    • I almost agree, except crime was under-reported then. I was raped when I was 5, and never told anyone because that wasn't done back then. I don't like they make bs up now and make things worse, I just don't want another child to suffer actual evil being done to them. Just because it wasn't reported doesn't mean it didn't happen.

    • @@keithjefferson9863 it was free speech ... the content of the message that people were seemingly allowed to convey ... the stuff that was censored was gratuitous and essentially petty ... but, i thought of that as well... although I think we just weren’t aware of the important stuff that was censored back then ... in addition to the two bed and sexual content and cuss words that weren’t allowed back in the day... but the whole two bed thing was really only for a short time ... at this point the idea of uncensored is dramatically convoluted

    • Carol's autobiography explains the routine of the show. They would usually film the episode twice in a week. The first one would be "safe" and for TV. The second one was filmed for additional cuts and the like, and would also allow for some more improv and would allow for some of the more "racy" stuff to happen.

  • Carol's opening "monologue" is infinitely funnier than any of Johnny Carson's or anyone else. Carol just has such a natural instinct for witty quips and wisecracks, they can come so fast you might miss a few of them. "How did you get in here?" LOL I'm gonna use that one next time I don't wanna answer (personal) questions, lol.

    • The other thing to remember is that was on broadcast television. Aside from the studio audience, everyone at home viewed it on a rather fuzzy screen, with most of the details that we see now completely obscured

    • I was thinking likewise. Of course today this would be tame but actually this was a bit edgy for television then. NO doubt small steps like this & pushing the boundaries of that time was instrumental in the decline of the moral standards of what was acceptable family viewing . I would like to know how much they had to deliberate on the passing of this show.

  • Its refreshing to see comedy where the stars don't take themselves too seriously. Carol and Chris Farley were not all that different. They would forgo their dignity for a laugh and I respect both of them for that.

    • The illusion of "giving up so-called dignity " didn't happen. These talented artist knew how to work in reality of being non sex symbols and not taking themselves so serious, while being serious about what they did. They had/have dignity. That's why we are all still here today !
