@@drp1bb856 Between 2000- and 2020, there have been roughly 330 Navy Seals killed. Between 1960-1999, the number is about 50. That might be because there are more SEALS. However, they ARE fighting a tiny resistance force, that has the most powerful weapon on earth, a 50 year old AK-47 rifle, versus rice patty farmers who had sticks and hid in tunnels. But then again, when you hold a 100 to 1 manpower advantage on an invasion, why is there even one casualty? Forget experience, it is terrible training. How does one get a chest full of ribbons and medals, never having been in one conflict, one hostile action or war. Who would wear that display in public ? Maybe civilians need to get ribbons for showing up to work, leading the carpool team or keeping their desk extra clean. Maybe a ribbon for raising and lowering the flag each work day.

this doc single handedly became the reason why i wanted to join the military (of course my stupid self didnt up right after high school biggest regret i have) but it still makes me want to workout.
Same. My biggest regret is not serving. I may have not been Seal worthy but I looked into OCS twice in college and didn't follow through. Big regret.
I agree, I'm about to be 31 and the regret of NOT having to serve will always be in my mind because I was TOO SCARED to get in.. Now I just workout and watch this as a way to punish myself as well as my guilt
@@RENEIND Its not too late brother
God bless you. I grew up obsessed with this documentary and I’m 21 and I’m just now about to commit my life to becoming a seal. For me it’s a push till death situation because I don’t want to live with the regret of never pushing myself hard enough to become one. I’m sorry you weren’t able to make it in. I’m going to make you and everyone who never took the chance to join proud 🙏💪

My parents put me through a training program to put you into shape for playing hockey, and I remember having to do a 4km (2.5 mile) run after strength training in the gym, and that felt like hell. I can't imagine getting your ass kicked with the training at the beginning, then doing a timed 4 mile run. That isn't even that bad compared to the stuff they do later on in BUDS/S. I have a ton of respect for those guys.

Instructor Patstone was my boss at my job in 04 he was cool but a hard ass.
Fun stuff if you’re a mildly disciplined young man with zero health problems. It’s tough, but it’s not horrific.

i did all of this in the boyscouts when i was 10. no sweat.
4 mile (6,4 km) run on soggy sand under 32 mins... the majority of people I know can't even run the distance - not to mention the pace on proper ground with running shoes.
Yeah to be able to do that is incredible.
Your so right, I am a have a long history as a distance runner, I had a few training runs on dry sand while on vacation, that was a challenge
And that was after they got worked to total exhaustion at the crack of dawn with hundreds of push ups and sit ups, then dozens of pull ups and dips. I cannot imagine doing a run that long after that, plus being soaking wet with cargo pants and army boots running on soggy sand. Those guys are as conditioned as any human could be.

John Griffith Chaney, better known as Jack London, was an American novelist, journalist and activist. A pioneer of commercial fiction and American magazines, he was one of the first American authors to become an international celebrity and earn a large fortune from writing.

One interesting thing I've noticed: whoever gave out most "heroic" speeches, - like Jackson, or Demeter, or Walker (very unpleasant type, btw), or Evans - all of these dudes DORd later. There’s a fantastic interview DJ Shipley did with Sean Ryan. He screened for Green Team(way beyond what’s expected at BUDs), and did the last part of it on a broken hip. All bodies are different, but it’s hard to not laugh when I hear people complaining about dehydration.

Don never saw combat, but he did earn a Marine and Navy service ribbon. He has a chest full of ribbons. Showing up is all you need to do.
@@maxsmith695 I am talking about DJ, not his father. If you watched the interview I mentioned DJ himself talks about the lack of war experience SEAL/S had going into Afghanistan, and Iraq.

How innocent are you, only a feckin 5 year old would think there isn't bad people out there.
bingo.
There is some sort of greater meaning to it. They’re evoking centuries or maybe even millennia-old philosophies and methods of warrior training. It’s a special experience, for sure, regardless of the reality of the US military complex
