Wolves of India 🐺 🇮🇳 | Mammals | Indian Animals
Wolves of India: There are a total of 4 types of Wolves in India, and the state-wise details are as follows,
Jammu & Kashmir - Himalayan Wolf
Ladakh - Black Wolf
Maharashtra - Black Wolf
Himalayas - Black Wolf, Himalayan Wolf
Indian Subcontinent - Grey Wolf, Indian Wolf
Wolves are the largest members of the canine or dog family, which comprises of wolves, jackals, foxes, coyotes and dogs both wild and domesticated. Black wolves are the rarest of all wolves in India. Wolves live and hunt in packs. They are known to roam as much as 20km in a single day. Once a wolf has found a mate, they usually stay together for life. They form strong bonds with their family and pack-mates, much as we bond with our families. A wolf which has been driven from the pack or has left of its own accord is called a lone wolf. It avoids contact with packs and rarely howls. Himalayan wolves are found in the Himalayas above 4,000 metres as they have adapted to a low oxygen environment, compared to other wolves. Indian wolf is a subspecies of the Grey wolf, having reputation for being cunning. The reduction of their natural prey has led to their dramatic decline.

I think Indian wolves are the same as grey wolves and they are properly addressed as Indian grey wolves. Also I don't think the black wolf is a separate species and it's the himalayan wolf developing a black coat.
Yes, Indian Wolf is a subspecies of Grey Wolf, and Black Wolf is a colour variant of the Indian Wolf, thankyou!
Indian wolf is father of all wolf species in entire world weather its in america or artic wolf 🐺 or grey. DNA says so :>>
What DNA says so? I did read something similar actually. They said Indian wolves are the most basal, or ancient, strain of grey wolf. They have something like 75% grey wolf blood and the rest Ethiopian wolf. Which makes sense, both Ethiopian and Indian wolves have short hair, don’t howl as much, and live in smaller groups.
Actually there are only two types, Himalyan wolf and indian wolf, the indian wolf is a type of grey wolf and the black wolf is just a colour of wolf.
Himalayan not in India
@@truerajaHimalayas is in india, Nepal and China
I had seen a Indian wolf in sultanpur bird sanctuary.
Indian wolves _Canis lupus pallipes_ are a subspecies of the common Eurasian grey wolf _Canis lupus lupus_ ….You are correct, though, Himalayan wolves are a unique species, and _Canis himalaensis_ is their species’ name. Majority of wolves in Eurasia and North America are all grey wolf subspecies. This includes some extinct subspecies like the Japanese, Hokkaido, and a few in America, like the Northwestern and the Mogollon wolf. The only other separate wolf species are the African golden wolf _Canis lupaster_ from Western Africa, the Ethiopian wolf _Canis simensis_ from the Ethiopian highlands, the red wolf _Canis rufus_ of southeastern North America, and the Eastern wolf of southeastern Canada, _Canis lycaon_ . Black wolves aren’t their own species; rather, any subspecies can produce black pups. It’s a color mutation. Some just do it more frequently, it seems.
Wow I love wolves 🙏🕉️🌺
So marry with themy
@@drmahendrasingh9891 bruh
India has two species of wolf, bheriya who are rather smaller then European wolves and himalayan wolves who are bigger then average European wolves, ofc gray wolves are biggest.
Deciduous forest wolves look like normal dogs.
Your very video is awesome it is very good for those whose interest in wildlife science
Thankyou very much for your feedback 🙏😊
FYI: Black Wolf is a another color of Eurasian Gray Wolf
I've seen real wolf in lucknow zoo on 22 feb 2022 they are grey and guide told me they are the actual grey indian wolf and rest of brownies called jackals
Is their any difference between himalayan and Tibetan wolf also Holarctic wolf
I don't think there are any specific wolf subspecies called the black wolf and I don't think they are found in India even if they exist
Black wolves are extremely rare, but have been recorded in Maharashtra (Solapur district) and Ladakh.
@@NativeAnimals Oh. I didn't know about any other wolf species in India except the Indian Gray wolf and Himalayan wolf existing in India
Nice
You should've left out "back wolf" it's just a color morph and shouldn't have been included. Also, it's still under debate but the indian Plains Wolf and HimalayanWolf are under consideration for their own species. So there could be a IndianGreyWolf(Subspecies of GreyWolf), IndianPlainsWolf, and an HimalayanWolf under Canis but as separate species. As of now, most consider the plains wolf a variant of the indian Greywolf and with the HimalayanGreywolf as a subspecies of Grey wolves. The debate comes from the Indian Plains wolf and HimalayanWolf seemingly being waaay more basal than other Grey Wolves.
I like wolves of twilight saga
Those aren't wolves. They were Alaskan malamutes.
These wolf are so skinny as compared to other 🐺... 😀
They live in hot climate
