Restoration of a rare soviet Poljot watch - 24K Gold Plating - USSR Poljot 2609H
This time I´m restoring an old russian Poljot watch.
It´s a soviet, gold-plated watch made by the first russian watch factory.
It´s powered by the Poljot 2609H caliber a hand-wind movement with 17 rubis and a shock protection. It beats with 21600 bph and the lift angle of the balance is 51°.
The watch is in bad condition: The gold-plating of the case is damaged, the glass is heavily scratched and the movement is running wild with more then -600seconds/day.
I need to polish off the old gold-plating. After polishing the case, it´s ready for a new gold-plating, i´m using 24 carat gold. The glass will be polished and the movement cleaned. The crown is damaged so i need to replace that one.
After everything is cleaned, polished and re-plated, I can re-assemble the movement with some fresh oil. After that, this watch is in a good beat (+10 seconds per day) again.
I hope you liked this restoration, if so, like, comment and subscribe ;)

sick watch, 2609 movement is a beast, hard to break, works like a horse. got poljot myself, superb vintage watches.
nevertheless, 13 seconds of deviation per day, as far as I understand.
@@user-rq8nq7yn5z Actually quite alright for a 50-year-old watch that hasn't been chronometer certified. I try to get 15 sec/day deviation on all my Soviets.

Love these older case shapes. Bring back so many memories from my childhood. Parents at new Year parties with neighbours with these watch styles, flared trousers, platform shoes and disco / funk or ABBA playing in the background. Great times :)
The most beautiful thing to see in ALL of this videos is that moment when the balance is put back in place and the watch suddenly “comes to life”! It’s fantastic and I simply can’t get tired of watching it 😊
The balance wheel and pallet fork are my favorite parts of any mechanical time piece because that is where all the action happens.

@@RedDeadRestoration hate to be a skeptic, but I actually don't believe it. That crystal is heavily crazed -- you can tell because those microfractures 'shine' when viewed at an oblique angle.
