Private Tour of Eyrignac Manor with its Owner. Not Open to the Public.
Join us on an exclusive journey inside the Eyrignac Manor, a 17th-century architectural marvel, nestled in the heart of the Dordogne region of France.
If Eyrignac gardens are pretty famous and largely open for the public, this special episode of So Châteaux is a rare opportunity to have a look inside the Eyrignac Manor, typically closed to the public.
The owner, Patrick Sermadiras, opens its doors for an intimate tour.
Discover the rich history and architectural significance of the manor, which was rebuilt on the ruins of a medieval castle destroyed during the Civil Wars of La Fronde. The current manor, more bourgeois than noble, reflects a peaceful era with its linear design, numerous windows for natural light, and a central staircase replacing the traditional spiral tower-a symbol of nobility in the past. Notably, the weather vanes and family crest, including a unicorn symbol, add to the manor's unique character.
Venture through the enclosed courtyard with its yellow sand, mirroring the ochre facade of the manor, and explore the two pavilions that flank the courtyard. The Dovecote pavilion signifies the wealth of the Lord, while the Romanesque family chapel, still consecrated and actively used for family baptisms, connects us to the estate's medieval origins.
Immerse yourself in the story of the Sermadiras family, who have lovingly maintained this estate for 22 generations. Patrick Sermadiras, the current custodian, reveals personal anecdotes and insights into the daily life and upkeep of this historic residence.
Don't miss this unique opportunity to step inside the private world of the Eyrignac Manor, a jewel in the French countryside.

Wow - I hope that his son looks after it too - best Chateau I have seen - simply beautiful and meaningful because the items are authentic and belong to the family x
Yes, I agree completely.
I would like to take the time to comment on the latest english translation episodes. I VERY much appreciate them. This series is, I think 70% visual & 30% history (in my case). So being translated in english really allows me to fully enjoy the visual of the episodes as I'm not constantly looking down to read subtitles; as you had to read quickly. THANK YOU! Having these episodes in english I can enjoy all the great architecture, furnishings & gardens of these historic castles/homes.
Beautiful and authentic. Touching to see the owner's love and pride in his wonderful heritage.
That is the most beautiful chateau you have shown yet. Stunning.
He’s so cute and so proud of his home! I love him! Can’t wait to see the gardens….always my favorite part!
Прекрасно, когда дом находится в собственности одной семьи. О нем заботятся и любят.
Absolutely exquisite Thank you for sharing this
Without doubt one of the best manors I have ever seen. It’s absolutely sublime in every way. Simply stunning…
That was way to short. What a beautiful manor house. Would have loved to see the chapel and dove coat. So much incredible history. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you for a lovely tour of a beautiful family home.
I have visited the gardens of Eyrignac many times - they are fabulous, and different! 'English' lawns, and carefully trimmed ivy everywhere, as well as the topiary. All very well organised. But you would not know that the house was even occupied! There is just a large gravel area that allows you to walk right up to the windows . . . . Michael].
Your home looks welcoming and comforting. Votre maison semble accueillante et réconfortante. Merci beaucoup.
It’s a living museum. Everything is priceless. Fascinating and beautiful.

I wish I could listen to this in it’s original French. Something is lost when you don’t hear the voice of the owner. Translation by way if subtitles should suffice for those who know no other languages.
You can watch it in French with English subtitles here: kzhead.info/sun/pd56Za6uf3upo40/bejne.html (some people prefer listening and watching rather than reading, reason why we propose both versions)
The jury is in. Stone and slate last a long time.
Time to repoint w lime mortor to protect the lovely golden stone. The old pointing has sacrificed itself. Time to replace.
Why are paintings hung over the fireplaces. You can see where soot has risen, and some of the fireplaces dont have mantels which makes the heat rise up right to the paintings?
the kitchen is to did for oo la la
wonderful home but this cameraman sucks.
QUE ORGULLO DE CASA,❤❤❤
