amniotic membrane for dry eye
Have you had the opportunity to try Optase? If so, what's your experience been? Do you use other products with hyaluronic acid in them? I'm curious to know if there's something else we should try out!
Just started Optase drops. First day did eye compress and wipes (different brand) and then optase hydrate drops. Worked great. Other days varied. Question: How many times a day can these drops be used? Can other lubricating drops between in between if eyes are burning? Suggestions?
I’m using it for my eyelids and hoping to resolve a style on my right eyelid. It may not work without antibiotics or incision though. I’m hopeful.
I'm using the Optase intense PF drops. It's average relief for me. I find it to feel like a sticky coating on my eyes. I don't like the feel. Anyone else have this experience?
For the past three years I have undergone 2 cataract surgeries and 4 Vitrectomy’s. Since 2021 I have been using Optase gel soap, wipes and now warm compress. My BLEPHARITIS has gotten worse over the past two years and I have been wearing a bandage contact lens on my right eye since May 2023. Many days very helpful other days it’s like starting all over again. It does work for me.
Thank you for the information Dr
Thank you for these very informative videos!
You’re very welcome!
Love that you are recommending an Irish product. I have dry eyes and and going to look for that line tomorrow. Sprays work great for dry eyes. Im trying to find and appointment with you.
Much appreciated I have ordered the products in England.😁
Thank you very much
Have to try the AT & Spray to eyes.
Been binge watching these tonight! Love how you offer a wealth of information on a variety of different ocular topics. Keep up the great work you are an invaluable resource for those of us with...eyes! 👀
Maybe thats what i need
Sounds good
I use the Eyelid, Eyedrops from Ivisea. They are more recent in the US since you recorded this video. Do you recommend these?
can these be used along with restasis?
Question, I live in Minnesota and it’s super super cold and dry in the winter. Will this still absorb any moisture in the air? Do you think it would be okay to sprinkle a little water on it before or after I microwave it? Just to be sure it provides enough moisture to my eyes. I’ve been using Bausch + Lomb Thera Pearl Eye Mask for the last 4 months but it’s plastic and doesn’t provide any moisture to my eyes. It’s been working a little bit but not as well as I thought it would.
Hi my name is Trisha I live in Hawaii I wanted to know if using the infrared sauna will help with eyepressure Also how often in a 7 day week would I use ITB infrared sauna
Please discuss & demonstrate how to use the Optease eye mask for the heat aspect of dry eye treatment eg. I just tried the eye mask for the 1st time, warming it 1st in microwave for 20 seconds. If my head is facing upwards, it's extremely hot on the eyes. I think maybe with head facing forward may be less intense, or do 15 seconds in microwave. The instructions say 30 seconds & my opthamologist said 20 seconds. Please share your thoughts on this.
I just started using it today. Purchased all 4 items from wallgreens. This far not bad. I was using the refresh relieva. Mind you i just started wearing contacts after years. I had lasix in 99 and now wear contacts. It's only my right eye that feels a little dry my left eye is perfect no issue. Any tips? I am going back to my Eye Institute tomorrow (Salus U) to see how my contacts are working. I'm wearing Cooper vision daily. Thanks in advance
Do I have to wash the mask each time? and how? Am I put it in the washer and dryer ? Thanks.
Hylo Forte has a pump dropper like that but I think you are supposed to stay it on the eye not the lid????
Dr Dombrowski bc it's a Irish Co. This the only reason I purchased it. Saw my Opthamologist studied your videos bought eye treatments.
I have extremely oily eyelids I cannot use a lot of moisturizing products on and around them.
I found Avenova eyelash/eyelid spray…is this the same? Same ingredients…
Is there an Optase without Tea Tree oil in it?
How can I get optase?
Have Demodex. Medical Professionals must do alot of study. Must be our training. Im a Registered Nurse that failed out Medical school.Middle Age now opportunity over.
I got the entire 3 step, but I gotta say that the eye drops....those are the hardest eyedops to put in. They have this little tiny opening , hard to explain, but you have to put the entire top of the top of the bottle nearly touching your eyeball.
Eye drop with Hyaluronic Acid vs sodium hyaluronate: What are the differnce? both to control the inflammation?
