When yes: What happens when its switched back to pong? Is he able to teach a non trained other ape? Is his counterpart a human or a software which should make some mistakes? Does he react differently when his counterpart makes a mistake? Which experiments are planed or made to override his mind? Dreams he (about pong)? I wish I had more knowledge about what’s happening here. Can you help me out ? What milestone is reached here. I am Asking with all honesty and no disrespect.
@@QuietSquirrelClips what is happening is essentially we are creating a computer which can add another layer/interface to our living self. This simply means we have our brain which handles the cognition and our body which handles the responses, what this adds is another computational layer which would resolve many brain issues in case the biological frameworks malfunctions and also possibly in the future enhance them to super human or even better possibilities. This is a very broad simplistic explanation but it’s much deeper.
seems promising enough

Very interesting how the monkey moves his hand up when it wants the paddle to go up
Yup, in the other video, he still uses the joystick even though it's not plugged in, purely out of habit. I assume this is the same thing.
Good catch
The electrodes are reading his intent to move the joystick. Not his intent to move the paddle. So him moving his hand is practically required. The system is designed so that a paralysed person could interact with their devices by imagining using there hands to interact with the device.
My men really set perfect score for this game.
I believe this is legitimately the most impactful research going on right now that involves our future for tech. Major game changer. Incredible works !
amazing! can't wait until I can get my own!
As impressive as it is, I'd like to point out that its still using 200+ neurons for up and down movement, and it still glitches a bit when it comes to switching from one direction to the other causing the monkey to miss a few balls. Improvements will need to be made to control all keys on a keyboard with a speed faster than typing with fingers.
The goal is to remove the actual control from the monkey. It should be interfacing with an AI to decide on whether to go up or down. Gonna have to remove our bias towards maintaining personal autonomy.
Well for one, It's a monkey playing, not a human. Also this a prototype. And when you consider the amount of neurons in a monkey's brain, let alone a human brain, there's still many more neurons to work with to achieve a greater resolution.
I hope I can work with such awesome technologies someday😭😭😭😭😭😭

@@test-zg4hv people already house train monkeys, the problem is that their motor functions aren’t built for what we see as simple tasks and that leads them to struggle, and struggling makes them see less value in attempting when a human could do it 100x more accurately and 10x faster.
