How in the world do you only have 179k subscribers? Your techniques are at least equal, if not superior to, so many other channels. The "improvised" tools you use in each video are certainly professionally made ( steadyrest, hollowing rig) ... nevermind the "inside the vessel while turning" shot! I do not think I've seen that anywhere else. Fantastic work!
He is a true master of his craft
Anyone know where he got his training/education?
I was thinking the same thing.
When I saw 100+ stitches I thought, "oh my god he must have sliced himself open!" Beautiful piece, Olivier.
Now that's what I thought too !!!!
Me too. Kept waiting for the carnage. Is that bad?
Just one stroke of genius after another. From one who has been turning for many years, my hat is off to you!
You are my mechanics of woodturning. I was never disappointed with your videos.
Absolutely phenomenal!! I could not turn off the video!! I'm gonna watch it again when I show my mom in law!
this guy steps his game up every single time. hes always got some new contraption hes made to make his work better. big salute to you man.
Wasn’t sure what sort of “stitches”you were referring to in the title, so I’m glad it didn’t involve a trip to the hospital. That piece looks amazing! Also, I’m impressed by the way you were able to keep the piece stable through the process. Kudos!!
🪵 Incroyablement cool.
Yes, I saw that title, and I was expecting to see a KZhead warning about blood & gore! Thank goodness that did not happen, and they turned out to be wooden stitches. Olivier always amazes me with the detailed work on his pieces.
Just want to say how much I love this channel. Not only are the pieces you create amazing, but so is the videography. Also really appreciate the consistent use of PPE -- so important but all too often ignored.
Olivier, Yes wonderful video work!! I was amazed at the view from inside as you turned! Please consider a video showing us how you captured this amazing angle.
I am nervous when I see my favorite wood workers not using PPE.
What is PPE?

OK, I'll admit it--I fell for the title and screeched "Oh no!" I'm glad you are safe and sound and it's just another incredible design!
"You'll come for the bloodshed!! You'll stay for the craftsmanship!"
I kept cringing in anticipation each time he slowed down the video too!

In a world of constant craziness, watching your videos calms me down to where I find my happy place.
yes me too, it's why I'm addicted to all these arts and crafts channels. they don't spout nonsense. they are just masters of their craft
Kid, you never cease to amaze me! Beautiful!
Once again… great! When reduced to a twelve minute video, it looks so quick n easy. But my favorite part is thinking about the problem-solving process that you are going through. Thanks again for sharing.
Very beautiful Olivier. I can not help but think that it takes a warped mind to think up something like this. Well done.
At first I was a bit worried that the stitches were for you but now I get it. Great job!
Same, when he pulled the chainsaw out, I feared he had a mishaps with it.
I also. I had no idea stitches were for the wood. I am so relieved!
Talk about 'the less traveled road'! We watch the transition of the workings of your imagination take form and function. The process and the result are equally amazing. Thanks.
Ren would be so proud of your log!
Wait... (as i'm watching) A YEAR LATER!? You produced a video with footage from the previouse YEAR! Wow . impressive. Subbed.
Nice work! I always look forward to your next creation.
I was impressed by the technical approach in making this lamp. I'm a retired mechanical engineer and your technique was refreshing.
Wow you are very talented. The jig master I’m humbled.
That’s such an awesome piece not to mention beautiful. The template follower that you made for turning the inside to make it match the outside was really cool to see. Fantastic work once again Oliver.
What most people would throw in the fireplace you see the beauty of the WHOLE PIECE and set out to accentuate the abnormalities. You Mr Gomis are an inspiration to us 64 year old wannabe woodturners!
We're not all living such a nice experience we can create these items. Need to burn it to stay warm in winter or die my friend :+(
This is not only amazing woodworking but also fantastic camera work and video editing!
Great jigs, great work, GREAT RESULTS!!
Magnifique!
Such craftsmanship! I hope the market pays handsomely!!
What a great video to wake up to
Wow! Your work always amazes me! Heather 🇨🇦
This came out great buddy. I was nervous about the 100 stitches part, especially when you slowed the video down lol. What a beautiful chunk of wood. You make some amazing stuff bud, all the jigs and craftsmanship, top notch.
Same. Immediate reaction was "Oh crap! I hope he's ok! Wait....oh. Ok! Nice!"
I almost didn't watch because of the "100 stitches" comment. Glad I read this spoiler post before surfing away.
"Bud"? Are you stuck in the 1950s?
I assumed it was woodworking terminology when I first clicked before I thought about it for a sec. Turns out I was right to begin with. Great work as always!
Simply beautiful!
I have seen hundreds of woodturning videos. This is my favorite one.
I’m absolutely in love with lamp. It’s gorgeous, reminds me of oriental craftsmanship. Happy to see you added the pegs instead of resin. And making it a standing light, even better. The wood is beautiful.
This comment tickled my funny bone. If you've ever seen Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, all I heard when I first read it is "I love lamp". I don't care if you did it on purpose or if it's a simple typo, it's still great!
Great use of what was literally fire wood. The “stitches” are a great addition giving stability, interest, and beauty. I thought you had a wonderful vase as you applied the finish and the colors and grain woke up. Was concerned when you drilled the hole in the bottom. Then as you chiseled out the groove I understood where you were going. This is a beautiful lamp. Well done! BTW, your jigs are fantastic as well. I’m sure you could have done this without them, but your jigs really enhanced and sped your work. Excellent job with all of it. Thank you for sharing.
it's stunning what you come up with and your ability to execute your ideas
Brilliant! Love the vision and ingenuity!
I always thought you were good. Now, I know you are amazing!
Brilliant. Beautiful. Excellent workmanship. Tres Formidable!
Fantastic. Work of art.
You are so good I almost don't like you. This is beyond great work.
Amazing wood turning skills, incredible machines, beautiful camera angles coupled with shots resembling a heavy gun operating soldier... 😁😁😁 👍👍👍.
Your foresight, patience and technical skills for turning and filmmaking are extraordinary. This is setting a new bar!
Your work never ceases to amaze me, all that work and then the patience to leave for a year to season and then produce a stunning lamp. Amazing to watch as always.
You are one in a million dude. Don’t stop creating. Ever.
Wow. Everything you do is so original. 🇺🇸👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼
I've been doing wood working for about 65 years and that was impressive. Nice job.------Bob
Very nice work. Plus, a whole lot of patience waiting for a year to let it dry. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! love seeing the creative jigs and helpers you come up with. Amazing work!
Superbe! Ça fait vraiment un très bel effet! Bravo!
Olivier it is a awesome and stunningly beautiful vase.
tu m' épate a chaque fois quel talent !!
I am blown away by your level of inventiveness. The way you solve problems and fashion solutions and jigs is brilliant!
Truly genius, thanks for sharing and “ inspiring”. Great result

