They got 4th two seasons ago, they were in 4th last season before Conte was fired.....how they can claim 5th this year is overarching is bizarre
Maybe they asking the question because 1. They lose an extremely good strike just before the start of the season. 2. Several new players 3. New style and manager 4. A lot of people had them at the bottom half of the table at beginning of the season.

That’s funny odd that no one said this about Arsenal last season when most had them predicted outside the top four yet we challenged for the title than “ bottled it “ to a team that’s won 7 out of 8 years running ….. that was overachieving but everyone referred to it as bottling . Considering spurs had won the premier league in October to not even secure a top 4 finish sure seems like a massive bottling to me …. 🤷♂️

this is not overachievement, this is about par for the overall level of this Spurs squad
Spurs have the 5th highest valued squad and that is exactly where they sit. I have no idea why Spurs always gets a million excuses. They just lost three matches in a row and it can easily be one more.

Spurs PR is unreal the level of gas they get for achieving nothing is unbelievable, they spoke about title charges after 10 games when they were 5 points clear, now finishing in a Europa league spot is seen as good for them, when they’re about 4-6th every year how’s this an overachievement
Don't forget Spurs fans gassing up their own players earlier in the season. Apparently, Bissouma is better than Rice. Maddison is better than Odegaard. Romero and Van De Ven are a better pair than Gabriel and Saliba. Udogie and Porro are the best fullbacks in England..... They are the most delusional fan base in the world of sport.

Whilst I agree with Kasey about Spurs and their wage bill, they have spent close to £390m over the last two windows. And will probably need to spend more. Plus you have guys who will probably need contract extensions. That wage bill won't remain low forever so there will soon need to be some form of ROI. I think there will be an expectation for champions league qualification. If stay 5th, then Ange will have to hope that premier league teams do better in Europe to improve that coefficient.
Spurs are 4th in net spend over the past 5 years. 3rd highest net spend this season even with 100 million for Kane. Amazing the amount of narratives media comes up with no facts behind them
The way they played I don't know where/whom they blowed all those money on. Maddison looks like a 30mil player at best Brennan Johnson is somehow even looks worst. Van De Ven is decent and probably worth close to the 50mil money rest aren't not even close.

Wow! The Tottenham apologists are at it again! Last year, Arsenal fared poorly over the last 6 or 8 matches and they were exoriated for it. Bottlers! Yet, at the start of the season most of these self same pundits had Arsenal finishing 5th or 6th or worse. This year, yes, people had Tottenham finishing just outside the top four but unlike Arsenal, who finished second last year, Tottenham will likely finish fifth...they want to celebrate it!
Most people had them 8th and lower. Due to Man United and Chelsea spending during the off season, people had them above Spurs.

I’m prob one of most optimistic spurs fans and I had us finished 4/5th at start of season when lane left - I had us there as we weren’t in Europe so would hopefully keep everyone fit while others would struggle with injuries / fact still in 5th with injuries we’ve have and in whole playing good football and competitive in most matches shows just a few tweaks needed for next season
That playing style needs a huge squad which they don't have, at least they have an identity

When you have ESPN calling it an overachievement and Simon Jordan from Talksport defending Anges statements on setpieces, and people defending the high line with 9 MEN on the field against Chelsea, that tells me everything I need to know. I knew they weren't getting top 4 after I saw that earlier on this season.

Can easily argue their start of the season form was new manager bounce and both Postecoglou and player and manager have been found out a bit. They have been shambolic for 25 games now.
