  • Hi Dr.Berry, I loved your videos and practically they saved my life! My A1C came down from 10.2 to 6.3 in 6 months and I am off most of my medications except for one blood pressure medicine. My doctor wouldn't believe it but I just let the test data speaks for itself! In my doctor's mind, she thinks I am too extreme! I saw your Lemon water video and I agreed with you that just lemon juice by itself doesn't provide much benefit! However, if you use the whole lemon (including the skin and everything), it does have some health benefits in my opinion. Four months into my diet, my weight loss stalled and my blood sugar stayed at 110 mg/dL for some reasons that I wasn't aware of. I couldn't figure out why they stalled and what I screwed up! I tried everything and I even thought my black tea and my blood pressure medication was the cause of the problem. I stopped them and nothing change except my blood pressure was getting higher! Then I saw one of the videos from Dr.James Kneller about how he eats a lemon a day and its health benefits. I figured I would give it a try. The way he's doing is kind of gross I have to admit! So I turned the whole lemon into a drink with water and added Stevia. To my surprised, my blood sugar went down to 85 mg/dL that afternoon and it stayed there. And my weight loss resumed within the next few days. I am not medically smart enough to understand why or what's going on but I have to believe that the whole lemon juice did affect my body chemistry somehow. I've been drinking this cocktail for two weeks now. And my sugar is at 75mg/dL now and my weight is going down slowly! I just want to put it out here and perhaps you can investigate if the whole lemon approach indeed has some benefits that we are not aware of. After all, what you are doing is indeed life saving and I really want to help this community to spread out the words and fix some health problems that pharmaceutical companies don't want anyone to fix! God bless you. David

    • ❤❤❤thank you David! This is a wonderful post! When I use lemon in cooking, I always use the whole lemon and eat the peel. I do with other citrus too. I'm going to try to be more aware and intentionally eat a little more lemon and see if I can improve my results too.😊

I had a kidney stone (seen on Xray) and My family physician told me to drink a glass of warm water and half a lemon every morning 1/2 hour before eating. The kidney stone disappeared in 10 days (proven by Xray). Since doing this I have not had another kidney stone in 10 years now. A happy camper!!👍👍

    • My personal experience is the same. Having had stones numerous times, I've learned that at the first sign of those tweaky kidney jabs I get started on the lemon water. It works to pass the stones. I've also heard a urologist say that lemon has been shown to inhibit binding of oxalates(but wouldn't say it dissolved them). So if I'm going to enjoy some high oxalate food like almonds or spinach I always have some lemon water with it.

  • For my 2 cents the other content creator was my first exposure to a veritable mountain of truth and information the no one else was sharing. He helped my husband (who reversed Type 2 diabetes) and I turn our health around. I believe that he's sincere in his efforts to help people. And whether he is right or wrong we should remember that no one is going to be right 100% of the time no matter how well meaning. Many people tout research today that will be debunked tomorrow. And Dr. Berg heavily relies on studies. He doesn't just make anecdotal or surmised pronouncements. Let me also say that many of the doctors who are doing functional medicine are chiropractors. They had a whole body approach when typical Western trained M.D.s were treating symptoms and dismissing concerned patients like me. My husband's doctor told him he would need to be on medication for the rest of his life to manage his diabetes. At 31! So much respect to all the "not a doctors" out there who had more integrity than many "real doctors". There are great people and awful people in every profession. I really appreciate Dr. Berg for stepping up. ❤

Heck, the doctor I see myself is a chiropractor/ kinesiologist that also does acupuncture and uses a lot of natural supplements Standard Process, and others, and he's helped me sooo much! The western doctors have really let me down- can't even figure out the MAJOR problem I have, that my natural Dr connected to adrenal with one session and muscle testing! It's a shame that all these western Dr's won't get onboard with the alternative Dr's and collaborate, we'd have the best medical care available! But just like everything else, it's always one side against the other😔 So frustrating! That's ok, we all know Dr Berg is amazing and he's actually the one most of us found first that even led us to Dr Berry, because you tube recommended other keto videos!

    • How are you sure that the lemon water itself is the reason your blood work improved? If you increased your water consumption as a whole, and changed your diet and lifestyle, it’s impossible to know that the lemon water is what saved you. The only way it would be proof is if you kept every single thing in your life the same (including the amount of water you already consume) and just added lemon everyday. I think people are really passionate about lemon water because it helps them to consume more water in general which makes them feel better which is great! But if there’s no scientific evidence then there’s just not.

