The Little Mermaid is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden from interacting with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life - and her father’s crown - in jeopardy. The film stars singer and actress Halle Bailey (“grown-ish”) as Ariel; Jonah Hauer-King (A Dog’s Way Home) as Eric; Tony Award® winner Daveed Diggs (Hamilton) as the voice of Sebastian; Awkwafina (Raya and the Last Dragon) as the voice of Scuttle; Jacob Tremblay (Luca) as the voice of Flounder; Noma Dumezweni (Mary Poppins Returns) as The Queen; Art Malik (Homeland) as Sir Grimsby; with Oscar® winner Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men) as King Triton; and two-time Academy Award® nominee Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?, Bridesmaids) as Ursula.
The Little Mermaid is directed by Oscar® nominee Rob Marshall (Chicago, Mary Poppins Returns) with a screenplay by two-time Oscar nominee David Magee (Life of Pi, Finding Neverland). The songs feature music from multiple Academy Award® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) and lyrics by Howard Ashman, and new lyrics by three-time Tony Award® winner Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, In the Heights). The film is produced by two-time Emmy® winner Marc Platt, (Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, Grease Live!), Miranda, two-time Emmy winner John DeLuca, (Tony Bennett: An American Classic), and Rob Marshall, with Jeffrey Silver (The Lion King) serving as executive producer.
I just saw this movie today at the movie theater and if Pat Carroll who voiced the role of Ursula in the animated movie The little mermaid 🧜♀️, saw the new movie, she would have offered a toast to Melissa McCarthy for nailing the role of Ursula.
Yep.
Halle as Ariel 🤩🤩🤩 she’s the perfect match for this I’m blown away by her singing to I’m in love with this movie ❤
How kids reacted to her was so beautiful😮❤
The best part is…… this doesn’t mean the original is gone… it’s still perfect and precious and much loved… this is just a story for our current time….. I’m so glad that more little girls get to see themselves as a Disney princess, as we did back in the 80’s and 90’s!
Best way to put it ❤
I went to see it and cried at the end.. such lovely, funny and amazing movie❤❤❤😊🥹
I am 22 and I absolutely love this movie 😍🥰 so proud of Halle she did an amazing job 😍she suits Ariel so well couldn’t imagine anyone else playing Ariel now 😍🥰🥰
The way ursula say that 💀😂🎉 03:31
Melissa and Awkwafina makes it for me... But Melissa is most surprising. Even if shes not the lead character she can do it magnificently.😍😍😍💗
I saw it. It was visually stunning and beautiful. I loved that they made it where her and Eric had a lot in common. Halle Bailey was born for this. I got goosebumps every time I heard her sing. She captures the playfulness and innocence of Ariel. And Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, phenomenal!
I loved this movie! My heart goes out to this movie and this cast. This is the most perfect Disney cast I’ve ever seen
Good try
Excellent 👏❤️ looking forward for the part II, melody and morgana 😍
Omg... I think Haley is so. HUMBLE. She's very silent and calm in the real life, while she sings amazingly! I can very much relate to that bc usually I dont sound very attractive or melodic, but I'm very passionate and loving and try to pour my entire soul when I sing... I'm sad I can't befriend her...
I love the live action Ariel and some one spalash flounder
When I went to see the Little Mermaid today everyone applauded near the end of the credits
GO BEhind The scenes on Disneys THE LITTLE MERMAID
Melissa, I love you. You're a wonderful actress. Congrats for your performance as Ursula.
Everyone who was part of this movie done an amazing job I loved it so much 🥰🥰fave Disney live remake along with lion king ❤❤
I'm looking forward to seeing this new take on a classic.
Awesome 💕🌹
(Brooklyn) I loved the movie and hallles voice
Yeah
Fun fact when Ariel was by those shops and that lady who gave her the fork was Jodi benson
Just saw it yesterday, great family movie, the only thing is the darkness, I would like to see more bright scenes in the see. 8/10
They put so much effort on the shooting, they forgot to put it in the writing of the movie, the casting and the editing😂😂😂😂 Which is a shame. The little kid making Flounder doesn't even seem too bad. But honestly....Awkwafina as Scuttle?
I ❤ Lin
I loved the film. I thought it was amazing.😍
hailey bailey made my favourite princess ariel
I watch the movie was so cool❤
I am watch it on Cinema
I just saw this movie….& it was amazing!! I think the entire cast was awesome…. I have to admit….i never saw the original….but i was blown away by the perfect diverse cast of actors! I’m not a fan of many remakes…but this one probably had to be done….as an update! Its the kind of film that will have you talking with the people next to you! We all enjoyed it immensely!
I love that movie🧜♀️🧜♀️
I love your voice Hailey bailey
Love it slay girl
i can't believe that Halle got cast...BEST BLACK GIRL EVER
🥰🥰🥰🥰
I wish this will start as a movie I'd been waiting this in a whole month🥲😊😊
One moment and Jessica alexander ? Where are you Vannesa 'trick?
OMG
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. I love the little mermaid
Haley was flawless. Melissa fell flat on her tentacles. Daveed was funny. Awkwafina annoyed us.
I loved all of the positively portrayed white males in this film with no agenda. Hated the original in which Eric killed Ursula. Of course a mermaid with eyes on either side of her head, a tail, and no experience ever piloting a ship is the logical choice to kill Ursula (as the inept Eric is hopelessly bound in ropes). What were they thinking in the original?
#hallebaliey
Unfortunately, nothing beats the classic, but it was ok
Lol
Kids are so easily pleased but some of us find the Disney classics as very precious and the fact they changed a lot of what the original animators went with, meaning how many of them like a unnecessary remake
you are just a racist
They Gotta keep money coming in one way or another. The cinematic imagineers have been pulling from their classic vaults just to remake and get in with todays sad fucked up world for a few years now. Trying to keep imaginations alive and bring a little joy one movie at a time. Sorry you’re not on board dude by deeming it “unnecessary”. You’ll probably have the same feeling towards future remakes I’m assuming.
Aonther Melisa Mccarthy FLOP!!!
As a huge disney fan stop making remakes. There all horrible. I've tried to give them a chance and it's all talentless cgi and singers heavily auto tuned as there crap. My fave is the lion king and I cried with horror. Disney one day you will go bankrupt and it will be your fault
It's Just You
Lol its millions of us actually. And we're sick of this woke shite. But your entitled to your own opinion but after 16 years of acting and a degree plus tours I'm qualified enough to say its complete shit. Have a nice day
Lion king was their worst remake. This one was definitely their saving grace. CGI isn’t bad, you just want an excuse to call this movie bad.
Tyler...it's not just one person
@@acpctraining most of the people who are hating have not watched the movie. Which is judging a book by it's cover. The trailer for this movie makes the movie seem so much less of how it actually was. T'was one of the best remakes ever. People got to understand how hard disney works to do this. It's not a nice thing to hate on a movie that was worked so hard on for people and for people to criticize for the smallest of things.
I Hope Disney will keep losing money.
Wow that’s rude
I don't think they'll become YOU anytime in the future
I hope so too. Then they might realise that woke nonsense ain't popular. Do we know why moana and encanto are popular???? Because they were amazing original stories. So we ain't racist when we don't like the crap remakes. We hope people should be inspired enough to make inspiring cultural originals instead of black washing our beloved originals. ♥️
In your dreams
Huh why That's rude
Couldn’t be happier with how this movie turned out 🥹🐠😍♥️🧜🏽♀️🫧🦀
