocking how he lacks humanity with his human form while in Dante's case his demon form presents himself as a jester making fun of Dante's joyous and taunting personality while also making fun of how Dante is lacking demonic powers for the first half of the game

  • Also, Muse, some people believe that despite Jester being Arkham, he had some sort of conciousness apart from Arkham. Do you believe that possibility ? In the revelation scene, he does use the word "we" rather than "I" after all.

    @JabamiLain@JabamiLain2 жыл бұрын
    • Jester most likely is Arkham's physically manifested Tulpa. A split personality but to an extreme. Not necessarily a separate entity but a different aspect to his psyche.

  • I know they had different ideologies, but what about Devil May Cry 5? Dante and Virgil took differing paths as well (and to the extreme, no less). Virgil decided his positive traits (his human half) was interfering with his goal to become a powerful demon like his father. He severed that part of him (leaving his human half to die from a weakened state), which led to V seeking out help from his son and Dante. Dante, on the other hand, knew he needed to fight demonic power with demonic power in order to be on equal or more strength to take on a fully demonic Virgil. But Dante didn't do this by severing his two sides, he embraced both aspects of himself and of his parentage. [SPOILER ALERT] Afterwards, he defeats Demon Virgil which allows V to fuse back with his original self. This completes Virgil and puts him on equal footing with Dante.
