He escaped his 8 years imprisonment in Pakistan based on few weeks of leave for health reason & check up in U.K. Today he is here for over 2 years without visa or passport. As an ex-londoner I can safely tell you that their isn't a single citizens of this city who doesn't hate the obscene wealth of specifically Russian Oligarchs and middle-eastern royalty & oil residing in our city. London property is literally a future-proof investment in case the rugs are pulled out from under them and they need to liquidate assets immediately. No one lives in any of the houses they own; all they are is the physical embodiment of a mountain of dirty cash.
Such a shame people like myself can't even dream of owning a property there anymore

Yeah this report skimpt on a few details, but basically all of those houses or flats are owned by Oligarchs- people who got obscenely rich after being given heavy industry during the breakup of the soviet union. If you were lucky enough to be one of those people your networth started spiralling exponentially upwards overnight. Their problem is that their money is dirty and they need a place to store or launder INSANE amounts of it and London has long been a location to do just that because of the value of the city and the tax practises of territories we used to control. The British are undoubtedly giant hipocrites in these matters as you say. However as our atrocities have faded into history and trading became more honest in our country- you could say that we're highly specifically primed to identify when an individual person or company is trading their dirty money on our doorstep.
Britain conveniently always fails to mention the "dirty money" from the Middle East, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. But this wouldn't be considered as dirty money as this "illicit" wealth is coming from allies, right?! So no harm, no foul.
I can only hope this is triggering a long overdue clamdown on ill-begotten wealth that will (in time) be targeted at other sources too

Take for instance Canada my home country and all the properties bought up in Vancouver and surrounding area Toronto and surrounding area. Russia's actions are intolerable in Europe of the 21st century, and i'm SO glad to see that wide swathes of Europe have viciously struck back at Putins regime. The sooner Putin and his cronies die/are brought down the better for the world.
@@ezrathegreatconqueror No, there's a big difference- in Russia NO ONE who is very wealthy is truly able to be independent of Putins mafia government. Also, many Russian oligarchs seized their wealth in the collapse of law and order in the 1990s - using connections to buy up huge swathes of the countries previously state owned industries, against the interests of the Russian people.

It isn't entirely worth the time invested in analysis of the roots, the long roots of relationship, years of business exchange and interaction over about a war that's been ongoing yet also just started. The point it seems is more prevalent in realizing there are individuals who deserve to face war crimes charges and individuals who may need to have their pockets shaked out.

I feel like quiet a few European said the same thing, I've met French who call Paris their own country. Russian who say Moscow their own country.
@@hachibidelta4237 Perhaps so, but London really has a greater case than those capital cities in other countries. Considering the way London is governed, it's more similar to the Vatican, BIS, or Washington DC, than it is to other capital cities like Paris or Moscow.

I suspect he is refering to the City of London (you know: that square mile between Chancery Lane, Holborn, Charterhouse, Middlesex Street, and the river Thames on the south side) which is a nothing but a corporation where the monarch HAS to ask for permission to enter from the Lord Mayor.
