The tables were turned on February 22, 2020 when Tyson Fury stepped into the ring with reigning WBC Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder. Their first fight was an epic battle of boxing acumen and unrivaled power.
In their second fight, a larger heavier Tyson Fury pounced on Wilder from the opening bell and was relentless in his attack. Fury's pressure continued to rise into RD3, where he landed a right hand that send Wilder the canvas for the first time in their two fights. Two rounds later, Wilder with what seemed to be a bursted ear drum, would be knocked down again. With his balance in limbo due to his inner ear bloody, Fury landed a two left hands, the second to the body, sending Wilder to the canvas again.
Wilder, showing tremendous heart and spirit, continuing to fight although visibly adrift due to the busted ear drum. On shaky legs, Wilder was cornered in RD7. Fury landed a flurry of punches, including one big right hand, and then the towel was thrown in from Wilder's corner.
The fight was over. Tyson Fury stopped Deontay Wilder with the help of a white towel, and became THE NEW WBC World Heavyweight Champion.

  • 5:10 That ending and Fury's ability is so underrated. Look at Tyson's upper body. After throwing the jab and then the 1-2 it looked like Fury was moving back. But rewind and watch it again and look at his feet. He didn't move back, he moved in! Look at his left foot. At the start of the jab Tyson's left foot was on the S of the ESPN logo. And then he fainted backwards, but moved his feet even closed to Wilder! That is what has always made Tyson one of the best - his footwork. It's so underrated in boxing. People just looks at the hands. But a boxer with great footwork is a great boxer!

    • Way fitter my friend. His father hasn't made it a secret. Fury only had 3 weeks of solid camp. His daughter was born still and was dead for three whole minutes before being revived, after which she was on the ICU for two weeks. During this, Tyson was in there with her five hours every day praying with his wife and father. That last week was a week away from the fight... And to top it all off, his elbows were brutally injured. Like, half a year delay level injured. He basically didn't have a jab and couldn't block with them, which is why he didn't back Wilder up and fought so strangely. After the fight he underwent six hour surgery which included bone removal and cortisone injections. His father was heartbroken seeing him get hit so many times when he needn't have had he been in a better state. Begged him not to fight the entire run up. So yeah, basically life decided to pile a lot of shit onto Fury at a very bad time for him. But he pulled through, as always.

    • Fury only had 3 weeks of solid camp. Him fighting different in the third wasn't by choice, but by necessity. He literally couldn't jab. It's why he threw so many of those weird looping shots. He had to keep his elbows bent, couldn't extend them without grueling pain.

When in fights like this, it’s pure instinct and motions after a bit, again his corner saved him. I recall watching this fight and his legs was not under him. Fury popped his ear hard and that was the beginning of the end.
