How My Friend Escaped Afghanistan (to Australia)
My heart aches with Afghanistan. It's one of my favorite countries in the world and I'm devastated by what's been happening. Many of you have been asking about Noor -- my beloved Afghan friend and tour guide. I spent every moment of 4 weeks traveling around Afghanistan with him by my side -- he's one of the most sincere and down-to-earth people I've ever met, who has a passion for sharing the beauty of his country.
I've stayed silent to protect Noor's safety, but now I'm so happy to break the news that he and his family have arrived safely in Melbourne, Australia! They managed to get on one of the final evacuation military airplanes out of Kabul. I was able to catch up with Noor via zoom yesterday, and he shared the harrowing details of escaping Kabul at the last second. Here is our full conversation.
ORGANIZATIONS TO DONATE TO:
If you'd like to donate to help those in Afghanistan, please see the following 2 links. If you aren't able to donate, don't worry because just by watching this video you are helping -- all proceeds will be sent to both fundraisers.
1. fundly.com/support-afghan-gui...
This was started by my friend Matt with an attempt to get all Afghan tour guides, fixers and drivers to safety (Noor's colleagues). All funds will support transportation, resettlement, and general humanitarian needs for those displaced or trying to leave the country.
2. www.stimulus.app/campaigns/af...
This was started by my friend and fellow traveler Omid. It's urgent aid for Afghan women refugees. They have partnered with "Women For Afghan Women" to identify refugees who have recently landed in the US. All donations go directly to these women and families. They provide cash grants starting at $300 per person to help with their transition.
Thank you for watching, and I'll see you on Sunday with the next episode from Mauritania.

So glad to see that Noor and his family safe! Such a lovely, gentle man.
I remember walking along the Afghan border watching locals wash their clothes in the river. I was in Tajikistan just meters away from Afghanistan. After, I flew through Afghan mountains on a propellor plane, it was incredible looking down into the country seeing crystal clear waters, mud huts and soaring mountains. After that I thought I’d make a trip but certainly not now. Noor is amazing and glad he’s doing great, man with a great heart. Thanks for updating us
Finally Words From Drew , But First Of All You Got to see Celebrations in Afghanistan Where you Visited , 2nd Last Video on my Channel
This is a testimony of good begets good. Noor - may you make everyday count in your new home Australia.
Australia isn't a home anymore, it's a prison.
I wish your friend and his family the very best. Thank you Drew for your video.
I watched your visit to Afghanistan and Thank God Noor and his family are now safe. Praying for the whole of Afghanistan to be safe.
My heart aches for Afganistan, one of the countries I love the most. I hope and pray everything become better, hope and love return.. send my thoughts to Afgani people..
Not going to happen as long as Rawalpindi still exists.
@@xxxdieselyyy2 What a pakistani city has to do with Afghanistan other than that the Afghanistan independance was signed there?
@@venomm4563 Talibans top leadership are Haqqani network, who are based in Pakiatans FATA areas. . If you attack Taliban, and they're pinned, they simply retreat our East and recoup and u wasted all ur money in attack. Once they recoup they press again and repeat process. Afghan govt gave up cos to finish off Taliban, the fight needs to involve the country that created them , where they always seek refuge in. Armanallah Saleh, VP od Afghanistan now doing anti Taliban resistance in Panjshir reported this too.
@@xxxdieselyyy2 Panjshir is already in talibans hands Amrullah Saleh and Ahmed Masud ran away like a cowards You Indians do not have a neutral media you do not know what is going on in the world. You just know how to blame Pakistan for everything.
@@zainulabedin2442 yeah then why did taliban issue a ban on reporting on Saleh and Masud if they're so confident of a victory and why they issue death warning to anyone who reports resistance news 😜 Hira Mundi ka aulads can't rake Panjshir.
As soon as I heard about the situation in Afghanistan, the thought about Noor and his family suddenly came in my mind. I am so relieved after hearing that he safe.
EXACTLYYY! That was the same feeling I had. Once I heard about Taliban taking over Afghanistan, the first thought I had was Noor's safety, what will happen to him. And I'm so glad to see him being safe. Such a great relief for him, but still it's sad to see the rest of the people being left out of options, left into danger and struggles they've hoped to never experience.
As an Australian, I'm so happy the Australian government helped the Afghan refugees. I hope you enjoy Australia.
I cried while watching, still and worse then this the situation of Afghanistan and Afghans. World should rise their voice and start supporting. More then 35million people are in dangers most of them are children and women. Thanks Drew, for updating about Noor. Happy to hear. Feel happy to see ur love and respect for my country and flag ❤️.
What a heartbreaking story. I am literally crying during this video. I am so happy Noor and his family are ok!

I can't imagine what it must have felt to suddenly have to leave your homeland and run for your life. I'm glad Noor made it out with his family. God bless the people of Afghanistan who are still stuck there.
I'm so glad that gave us an update about your friend Noor. I was worried about what became of him. I'm glad that he is safe.

I just saw the Yes Theory video with you and Noor for the first time yesterday and haven't stopped thinking about him since. Thank you so much for the update. So relieved to hear he and his family are safe and also so sad and angry that they were forced out of their beautiful home. The whole situation is heartbreaking.
Im so glad that he and his family are safe. Goodluck in a new life in Australia man. Drew could visit him there.
Australia is still under a full covid lockdown. It’s closed to all foreigners. Vaccinated or not.
@@kobyschechter8163 what does that have to do with anything
"Drew could visit him there", the guy told him that Drew can't because of quarantine in Australia.
Being Canadian I could never imagine the pain and struggle he went through even tho he was super modest about everything he said, this man is a walking miracle and super lucky to have gotten out of Afghanistan with his whole family! I hope he has a nice and successful life down under!
Thank god Noor has been able to escape! I like every single of your videos, but this one brought a big smile on my face. Was very concerned about his safety, thank god he is safe🙏
Drew on behalf of Afghan community I wanna say thank you for bringing an awareness to what happening in Afghanistan It’s amazing how you decided to must the courage and go to Afghanistan in the first place
