My best friend was a Golden. We loved each other. He showed it every day for over 15 years. There was never any doubt.... Likewise, he knew I loved him. This was not a pet. He was family and a true friend I've had Goldens before. Great dogs, all.... But this relationship was special, and 6 months after losing him, it still hurts like hell. My next dog will be a Golden.... But it's going to take a.minite before I'm ready again. Losing the last one...... REALLY..... Hurt. But that's the mark of a great dog isn't it? The pain of loss reflects the joy of our friendship. What a great fucking dog he was..... I started out ok, but ended up crying typing this. I miss my friend so much.

I’m not crying, you’re crying. As long as you’re around he’ll never truly be gone. I don’t think you ever stop missing them, but sometimes the tears are from happy memories and not thinking about losing them. Gotta go blow my nose now.
I've had a lot of dogs, but none were as loving as my golden retriever.

We have a new lil baby golden retriever, she's 10 weeks old we've had her for 2 weeks and love her soooo much already ❤ her name is violet rose I call her Vee vee , I didn't think I'd love her this much this fast couldn't be any happier! Going through some tough times with sick parents and Inlaws aging our lil girl brings us a bit a joy in these tough times!

We have a 5 and half month golden who's closing in on 6 months in the next couple weeks...His name is Charlie and he is our 2nd boy golden we've had in the family!! Goldens truly are in my opinion a gift from God :) it's almost impossible to be upset or not smile when they come running over tail wagging to give a greeting 😀 The other thing I notice about Goldens as oppose to our field lab Minnie. Is they are VERY in tune with our emotions. It's like they can sense our mood when we walk in a room and they always have the right disposition for the moment. Almost like mind readers lol. If someone was from another planet or say it was a person who knew absolutely NOTHING about dogs and wanted one. I'd say you'd be hard pressed to find a better breed than a Golden!! Basically the perfect dog. Saratonin booster everyday. True members of the family indeed!! I hope your fur baby is doing well and that you still find time to see the good in life even during difficult times with health challenges in your family. Our family has faced many health challenges, some we won and some we sadly lost..My advice is, It's not the day to day that makes it worth the fight.. It's the brief sweet moments of levity, where just even for an hour, a day, or a few. You know that this will all be okay. Either now or in the end.. I believe God has a plan for all of us. And even when we can't see it, or understand it. There is love and goodness in this life. And I truly believe that's what transcends from this life until the next. The love we have in our hearts for those we care about. It never leaves. We take it with us..Sorry for the essay. I just felt the need to respond after reading your comment and it pulled at my heart. I just got two golden puppies born in June. Its been complete chaos but I'm in love with them. I'm considering a trainer. They play way too aggressive. But they are very sweet.

We have adopted a 7.5 years old female golden retriever (Dharma) who spent all her life in an intensive farm were a lot of different dog species were conceived and sold. She didn't know anything of the typical things of living in a house, like TV, playing with balls and even walking on stairs. Slowly slowly she's learning many things, we love her and we have many signs that she loves us too ❤️

I love my golden and I haven't even met her yet her name is Padmé! I'll be seeing her next weekend for the first time and on June 11th I'll be taking her home!!! I'm going to be a fur mommy and I cannot wait💕

Goldens are the best 🐾❤️🐾 so grateful for each one I’ve had! While having other special rescue dogs as well through through the years, goldens have a special place in my heart! Our current golden is same age as our grandson-they’ll b growing up together…such a gift 🎁

Great video. I could relate to almost all of these. Always a favorite toy in the mouth to greet or bring to me to play. What is it? A fluff and tuff beach ball..it’s dirty and lopsided but he loves it. Brings it to bed at night.

We have 2- 80 lb. Golden lap dogs, wouldn't have it any other way. They are literally velcro dogs. Ours are 10 out of 10 on the list.
Who cares. They bring joy to everyone they meet. He comes home to use because we feed him and he says hello to everyone but at the end of the day he comes home to our family.
My Goldens always stole my slippers so I finally gave them a pair of slippers I didn't wear anymore. They were so funny and a lot of fun. we use to play many games and one was hide and seek and they loved it. They always had to have their eyes on me was funny. They had their huge beds but always ended up in my bed LOLOL. Little stinkers.
Mine, a red one does all of those things plus nibbles on my arms which I've managed to bring under some control. The only thing I'm still struggling with is that on daily walks she constantly finds a scent and races off to follow dragging me behind.
Bring his leash in to where he/she walks right next to your left side. When he/she tries to jump to chase another dog hold onto the leash and say: NO LEAVE IT. After a while they get the picture.
Goldens are bred to stay close as a waterfowl retriever, and will hunt close for upland game. Hounds are the opposite.

My Pug does most of this....add the "kiss attack"....climbing on my body when I'm seated and licking my face ...maybe too much...heh"....This video was important as many dog woners actually might not be able to pickup on these signs of affection....might even react the wrong way....which could hurt the relationship the dog might be trying to build. Masny owners don't pickup on the subtlty of "dog signs"....as much as our dogs try to communicate the best to their ability... Most dogs are smarter than we know.....some just are better than others in communicating....with owers smart enough to pickup on their cues...They don't ask for much....

I lost my third in a row Golden a while back. I’ve never felt so alone.
I lost my almost 13 year old Golden named Harley on August 4, 2022 and still tear up and I miss him every day. Little stinker stole my heart. He was always a clown, smiled all the time, loving, funny and he was so so sweet. He refused to sleep in his bed and in the middle of the night he was so quiet and gentle you wouldn't even know he jumped up on the bed lol. He was my slipper thief, loved playing catch and oh his treats he would come into my office and look at me as if to say: hey mom it's my treat time did you forget??? LOL you could set your watch by him. Yup they are sooooo loving, kind, gentle giants and wouldn't hurt a fly. But....if someone came into the yard trust me he barked to let me know. So sorry you've lost 3 Golden's. God Bless you.

You wouldn't be asking this if you had a dog :) Yes they do love food (esp goldens) but more than that they love their humans. I have a golden snuggle bug at home - he follows me everywhere, intuitively knows if I'm stressed as he will come and give the best and fluffiest cuddles or if I'm annoyed with the kids he will park himself between us, make eye contact and smile the happiest smile to defuse the tension and will even put his head on my chest to stop me from being annoyed, shadow me everywhere day and night (no matter how tired he is). I used to think the same as you that they only want food but having had one in my house now for one year - he is the best thing that's happened to our family and to me - the love they give is immeasurable. I love my boy as much as my human kids and I didn't think that was possible :) They are also extremely stubborn, goofy and full of drama. The sighs and eye rolls mine gives is worse than what I get from my teen lol
