  • Today was my grandparents' funeral. I came here hoping to find some kind of closure, I guess. My grandfather was a stoic for most of my life, but I learned so much about him these past few days. The man joined an underground resistance against the Nazis in high school and survived a bullet because of it. I met my great uncle at his wake for the first time. But I didn't feel anything particular until I came to this soundtrack. I've played this game before someone close to me died. I wonder if it'll be any different if I play it now. Just...thank you for posting this. I needed it.

It is not just the beauty, or the emotion that I love, but something undeniably ascendant about the delicate affection that is written into very note, the ethereal reach of the vocal performances. Had it not been for my friends and their support, I would have drowned in the inky darkness of my own despair. So when I picked up this game, I saw that broken version of me in Gris. That younger version of me who needed help navigating through her grief. Beautiful game, powerful soundtrack and message, I love it a lot

    • I have to be honest, I think this is my favorite part of the game. (besides when Gris reunites with her mother's statue) The scene with the red turtle and Gris really makes me think that Gris is using her determination and anger towards her sadness helped her get through her depression. I love this scene for many reason, but the main one is how much it really speaks to me. I can't thank the devs enough for putting this amazingly made game together.

  • (00:10:56) The fact that this track is called 'Perseverance' really shows how depression can always seem to bring you down, or work against you. Especially in the 'Red' chapter of the game where the wind is constantly knocking you down, but you have to remain solid to your ground to progress. The creators and composers of this game and soundtrack are geniuses. Webster's Definition of 'Perseverance': steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.

  • I'm listening to this soundtrack almost everyday since playing Gris. My father died a few days ago. I didn't have the best relationship to him, though always wished we would reconciliate one day. He was my father after all. For me personally, this game is not only about the 5 stages of grief, but also about self-discovery and learning how to love yourself, despite everything that happened to you. Something that he never teached me, but tried to emotionally defeat me. My feelings towards him are very split up. This music has a very clear message to me: Forgive yourself. Love yourself. And forgive the people around you.

  • I saw this game on a Let's Play not long after my mom passed at the beginning of the year. I had no idea what it was about, but as it slowly dawned on me, I couldn't stop crying. Crying because how beautiful it was; the story that needs no words, the art that fascinates and works to create wonderful game play, and the music that really brings home the feeling of the game. You really feel the deep pain and sadness of the character as she tries to hold on to her mom, even though she is already gone. I listen to this music, and I think of my mom, and I know I'm not the only one who Gris has touched like this. A truly beautiful masterpiece.

  • It seems as though most people here have lost somebody close to them in their lives... I haven't lost anyone yet but I feel deeply lost in this life which makes me feel like I can somewhat relate although I can never know what it is like. I believe, that for this reason this game & this soundtrack resonated far too deeply with me. It truly is a work of art and I agree with everyone praising this game... It deserves all the praise it can get. Its somewhat of a bittersweet experience about overcoming the darkness. I like how it shows how powerful the darkness can be destroying everything in it's path but in the end the protagonist stood her ground and overcame the hardships, kind of like overcoming hardships in life. I believe we can all overcome anything this life has to throw at us! It's just incredibly hard to do.

    • @Agnetha Varanasi maybe it is, I'm not sure, but I found the resemblance of mae and "mãe" (mother in portuguese) quite coincidental, so I thought it might be purposeful, you know?

    • I think that it's not the case, since the game is from a Spanish developer and the name of the game already being a Spanish word "gris", meaning "gray". I wouldn't say that it was intentional, though it may sound familiar since both Spanish and Portuguese derive from the same idiomatic branch. The word "mãe" in Portuguese and "matre" in Spanish both derive from "mater" in Latin, showing a possible resemblance. However, I still think that "Mae" is supposed to be a name.

  • Immersing myself in the vibrant tapestry of sound woven by this composition feels like embarking on a transcendental journey through a symphony of emotions. Each note serves as a brushstroke painting vivid landscapes in the canvas of my mind, evoking a kaleidoscope of sensations that dance with the rhythm of the melody. It's as if the music becomes a portal, transporting me to realms where the boundaries between reality and imagination blur into a harmonious fusion of sonic bliss. Truly, a masterpiece that resonates with the depths of the soul.

  • I really like the beginning of new sequences in this game. In the beginning, there was only emptiness and white color also was only a hand. With more colors and emotions, the statue of a Mother is more complete. It is also a great way to describe how emotions are important and describe ourselves. I really love how at the beginning of "Sparks" the statue opens her eyes and Gris starts to cry/sing, letting all the darkness fade away and we can see a full moon. It's kind of obvious and everyone has noticed it, but I want to talk about hah. Briliant work Nomada Studio and You, Berlinist, for creating a beautiful soundtrack for this game. Can't wait for more!