When I visited my urologist he told me that the stone was gone but there was at least another 10 in my kidneys. He did not offer much hope but said some people benefit from drinking real lemon juice. Lemonade with real lemon was recommended, but I did not want the sugar. So I started drinking a glass of lemon juice from a fresh lemon every morning. That was about 12 years ago and I have not had another attack. I know you said "maybe" they benefit those with stones, I can attest that it changed my life. Because, if you start drinking lemon water than that means you increased your water intake as well. Unless you already drank that amount of water and just added lemon to it but for most people that is not the case. Also, are you certain nothing else in your diet and lifestyle has changed that might have contributed to this positive outcome? When multiple factors are to be taken into consideration, you cannot isolate a single factor as beneficial. I'm not saying it does nothing, but you should take other factors into consideration too. Unless nothing else has change and all you did was add lemon to the water you already drank.

  • lol, no, I'm not giving up my lemons. I had fatty liver at stage S3. After a year of strict carnivore, it improved only slightly. I started blending a quarter to half of a lemon, peel and all, into 12oz of water daily (I missed a day here and there). By the time of my next fibroscan, my fatty liver was down to stage 0 ... very little fatty infiltration left (and the next HIDA scan showed my sluggish gallbladder was finally functioning perfectly normal after years of issue). And here's the kicker: after starting with the daily lemon water, about halfway through the year I stopped carnivore and went to a more high protein Mediterranean style diet ... yep, carbs baby. The quick and simple act of blending a quarter or half lemon daily for a refreshing lemon water drink, seemed to play a significant role in reversing my fatty liver, not to mention it brought my cholesterol down about 25 points. They were horrible for side effects, so after afew years they came out with doctor prescribed Prevacid; to which I started taking daily. I was on that until I was 17, because my doctor would only prescribe me a 30-day supply and then want me back in for a doctor visit every 30 days(mind you, I was paying $60 per visit, and $250 a month for the pills at the time); one day I asked "Has anything changed in the last six months? Am I getting better or worse?" and he said "Nothing will change, you'll always have GERD." and I said "Then why don't you prescribe me 6-12 months at a time? Why am I coming in here every 30 days if nothing is going to change or needs to be tracked?" and with a straight face he says "I just like to see you." I got angry; and I told him I'll not be coming back, he can shove the prescription up his ass. Walked out, paid for that visit; and I never saw him again as a family doctor. I'm 41 now; he's retired. Here's something they don't tell you; DIET is how you manage stomach acid and GERD. Lifestyle changes, not medication. I was taking over the counter omeprazole for years, because it was the same thing as Prevacid but didn't require a doctor's prescription. I took those until I was 30; and then I did my own research; and learned that by taking proton pump inhibitors(Zantac, omeprezole, prevacid, etc) that your stomach goes into over-drive trying to create more stomach acid since it's acid secretion is being stymied. So if you miss a dose or two; you REALLY pay for it. Know what the solution is? Stop taking them, ween yourself off of them; DEAL with the flare-ups; and then start making better lifestyle choices for what you eat. I still have GERD, but after a month my stomach acid production went back to normal and I wasn't coughing it up into my throat, nor was it readily shooting up into my throat or mouth like it was before. I actually almost suffocated afew times as a teenager from the excess acidic mucous in my stomach, it covered my windpipe and almost killed me in my sleep. This mucous was so bad that when I'd brush my teeth in the morning, I'd have to cough it up off the top of my stomach; and it was a thick, viscous slime; it took hot water and soap to actually wash it off my hands and down the drain; but I had to cough it up every morning to 'clear' the top of my stomach, otherwise it would get coughed up into my throat and choke me during the day. I can now eat things I used to not be able to touch, chili, spaghetti, etc. I tend to stay away from acidic foods for the most part, and I'm not a fan of spicy foods at all; but it's so much better than it was 15+ years ago through most of my adult life and childhood. With GERD I have to becareful how I sit or sleep, and obviously can't have anything 'bad' to eat before bed or I risk it coming back up in my throat; but that's just life with GERD itself; when it comes to eating foods, the most I have to worry about is an upset stomach, bloating and diarhea; but that's part of making better food choices or being prepared for the outcome of what I eat. Also of note; I don't take Tums or anything else; I don't take any medicines to settle my stomach or alter anything like that anymore; because those act as band-aids; and for those of us with intestinal issues we can't be covering them up; we need to be more pro-active with our choices and accept that we gotta curb ourselves away from bad food decisions.

