We took in a puppy who had been mistreated and then dumped. He was terrified of people and probably for good reason. It took several weeks before he finally started trusting us. Now, he is my best friend and he brings much joy to my life. There is a special Hell for those that would treat an animal badly. Some humans don't deserve to be counted as human.

I agree. Puppers like her break my heart. Takes a while to get them to be a doggo. But the experience and the end result is always worth the hard work!
Karen, you are true to your name. This man rescued her and is accelerating this process of gaining trust. With dogs and cats and any animal the process is super simple -- give food with a soft voice and you will gain their trust within the first day if you know what you are doing. There is no need to treat them like your 15 year old teenage daughter.
