But then I was told by my therapist once that depression can in-of-itself become an addiction; you can become addicted to the sadness, the pain, because it’s the only thing that’s constant in our lives, that feels familiar and ‘safe’ - which is why so many of us struggle to seek help, despite the dire need to be free of it.

  • I’ve been sober in recovery for over 3 years. This last episode is sad. One, I feel like everyone is holding back in these interviews. It doesn’t feel genuine. Demi’s been known in the past to be “it my way or the highway” so I feel like it’s that way with her “treatment team” too They’re afraid to truly say everything. There’s more to be said. Addicts are the best liars you will ever meet. We can lie straight to your face without even the slightest twitch. We can also manipulate our friends and family into believing anything we want. We can make people feel bad for us. I did it to my family for years. You can see it in the video. I would like to hope and believe this moderation thing will work out for her. But I’m not niave. • Thank you Demi for sharing your journey and life story & getting so vulnerable. I have struggled with addiction for many years & it runs strong in my family’s veins. I work hard everyday to continue this road of sobriety. I have people who are so important and are family who have yet to overcome those demons- your story really helps me continue to be loving and not hateful because someone else’s addiction and choices are “selfish”. I found myself hateful towards the people choosing addiction over anything else, wanting to cut all ties with them, but we have to realize this is a disease and they need us to continue to believe, have hope & faith that they WILL OVERCOME ALL THINGS ♥️ Addiction is scary not just for the person using but everyone else who loves them so deeply. Thank you for helping me to continue to try to understand & continue being a support system. It’s hard when you personally have been there in a dark place and addicted. To really know what it feels like & to see people you love continuously throw everything away for drugs hurts so bad- when all you want is change and happiness for them! But I will always continue to pray for these people, & that they will see change if they choose to fight against the things they thought they never could-because if there was hope for you and I there is hope for them as well ♥️ Appreciate you Demi so much! We love you & are rooting for you 😭😭🥰🥰🥰♥️♥️♥️

She definitely used to drink and do drugs because she had no control over her life and now she does, I think that's what makes a huge difference and if she's really reaching out when she's not feeling great, is still in therapy etc. she'd probably stop drinking and weed if it gets too much.

      @JKat94@JKat943 жыл бұрын
    • It works for some and not for others. I'm more on Demi's end of the spectrum, if I lock myself down to sobriety completely I won't, I'll break and take all the drugs I can get my hands on. Same with snack foods. But if I allow myself a little bit of this here and a little bit of that there, it's enough to enjoy it and not overdo it. But my mum is like your mum, if she allows herself a tiny bit she won't stop until she's basically dead. So she's shut that door completely

It actually helps with mental health disorders and helps with other health conditions the negatively effect the brain. 🤷🏽‍♀️ There is a less likely chance that it will be a moment where she’s like this isn’t working enough bc it almost always does. There are also multiple strains that work differently. The best part is that she doesn’t have to worry about it being laced as long as she is going to a dispensary and since she lives in CA there is no reason for her not to.