From my understanding, Hyaluron is the blanket term covering both Hyaluronic Acid and Sodium Hyaluronate. While these terms are often used interchangeably, Hyaluronic Acid is the Acid form and Sodium Hyaluronate is the salt form of the molecule. Optase Intense contains Sodium Hyaluronate. Most if not all the artificial tears on the US market containing Hyaluron contain the Sodium Hyaluronate form. Hyaluronic acid is a great moisturizing agent and lubricates the eye. Inflammation is a different ballgame, we used topical steroids and/or Dry Eye treatments like cyclosporine to treat inflammation.
What about contact wearers?
You mentioned another eye drop in a vial using the hyaluronic acid a bit differently. What was the name of that product?
Oasis tears!
I just ordered the intense eye drops. I have tried many many different drops. I will let you know how they work! Thank you for all the information you provide. I have had my tear ducts cauterized, laser treatments and still have extremely dry eyes! I will continue to watch your videos for info!
Hey did they work
I was told if I have my tear ducts unblocked ,it will make the dry eye worse.
Iam hyper sensitive to alot of dry eye products and antibiotics.I use Systane non preservative . Then i scrub with baby shampoo.I use a mask too.I cannot use teatree oil either.Do you have any suggestions for extremely sensitive people?
Optase products may still be a great option for you (mask, drops, spray). The only thing you may want to avoid if you have a tee tree sensitivity is the lid scrub or eyelid cleansing gel. Eyes Are The Story may be something you want to check out in terms of an eyelid wipe/scrub/cleanser. Here is a video I did all about it: kzhead.info/sun/npqhoLB7b5xviHA/bejne.html There's also a link in the description where you can purchase. I would recommend looking into the facial cleanser - it's wonderful! But the towelettes may work for you as well.
Do have MGD again
The product that you recommended for a Dry Eye Spray that protects makeup in not on Amazon. Has the name of the product changed?
Where are you in the USA
This seems really promising. I'm also looking I into Hylo Care... I think it's a German company. Are you familiar with them?
Interesting, its made by the same company, SCOPE. I will reach out to my rep and see if that's becoming available in the US. I know they are planning to launch many more Dry Eye products in the coming year so it may be coming soon!
@@EyeSchoolwithDrD thank you!!!
Hi What is Myopic Fundus? Plz inform me .thanksss
In high myopia, the fundus can become stretched and it is apparent in the tissue, which we call a "myopic fundus"
@@EyeSchoolwithDrD Thanksssss Alooooot
Hi Dr. D. I noticed that you didn't "reply" to the comments below. Hope this doesn't mean you're not supporting the Optase products anymore. Looks like this was made 2 years ago. Could you please do an update. I'm starting Optase tomorrow. Thanks. Moneen
How much % of tea tree oil? 4% like Cliradex? Thank you doctor for sharing.
Optase TTO Lid wipes contain a lower concentration of TTO than Cliradex. While the concentration used is anti-microbial, it’s designed as an everyday cleanser that can be easily tolerated for long term use. Basically the company doesn't disclose the actual percentage but they tell you it's "less" than in Cliradex. And I can tell you it smells less strong than Cliradex and patients don't have as many issues with irritation as compared to higher % formulations.
Baby shampoo to clean eye lids
can dry eyes lead to migraine?
Optase Wipes are larger soft& smell like Tea Tree Oil.
JUST FOUND YOU HOPE YOU WILL REPLY. In what order do you use the products? Cleanse, mask and drops? How often to use the mask and cleanser? My eye surgeon wanted me to get restasis, but totally out of my reach. I am a senior on limited income. Glad I found you!!! Thanking you in advance Have a great day!
Here’s a video I did about my preferred nighttime dry eye routine: kzhead.info/sun/jLmDp6aojIJ6gas/bejne.html I hope that helps! Usually heat then cleanse then hydrate. That helps warm up the glands then you can use the wipe to cleanse and massage the lids and help move the blocked oil out. Then drops last. Restasis is great, but coverage can be tough. There is an out of pocket option that I may make a video on soon! Glad you found me too, thanks for watching!
