A Tesla that previously rear ended some shity Volkswagen Polo nock off from China at about the same speed. If I could afford it I would not buy the Peugeot, what would buy would be ether a V70n R or S80 V8 or a normal V70n and swapping in ether a Volvo B5254T4 or Volvo/Yamaha B8444S.

  • I've watched dozens of reviews of this new 508, read dozens of articles and went to my local Peugeot dealer to try this car for myself. And I fully agree with the MAJORITY of reviewers : this 508 is the best blend of everything you can ask to a modern family sedan at this price point. Period. Matt, I'm a huge fan of yours, and I've been watching your videos for many many years now. But come on dude! What's wrong with you guys out there in Great Britain, when it comes to french cars??? The most UNFAIR comment you did in this video, to me, is about the driving. All the motoring journalists (as you like to call yourself) I've read, praise for this cars handling and comfort, especially with the adaptive suspension. Some have tested the 508 against the all new 3 Series, and have proved (by testing the cars like you should) that the 508 offers better handling than the BMW. Which is absolutely no surprise. You can blame Peugeot for many things, but for everything related to the chassis, come on, just admit that they're amongst the very best. Some honesty wouldn't hurt you, my dear Matt.

    • I’ve driven this car and it does handle very well. The 3 series though is RWD and feels a bit better balanced (more equal weight distribution). That said, I’ll still get the 508 over the 3 series! Better looking, better interior and better value for money

      @ravss4594@ravss45944 жыл бұрын
    • Karim KAIEL I just purchased the new 3 series and I never considered this Peugeot (tbh I had forgot it existed as I don’t follow the brand at all, but today I saw one and it was really eye catching ).. but that said I really felt this review was like he was deliberately picking whatever he could against the car. I as neutral or even biased towards bmw really felt it wasn’t completely fair. Would really like somebody compared it to the bmw. Not that it would ever change my personal preference, but just to see where it stands. As the outside does look as premium car. The interiors also look really well made but a bit too much futuristic but that’s a French thing and it fair as it’s a matter of personal taste. What matters is that they are well made. And it’s still way cheaper then a 3 series.

  • Why is he referring to it as a family hatchback? This car has the same proportions and dimensions as an Audi A5 Sportback. It has a big central touch screen standard, digital dash standard, parking sensors... The A5 at a much higher base price, with no parking sensors, no digital dash, same limited space inside gets almost no criticism. The same goes for the climate control on screen - if it's in a Peugeot, there is always a complaint. But if it's in a Touareg, suddenly everybody loves it...

    • Because the entire door with the glass opens. In a Passat only the boot opens, making it a 4 door or saloon. The 508 is now a 5 door, though the design is identical to a saloon with the boot closed. I would call it a liftback, as it's a 5 door in the same shape the Skoda Octavia is.

There is no unbreakable cars anymore, but pls stop with this build quality and german reliability, cause it`s complete b.c. That was long, long ago. And Peugeot viewed as unreliable car is a complete b.c. So far have 4 german cars, audi a4, bmw 3 series, golf 6 and golf 4. Now driving Peugeot 407, 3.0V6 automatic, and it`s a stunning car. The car is a 2005 year model, first reg. is 2010. The interior is like a new, absolutely no rat-tat noise from the elements in the interior. So far the only thing that i have changed in the car is, 1 rear bulb and one ABS/ESB sensor, which is a bad spot on this cars. Every car breaks, but i can easily say that Peugeot don`t brreaks more often then german car, and are more solid on important things. From the whole model range, there could be only 1 bad engine, unlike VW brand that from the whole model range, there is only 1 good engine ....

The system would not be sleek and 100% responsive if you for example try to move the navigation screen with four-five fingers at the same time. Do it with one finger or zoom in/out and it´s almost same sleek as MMI in Audi. I also wonder, who really cares about noise coming from massage? :) This 508 eats Arteon alive. I have driven both so I know what I´m talking about. Two things I miss in 508 are AWD and bigger petrol engines (at least 2.0). The headroom being tight in the back is demonstrated in every online video of the car, although he had 4 fingers out he was clearly only touching the screen with one finger, and the noise from the massaging seats would get a little annoying if you’re trying to relax on a quiet journey. This is by no means a bad car, but I wouldn’t go for it, there becomes a price point where when it goes above it loses its appeal, no matter what tech you get, and this has crossed that line. If I was willing to pay that for this car, I would want an OCD quality level of materials and fit and finish, which isn’t there with the plastics lower down the door, and with the gloss plastic around the screen - it will collect fingerprints.

Every interior supplier is able to provide any material grade - from cheapest plastics to expensive soft-touch materials. The Audi is definitely 2 classes better in terms of quality and durability. Just compare these cars with 200.000km on the clock. I have seen dozens Peugeots and Audis already, even used as Taxis and rental cars. And there is definitely a huge difference. • So ive test driven one of these, the GT line 180 BlueHDi (manual) and its a rrally nice drive and a great place to be in. My local Peugeot dealer had invited me down to the launch evening but I was working, so I made it down midweek instead. Now I have a 3008 SUV and love it, its more pracrical than my old 308 as its easy to put the dogs in and if the mother needs a lift to the shops then she has no problems climbing in. The 508 is a little lower but still a very practical car, huge boot, rear is good enough with plenty of headroom for a 6 foot person, foot space can be a little compromised if your front passenger wants to drop the seat to the lowest position and all the way back (but you will find this on most cars anyway), you can still sit in the back but you wont want to do so for long trips) with the front seat in its normal position, there are no issues for the rear passenger. As Matt pointed out, the usb is on the left but the charging plate is a standard feature on the GT Line and GT (most modern phones have wireless charging now) so its not much of a problem if you leave a cable in there before setting off. The glovebox isnt as compromised as on other Peugeot models (rhd cars suffer this but not lhd ones), its still big enough to get the book pack in. On the road, the manual 6 speed seems improved over that of my 3008 (which has now worn in and become less notchy and more precise), the 508's feels like my 3008's does (its how the 3008's should have been from new), its smooth and precise. If you want the EAT 8 speed gearbox then forget about the old none EAT boxes that Peugeot use to make, the EAT 8 is a real dream, lovely and smooth to use, its the box i would choose on this car. I actually really loved the 508, a weekend with this car would have been great but my Peugeot dealer knows that I love my 3008 too much (for the reasons above, if it wasnt for the fact that the 3008 is more practical for me at the moment, the 508 GT in the showroom would be on my drive this week), but I was that impressed with the EAT8 gearbox that I ordered a new 3008 GT to replace my perfectly good manual GT Line. Go test drive a 508, it wont dissapoint :)