  • My personal experience: drinking lemon water helped me to get rid of the biofilm, accumulating probably due to my dairy consumption. I used to try to clear my throat frequently, singing became almost impossible. I tried lemon water in the morning and late afternoon as well. I could feel a substantial difference within 24 hours and there is no need for constant throat clearing, anymore. This was the problem I had been experiencing for several years. So: even though I really like Dr. Berry’s videos, this is a first instance I have to say, your research, Dr. Berry, was either not thorough enough, or you were too eager to bash your fellow medical professional, whom you happen to call “an influencer”.

Once you've encountered most of them (it happens soon or later, no need to have symptoms each time) and provided you are reasonably healthy you almost never get a cold. That's that simple. Note the terms "most of them" and "almost" there are important. So you can stay easily 3 or 4 years without getting a single cold but one day you meet one of the few ones that your immune system didn't know yet and you are ill for a few days or even for 3 weeks. • I've never been big on lemon water. However, recently I've been adding lemon or lime juice, granted concentrate or from concentrate To the water I am making cold brew tea or electrolyte water with. I don't tolerate coffee but have always been a big tea drinker. I dont do lemon in my water for any reason on that list and I also add drops of home made fruit vinegar to my water as well. I have hashimotos and as a result have reactive hypoglycemia. I've been doing keto and if almost 2 years now and just finished a 1 month stint with carnivore behind digestive issues. I use the vinegar and lemon water as one way to help regulate my blood sugar. Its supposed to slow the absorption of the carbs I may eat. I'm not longer trying to lose weight since I've gotten mostly where I want to be with that. I've lost between 140-150 pounds in the past almost 3 years and gotten several of my symptoms reversed if not minimized. My labs are mostly in the green. I'm a 5'2 woman and went from between at least 260-270 pounds to I'm now around 120. This morning in fact I weighed myself in at 117.4 pounds. My main body comp goal at this time is dealing with the stretched skin and cellulite after such a massive change. I will say between my hashimotos and family history I'm at risk for thyroid cancer which I know is one of the most devastating and aggressive forms of cancer. Last year I had a thyroid ultrasound to see if I showed any signs. That came up showing my thyroid had nodules that showed signs of reduction meaning even after less than a year with keto and if I'd already reduced my cancer risk and k wasn't doing lemon water at that time. Lemon water has minimal health value in my honest opinion. Its great flavor wise, and if you keep it limited and sip throughout the day can help reduce blood sugar spikes if its a concern but I think thats about all it can do and honestly the blood sugar component only works when paired with other effective tools like low carb, if, adequate sleep, excersise, teasing, herbs like cinnamon, reduction of stress, etc that are known as very potent for the same thing. It works better in tandem than alone.

  • Hi Ken, I've watched your videos for a few years as I have metabolic disfunction , IR, higher than 'normal' BP. You have been very helpful. Today, though, your video dissapointed me. No, not becasue I was eating a bag of lemons a day to cure my cancer and diabetes. (I have neither, thankfully, I was making a point. ) I found it vitriolic. But whatever, that can be tour stlye at tmes. I'm not here to argue the health benefits of eating lemons or how they may or may not help you stay healthy or fight diseases in general. I want to help kidney stone sufferers that you may have hurt with your comments. I had a 4 cm kidney stone removed 25 years ago via laproscopy, after my left kidney totally blocked and I felt like I was dying. I had a second large stone about 8 eyars ago that moved over a period of months through my system, blocking my flow in the end to like 90% ... ;I finally peed it out with the help of some flomax , I still have it. It is the size of a pea. No pun intended. My point is since I started eating a lemon a day for 5 years I have zero stone issues. From what I read the acetic acid helps stop stone formation. did your pubmed research include recent kidbney stone - lemon efficacy studies ? Just how many people here have put forth these thoughts besides me ? I saw one , below, I didnt look any further. I'm very confident lemons cured my bodies odd need to form stones, I was having burning pees and cloudy urine at 12 years of age, my dad was a highly respected Pediatrician and he had me in to Children's hospital for an untrasound trying to locate the problem. Of couse in 1973 they could find nothing. I turned 60 this year and have my IR issues largely under control with light keto-IF low sugar low carb routine, I left 30 pounds of weight and pre diabetes behind in 2021 and have not looked back, I'm not well yet but getting there. So for all you kidney stone sufferers reading this at the very least try a lemon a day for 6 months and see. It can't hurt. Of course , yes, identify oxylate foods ayou are eating and limit those. But don't just toss the lemoms out with the bathwater yet.

