As an Ethiopian 🇪🇹 I look at Middle Eastern people who has systematically oppressed women, Black/Africans, Jews and the LGBTQ community, categorically rejected democracy and peace deals, and been responsible for virtually all terrorism in the world. Several of the worlds richest nations are in the region, still not a single one has been willing to help their own people. Yet, somehow, they are always the victims. Now, make it make sense? I don't feel the slightest bit of empathy for any of them nor one single iota of sympathy for their cause, because whatever they are going through, they have no one but themselves to blame. Yes, important program. The Mis-Concepsia opf Israelis, the criminal unpreparedness of the military and Intel all contributed to the unforgivable surprise of Oct.7. The idea that Hamas was no longer interested in wiping out Israel grew like a poisoinous toadstool, a cancer, among Israelis. I live only a few hours from Sweden in Norway. Fortunately the Norwegians avoided some of Sweden's terrible mistakes and arrogant actions that we are seeing the consequences of today.

One comment about the number of casualties, though: Notwithstanding the falsehood of Hamas' count, the distribution of combatants vs. civilians etc., there isn't and mustn't be a direct link between number of casualties and morality. It has never been done in any conflict: Germans didn't care how many civilians were killed, Americans never bothered with Japanese civilian casualties, or Vietnamese, and nobody even looks at how many civilians are killed in Myanmar, Syria, etc. The Gazans started this war in the clearest, most savage way. They must be held accountable. When one starts with "the number game", it not only encourages Hamas to double down on their human shield strategy, but it is also a moral failure. It's as if it implies there should be a thing like "the right number". Can Biden - or anyone else - state any number that would be "right"? "sufficient"? That's a horrible twisted concept. No. This counting - as well as "inflicted suffering" by the way - must be rooted out of the discourse.

Jonathan's summary of Israel's failure in the PR war is right on the money. Israel has failed and is contuing to fail to act at the same level of competence in the all important virtual world as its military does in the real world. When it comes to winning hearts and minds, what is real is far less important than what is perceived online. I think part of the challenge is that Israel is following a somewhat conventional warfare model against a terrorist group.

Jonathan speaks with such clarity. Interestingly, with his personal connection to Malmo (he grew up there) I felt it gave gravity to his comments regarding the Eurovision Public Hate Fest. Did IDF level 80% of all residential buildings in Gaza? If so, are 80% of all residential buildings considered military targets? Seems to me, the plan is to dislocate all people out of Gaza. Its a sad situation. I agree that IDF is careful not to commit genocide, but it seems that the plan is to force the civilian population out. Where have you imagined that the people of Gaza are going to live exactly? Are you imagining that Gaza will be rebuilt post-hamas with all the milions of palestinians still there? I pray for peace. I love the Jewish and Palestinian people and hope that this madness will end soon.
Perhaps, but there are additional factors to consider. First, the construction of tunnels by Hamas increases the risk of building collapses. This could potentially trigger a domino effect where striking one building might cause the ground to weaken and neighboring buildings to collapse. Second, many rockets fired by Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) land on their own structures, causing further destruction
1) there is zero proof about the 80% figure 2) its not a policing event Every thing in that area is trying to kill you So there are strategic methodologies To lower risks of ambush I have a friend that was in gaza They placed i camp for wounded And it held for about 2-3 month Field camp In order to place it they leveled the area about 20m down In order to clear from possible tunnels At some point they got an order to evacuate within an hour So they did Then after about few hours On their own eyes They have seen from distance ,strike force coming from the middle of their camp From underground The tunnel was 10m under their camp This is one of storys that did not end in israel fail Its not a simple war Gaza is a stronghold Underground stronghold
It's a catch 22. If you move people out of harms way it's seen as ethnic cleansing. If you don't, it causes more deaths. I have yet to hear a solution other than for Israel to ceasefire, but then we'd be counting the dead in Israel and every day will be 10/7. So Israel has the choice to live and be hated, or die. Notice nobody is offering to evacuate Palestinians, nobody. In war, civilians flee to neighbors, but not this time. Wth is Israel supposed to do other than move people around and provide tents and food?
Palestinian people consist of Jews and Muslims. 9 million Israelis, 2 million Gazans, 3 million West Bank Arabs and 12 million East Bank Arabs
