🥣 Ingredients:
7oz | 200g | 1 cup yellow lentils
6oz | 150g | 1.5 cup oatmeal
8fl oz | 230ml | 1 cup water
2tbsp oil
1/4tsp salt
2tsp baking powder
1tbsp apple cider vinegar
1oz | 20g | 1/4 cup whole psyllium husk
🥣 Chia “caviar” ingredients:
2tbsp chia seeds
5tbsp | 70ml | 1/3 cup water
2tbsp soy sauce
1tbsp sesame oil
2 seaweed sheets
🧑🍳Cooking tips:
❗You can substitute psyllium husk for flaxseed.
❗ As a sesame oil alternative use any oil of your choice.
❗Chia “caviar” can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.

You forgot a part in your video editing. After the 10 minutes rest of the dough, you obviously put it in a food processor. As your bread buns are smooth and it MAKES NO SENSE for it to look as such if you put oat flakes. I tried the recipe. And this was VERY deceiving.

@@WeCookVegan I've heard you're not supposed to eat more than 1 tbsp of chia seeds per day? Because they contain something that is toxic in too high amounts. Don't you get too much chia seeds from this caviar?
Not nourishing - chia seeds are loaded with phytates (an anti-nutrient compound) that can decrease the absorption of iron, zinc, magnesium and calcium (Harvard - School of Public Health). With regards to this dish, lentils contains anti-nutrients trypsin inhibitors, phytic acid, and tannins that can decrease iron absorption into the body (Harvard & National Institute of Health-NIH.gov) "Anti-nutrients food" should not be eaten at the same time at one meal" to lower the risk of nutrient loss (Harvard). "People who are high risk for diseases related to mineral deficiencies, such as osteoporosis with calcium deficiency or anemia with iron deficiency may wish to monitor their food choices for anti-nutrient content"(Harvard).

@@SamirCCat I did some exploring and found absolutely nothing about toxcicity. However, they are very high in fiber and eating too much can cause digestive issues. I've seen recommendations for 2 to 5 tablespoons a day as being a reasonable plan. However, they all say to build up slowly to that amount so your body has time to become accustomed to the high level of fiber.

So tasty! I used linseed, slightly ground and added a pinch of black onion seed (kalonji) 😋 Currently soaking the next batch and will try fermenting rather than using baking powder 🤞The "caviar" is delicious too, I am thinking of adding some lime zest the next time. Thanks!

While oats are gluten free cross contamination from wheat products during processing is common. If gluten is a concern ensure the oat product specifically states gluten free.

Dont know what hotchpotch ppl make but in india we grind lentils w/o water mix it with chopped cilantro, ginger, onion spices dip fingers in batter n put little little in hot oil n deep fry we call it bhajis for breakfast we mix semolina with little water baking soda onion greenchillies, cilantro etc pour into an appam nonstick pan with little oil cover n cook till done

Yes deep frying is unhealthy but it's done all over the world. I made a general comment abt lentils but what is dat psyllium husk put in the dough n soyasauce put into chiaseeds normally its soaked n shud be had either with milk or smoothie. Maybe she tried her own healthy version
@@mariapinto9886 "it's done all over the world" is irrelevant to this video or discussion. It's terrible for health and shouldn't be done, but that's up to you. What is psyllium husk? Google it and learn, pretty simple. It's something great for health. Where is this "[chia seeds] shud be had either with milk or smoothie" coming from? Who gave you that rule? Is it based on any science? If not, you are again showing your cultural biases. Chia seeds can be had any way one likes. However, one scientific fact that's true is that whole chia seeds don't provide much nutrition, just like if you eat any other whole seeds without breaking, grinding, or chewing them. Studies show that whole chia seeds provide very little benefits (protein, fiber, omega-3, phytonutrients) as they are passed out from the body whole, just like any other seeds are when swallowed whole. They should be consumed ground for any significant benefit.

I made these buns!!! They are very delicious! 😋 I have not make the vegan-caviar, yet. The buns taste like bread. I used regular rolled oats & can see the oats in the finished buns. Did you used quick oats???

I have found cereal oats and their various designations confusing, and different depending on the country you live in. I'm in the US and I suspect the cook used what I would call "quick oats," i.e., oats that take 1.5-2 minutes to cook, vs "rolled oats" which take 3-5.

Wow wow and wow !!! I made the buns not the caviar , it’s so good the texture is perfect for my breakfast with vegan creton , these could be very good to make flatter a tad wider to use for English muffin and make any kind of breakfast sandwiches , next time I will use a tad more salt I am careful with salt but it needed a tad more it can be seasoned with lots of spices or herbs of your choices . This was easy fun to make , I might make a bigger batch and freeze it ! Thank you

Thank you for the recipe. I was hopeful, but mine did not turn out well. I used regular rolled oats, and so the dough was more like a batter. In the video it looks like you used instant oats rather than regular, though the description does not indicate this. I used ground flax since you state that it is interchangable, but perhaps it's not? I tried to compensate by adding mung dal flour to soak up some of the moisture. It ended up very dense and rather underbaked (even after 40 minutes). I might try again using instant oatmeal.