The end result is fantastic!
Duuuuuuude Oliver. Amazing work again.
Bravo
i love the "stitches"...that makes it......such a beautiful piece of craftmanship...love it
You`ve got some mad skills man. keep `em coming, please...
Never believed it will turn out to be nice, not until he turned on the light. It really is a great piece.
That was pure genius.
Nice job Olivier and I was amazed at how little it had moved or cracked over 12 months. You've got a nice set-up with some nice machines too mate. Regards, Kevin.
Du grand art !!! Bravo!!!
Awesome lamp
DUDE~!! I'm new to this genre, and you're the one that I compare all others to, you really present this very well. But, when I read 100+ STITCHES, I thought you were injured -- again, NEWBIE -- and I didn't want to watch. OMG~!! I finally read some of these comments and this made me laugh... and, of course, I was so impressed~!! (and thankful that the stitches were in the wood~!!😉) Beautiful work~!!
Oliver, you continue to outdo yourself! The sheer size and audacity of turning a piece of this size with that many cracks, the hollowing rig, the template, truing it up after it warped, lighting it from the inside, I am but a child at the lathe, you are the master.
A very clever way to achieve a uniform wall thickness. Not to mention a great work of art and functionality.
The work of a true craftsman, congratulations on a job well done!
What an imagination you have creating new techniques and art.
Stunning piece!!!!
Just beautiful!
Omg gorgeous, great job!
Great stuff
You sure do have the gadgets......brilliant!
So much patience, so much imagination and talent. And I’m jealous of your kit. Thanks for sharing 🌞
I read the comments prior to viewing to be sure it wasn't a how-to-get-hurt video :-) I know full well how to get hurt so, I tend to shy away from the painful expositions. Wow, I was not expecting that!! :-) Genius woodcrafting skill and ideas!!!
Master Class!! Well played friend.
Incredible job, thanks for sharing
wonderful to watch such talent, dare (I say genius,) at work! Magnifique!!
🤯Mind blown! 🤯 I'm guessing you work for NASA in your spare time. Kudos!
Very very very beautiful. Very good work.
une superbe pièce. Bravo
Great work. anytime you do a large log it is dangerous and frustrating. Thank you
Despite this feeling like a huge clickbait, what an impressive project!
Nice to see actual wood turning, no epoxy, no glitter, just beautiful wood.
Very nice use of cracks and light
