Isuzu MU-X Suspension Lift Kit Installation - How to install a lift kit in your IFS 4x4

Hey Guys and Gals!
In this video i show you exactly how to change the suspension setup in your IFS 4wd from the standard setup to a Heavy Duty off-road ready lift kit.
For my lift kit I chose Outback Armour pre-assembled front struts with rear heavy duty coils and shocks. The added strength and reliability from the larger bore shock absorbers means that I will be able to rely on my suspension setup to get me through the rough stuff and all the way home again!
In this video i show you how i installed the lift kit into my 2018 model Isuzu Mu-x. To complete the job i used assorted spanners, ratchets and sockets, 2 x car jacks, 2 x car jack stands, flat blade and phillips head screw driver and a few other tools.
The job can be quite easily carried out at home if you have the right tools and will take you between 2-4 hours for a complete lift kit depending on your experience.
The Outback Armour lift kit lifted the MU-X approximately 50mm all around on each corner.
If you enjoyed this video and would like to see more of the 2018 Isuzu MU-X then hit the subscribe button and the thumbs up and stay tuned for the build up.

  • enjoyed your video, very helpful. Only question I have is that I have always been told that any bushing bolt/nuts should not be fully tightened until the car is back on the ground on its wheels and you have moved the suspension through a few compression rebound strokes. i.e bounced it up and down a bit so the bolts are seated correctly in the bushes and don't get torn up shortly after fitting them

    @waynerivett6214@waynerivett62145 жыл бұрын
    • Hey Wayne, what you have heard is very true. There are however 2 ways of doing it properly. The first is as you have said leave the bush bolts/nuts loose until the vehicle is back on its wheels on the ground and tighten the bush bolt/nut back up, or raise the suspension with a jack untill all the weight of the vehicle is on that one point and tighten the bush bolt/nut. It essentially has the exact same effect just different ways of doing it. In the video I jack the suspension up to (ride height) as i call it and then tighten the bush nuts. For ball joints they can be tightened at any point due to there movement being constantly variable. Hope that helps, cheers for the comment 😊

Unfortunately I now have a banging noise doing a hard left turn, especially when hitting a small bump like going into a driveway. The installer has checked it out and found no issues. I think I will install a Roadsafe diff drop and at least rule out bad CV angles. Maybe a CV is on its way out (80,000km up). I'm hoping I don't end up regretting the lift. Also can you recommend an upper control arm?

    @waynevassallo5414@waynevassallo54143 жыл бұрын

    • The performance struts and shocks are a much larger diameter than the adjustables so a bit stronger and can deal with extra heat over long periods of time a little better. The adjustables are great for somebody who is constantly adjusting the weight of there load like a ute etc. But you do have to roll under the 4wd and turn the knobs to adjust them. Sometimes once the knobs get sand and dirt etc behind them they can seize up and become hard to adjust. I guess the performance are a basic shock that is going to give you great "performance" over all terrains with no issues 😊👍

    • After being a mechanic for over 6 years you get used to the torque settings and know how tight nuts and bolts should be. If you are unsure a torque wrench should be used. It is definately worth the effort of doing it yourself. You should sit down and think about all the accessories you are going to add to your vehicle. If you are going to tow or not tow and come to a rough weight you will end up carrying on the front/rear of the vehicle. Then check with the suspension manufactures what suspension they would recommend for the weight you plan on carrying. I hope that helps 😊😊😊👍👍👍

      @danielcollins7757@danielcollins77574 жыл бұрын
    • @@danielcollins7757 It would only reduce the down travel if you had the 20mm spacers in and no bullbar/winch. With the winch and bullbar it causes the coils to sit lower so there is no loss in down travel. It is only lifting the coil seat and not limiting the strut. This is how the struts have been designed for people who run a winch and bullbar to be able to fit the spacers so that the 50mm lift is still gained.

      @danielcollins7757@danielcollins77574 жыл бұрын
    • @@danielcollins7757 Its handles and rides great! Just make sure you get the correct load rated coils. If you have a bullbar and winch get the hd coils but if you don't then get the standard coils.
