Smacking your child is not ‘lovingly disciplining your child’ Parents smack their children out of anger not love, there are so many other ways to discipline a child without harming them. I’m a Christian and I’m against this.
I fully agree. In fact yesterday I posted a comment here, questioning the Biblical basis for supporting smacking. I simply don't think the Bible unequivocally condones it. In practice I found it more effective to reason with my (now adult) sons than to hit them to signify disapproval rather than explaining why their actions were morally wrong. Although I do accept that Christians who think that way are within the parameters of acceptable views a Christian may hold. However my comment appears to have been removed. This is profoundly alarming, from the Christian Institute, which purports to be an advocate of free speech for Christians keen to bring a Biblical perspective, and the right to express it. Three or four years ago I had correspondence with the late Colin Hart on this subject, and we respectfully agreed to differ views.
rofl what a tool
