That being said, I'd take mine with the V6 as noise still remains an important part of the experience for me (actually, I'd take a DB12 over this, but that's another story). • That looks beautiful. I love the format of the batteries enabling a lower car and therefore seating. Its really important so you don't feel like you're sitting 'on' a car. So many EV cars look slightly wrong because the cabin has been stretched upwards to mask the skateboard of batteries. Great video Jonny. Love your presenting style.

    @benj5386@benj53867 ай бұрын
    • Don’t believe the marketing. They have stuffed the battery where the gearbox and drive shafts normally are. It’s a compromise of a shared platform. It’s why the range is so poor compared to ground up EVs.

      @elliotsimpson1148@elliotsimpson11487 ай бұрын
    • @@elliotsimpson1148 I completely understand what youre saying Elliot. The downside of not using a skateboard of batteries is probably, less range. But.... The happy upside of sticking batteries where gearboxes, fuel tanks and drive shafts should be is the proportions can remain the same as an ICE vehicle. Like I said, I find the skateboard EVs quite often look wrong as the seating position is so high.

I've been wondering why car makers have insisted on having a big slab under the floor, which either robs legroom or forces a SUV shape. What that really says, to me, is that nobody is doing what Maserati's done here (yet...) and that the GT Folgore _doesn't have_ any proper direct rivals (yet...). Given their claim to have invented the Grand Tourer, it's historically neat that they've entered this space first with an E-version.

  • What a pretty thing! They really nailed this, looks & function wise. As a mere mortal, can only hope these will folllow the typical depreciaton curve for left field Italian exotica.Could make for a great 2nd or 3rd hand purchase in a couple of years time.

  • How'd they squeeze that size battery in that tiny t-shape. It's time to pull it out, line it up next to a Volt battery that had what 16 or 18 kWh, and say WTAF?

  • Srellantis clearly is well on the way with EV. What will Lancia bring?

    @boudivv@boudivv7 ай бұрын
    • Lancia needs the mother of makeovers. Most of its magnificent early pioneering pedigree has been long forgotten.

  • Jonny, do you know if this is a Rimac platform, or was it developed by Maserati?

  • For what it is and what it gives for an EV, its great value for the price, you can buy a Merc thats ugly and pay allot more than that , brilliant video Jonny 👍

  • I love it, despite being EV. They should think about the "entry-level" version. Engine only in the rear, 400/500hp, maybe one battery less, and much cheaper.

    • It would be slower, it would leak half a dozen fluids right away and need servicing every other day. No, being a Maserati it's definitely better of electric.

  • Hidden in the spec summary at 2min 33, but if it really can’t top 50kW charging at 400V it has a real problem. There are very few 800V chargers out there and that doesn’t look to be charging too fast given relatively few 800V cars (Taycan, a Kia, this).

  • Johnny, Thanks for reviewing a Unicorn. Now will you please film a test of BMW i4 eDrive40. I've already bought one, but for some reason, I'm pining for your approval of this car you somehow failed to test. Oh and not the M50. Just the eDrive40 on 18" wheels in max efficiency spec. Or even the eDrive35 if you're feeling cheeky. You've managed to miss one of the best, I think. Thanks mate.