Never have I had kidney pain issues, or anything related. My point is the size of the stones matter. I do not drink lemon water, but if I had I could also say “look what the lemon water has done for me over the last 8 years, no more stones.”However, these stones remain, minus one I never felt pass, and still no lemon water, no pain, no urinary tract infections, etc. guess I’m one of the lucky ones, along with my tooth enamel.

It took me 3mos before I saw the weight and figure take shape. It took me years so I know for a fact that weight loss will not happen at the snap of a finger. Also, another great indicator is that your clothes become more loose. I take that as a big win over my weight coz I can gain muscle mass and bone density and my weight doesn't change. • Dr. Berry, you are my new medical hero. Because of your videos I watched for the first time two days ago,I jumped in head first into the carnivore diet yesterday morning. I even went so far as to get rid of about $1000 worth of crap food from my fridge, freezer, pantry, and cabinets. There is only fresh beef and chicken in my freezer, a case and a half of eggs in my fridge. I will be adding raw cheese in hopes that it won't constipate like pasteurized cheese does, and lots of real butter. I did keep my seasonings and spices in hopes that they are allowed. I have hypothyroidism, chronic pain, insomnia, chronic constipation, lymphedema, possibly lipodema, weight over 300 pounds. My doctor put me on losarten for blood pressure and a anti cholesterol med two weeks ago. I begrudgingly took them... Until I saw your videos for the first time. You and Dr. Chaffee were saying that the brain, nerves, and everything else in the body needs high fat content to work properly and that cholesterol is good. Last night, I dumped that bottle of cholesterol killing pills into the toilet where they belong. Last night was my first night on carnivore and by 11pm, I couldn't hold my eyes open any longer. I went to bed, and for the first time in years I slept soundly the entire night. When I ate my beef, butter, and eggs mid morning, I had to make myself eat my dinner portion. That has never happened to me before. I'm hoping and praying that my chronic pain is gone next, because next month I have an appointment with my doctor to sign a pain contract agreement for Tramadol. Until your videos gave me hope, I was hoping for a much shortened life span (I'm 63 years old) because the pain, weight, and all the health issues took away my joy and my will to live. You Dr. Berry have given me back that joy, and the excitement and will to carry on. I can't wait to see where I am 6 months and 12 months from now. I know it can only be my best life ever. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

  • About 8 years ago my Urologist recommended that I start taking about a one ounce shot of lemon juice concentrate. I had passed 6 kidney stones in the previous ~15 years or roughly one every 2-3 years. He said it seemed to help some patients but was mostly anectodal and worst case it offered some more vitamin C and antioxidants so no harm if not effective if I wanted to try it. I have had one stone slowly forming, but in the 8 years since taking that shot daily I haven't passed it yet and this was the only change made to my diet or medicines. Not be proof, but something changed to reduce the formation rate by 3 or 4 fold. Personally, I don't think a placebo effect is possible when it comes to forming kidney stones. In any case, I'm sticking with the this routine.

I had several nutritionists and others I studied back 50 years ago and they spoke of the benefits of live enzymes from raw or uncooked foods. I suggest those who are interested to read, Dr. Edward Howel's book, Enzyme Nutrition. I visited back in the early 1980's while down in Florida, Dr. Howell at his southwest Fla. home 3 times. We had hours of interesting conversation on diet, health and nutrition. He was in his early to mid 90's when we met. I use a dozen or so drops of fresh lemon juice in 8-10 oz of warm water. Sometimes I use fresh lime or orange juice. Taste is no problme as I have well water. Have used this for decades with no problem. I haven't seen a doctor since 1966. I have little used for them.