Hi please if I have quite dry eyes due to lasik ( I did lasik 2 years ago) I have try ciclosporine and tacrolimus I could’nt stand them, burn my eyes. Now I am trying autologus serum, but still did not see a change. Please what other step can I folow?🙏🏼🙏🏼😓
I'm in the same boat. I just went back to wearing contacts and have dry eyes from lasix done over 20 years ago. My left eye in a contact perfect my right eye is dry...i am trying the warm compress for 10 min.... I'm only on week 1 with the contacts.. I'm in day 2 of Optase.. I tried Refresh Relieva i put a drop in my contact before putting in my eye. I'll going to still work on it. I go back to my eye Institute tomorrow to discuss. Hope you find success.
I used Optase for the first time and it stung like mad?
Should we be concerned about the TROMETAMOL listed in the (inactive ingredients)...Isn't that an NSAID used as (Ketorolac) ophthalmic, and even in small concentrations in these drops, is it an issue for long term use? Does it systemically expose your eye to this anti-inflammatory? Or is it too small to be concerning.. How do we know how much of it is in the drop or what concentration? So far they feel great, I just started using them 4 days ago.... I've used everything in the market OTC... I use autologous serum 40%, and was on Regenereyes previously, I want to avoid Cequa, Restasis, Xiidra.. Optase has really helped with inflammation and my sensitivity to light from dry eye. I suffer severe chronic photosensitivity and trigeminal dysphoria from dry eye. What are your comments on this regarding TROMETAMOL in the ingredients.
Trometamol (Tromethamine) is a biologically inert amino alcohol of low toxicity, which buffers carbon dioxide and acids in vitro and in vivo. Trometamol is an effective amine compound for pH control in the physiological range.
My left eye is cloudy. My rt eye is fine. 3 yes ago I had cataracts surgery. I have had tearing but the cloudiness is driving me crazy
You probably need a yag procedure often times after cataract surgery a yag laser is needed.
@@mirandawilburn6043 yes thats true I had to have that
Pls how do i get this product for my son in nigeria?
I'm not sure about the availability of this product internationally. I would recommend contacting the company directly.
My doctor today recommended Optase Protect which you didn't talk about. The package says just spray and leave on your eyes while closed. My doc told me to spray on a pad and wipe around the eye lids. What do you suggest?
I use that its great, but their drops sting,
@@vallee3140 they sting my eyes so bad I stopped taking it.
@@gosman949 strange isn't it?
can you spray with eyes opened instead of closed?
Yes, no harm in that. Just might scare you a bit
Can I just buy a spray bottle and spray just water on my eyes?
How do you sanitize this mask. Seems like it should be sanitized after each use
thought you said tea tree oil was bad for your eyes but that's the scent in the product your promoting. I'm confused???
It has been shown to have detrimental effects on the meibomian glands. Clinically I still use it in cases of demodex infestation. I personally feel it’s still acceptable to use as long as your meibomian glands are being watched/imaged.
Is this drop safe to use in pregnancy?
Artificial tears are widely considered to be safe for use in pregnancy. Optase drops are preservative free. You can reduce systemic absorption by doing punctual occlusion right after inserting the drops (hold down on either side of your nose at the inner corner of your eyes where tears normally drain) for 60 seconds.
These products just treat the symptom not what causes the problem
True. Check out my video on IPL for one of the treatments we do for root cause!
@@EyeSchoolwithDrD No never try
The Optase spray was horribles. It stings and it did nothing for my dry eye. Very disappointed.
funny that the spray is fine but the drops sting me
Unfortunately this product made my eyes burn so bad I had to return them for a refund. Now my eyes are even dryer.
Oh no! Definitely write down the chemicals and start keeping a log to try to find out what your eyes are sensitive to. Do you see a dry eye specialist?
@@EyeSchoolwithDrD yes, i do.

Snake oil
Optase is amazing but horrible product to apply. The bottle is terrible and the spray is no better
Just wanted a simple answer how to use eyelid cleansing gel And didn't get anything from this video. Just waffling on. Sales pitch.
I will make a how to video, thanks for the feedback 😀
SO DISAPOINTING! I tried it it cuz of your youtube, and bummer man. It did nothing for me. I had lid cupping and it was a costly mistake. After seeing this youtube, I had renewed hope. :( :(
I’m so sorry to hear that!
@@EyeSchoolwithDrD ANY suggestions?
@@RubyStandingDEER I'm not sure what you mean by "lid cupping" - can you tell me more?
