The Rothschild family is a wealthy Ashkenazi Jewish family originally from Frankfurt that rose to prominence with Mayer Amschel Rothschild, a court factor to the German Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel in the Free City of Frankfurt, Holy Roman Empire, who established his banking business in the 1760s.
Built in the 1850s, this amazing 19th century Gothic mansion was used in the filming of Batman Begins in 2005. Failed development plans led to its vacated state.

Before refrigeration people used to buy and store large blocks of ice shipped in from Norway and other places for use during the summer. The opening scenes of Frozen show how it was done. The ice would then be packed in a structure like that and insulated with sawdust and the ice used during the summer.

    • It's not a pointless pursuit. You can enjoy your material possessions while you're alive. Just because something doesn't last forever, that doesn't mean it doesn't have worth. The Labour Government of the time refused to accept the house and contents in lieu of death duties. Despite the current neglect the building looks sound. What a tragic waste though. • Seeing Mentmore Towers again brought back many happy memories as I used to stay at The Stable Yard B & B backing on to the grounds for 2 years back in the mid 80s. It was here that some of the Royal Mews carriages were stored back in WW2. Used to spend many a summer's evening walking around the grounds & enjoying the views. At the time the sunken Italian garden was still maintained & could still go in the house (mostly empty of artefacts) but still looked smart particularly when spruced up for the summer ball. They were always filming there, adverts like Timotei Shampoo, an American version of Florence Nightingale (played by Jaclyn Smith). The Earl of Rosebery's Derby winners Ocean Swell & Blue Peter are buried on the grass verge as indicated by the plaques. Several of the trees along the main drive had plaques indicating they were planted by Victorian & Edwardian royalty. At one time Mentmore, Waddesdon Manor & Halton Hall could all see each other across the Vale of Aylesbury.

  • The man in the painting at 17:17 is *not* King Charles I. The painting dates to about a half-century later. My guess, based on a very limited view of the painting, is that the rider is John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, and the painting commemorates one of many military engagements that he led (note the smoke rising from the conquered town on a bluff in the background ... Battle of Walcourt in 1689?). The floating figure holding a palm branch and laurel wreath over the rider's head symbolizes military victory, and the black baton in the rider's right hand denotes very high military command (general or field marshal). The trick is in identifying the walled town on the bluff in the background.

  • Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and ends up haunting them in the near future. Putting our time and effort in activities and investments that will yield a profitable return in the future is what we should be aiming for. Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it.

  • cool find, would like to see more of it. It seemed as if they were slowly letting the place rot, until it fell down on it's own. But there was definitely a presence there keeping an eye on the place or grounds. It makes sense in this day and age that the up keep must be enormous. We can see that the palace had been modernized probably over and over again. That is a grand old building. It's too bad it is not being used and cherished.

    • @Kleos Aye, this I also know, but there are also those, the families we know of are just puppets for those above bt also to note, there are those equal to the entities at the top and even above them, that are working in humanities favour, to restore balance. For what happens in our realm, reverberates throughout all realms in space and time and these dark players have gone too far, and so the clean up, the battles have commenced,

  • The property is Mentmore Towers. It's owned by Simon Halabi, a Syrian-born British businessman and property developer. He bought it in 1999 with the intention of converting it into a luxury hotel. However, lawsuits were filed on the proposed new expansions and the project stalled for a decade. Then in 2009 he considered renovating just the original Mentmore Towers, but his property empire in serious trouble due to the housing market's collapse, the project stalled again, and the property was in decline. By April 2022, a report described it as "abandoned" and "left to rot".
