    • I wonder if next week when James reviews the 5th film of this franchise if he will mention all of the subtle hints throughout it in regards of the film's twist ending (which in my opinion is 1 of the best I've ever seen). Spoiler: The twist that it's the year 2000 and not 2011 is not obvious to most upon 1st viewing, but upon rewatching you notice things like the flip cell phones, the bulkier televisions, the 1994 gymnastics banner, the reference to The Sixth Sense, and the lack of mentions of the other 4 films.

  • I think that death has power over the real world more than setting up circumstances to kill the people. Like unscrewing the bolts on the fence or snaking the water over to Tod in the first film. He can't just cause someone to fall down and have a heart attack but he can shift the circumstances to be deadly. It's kinda like having Lady Luck hate you, everything unfortunate happens when possible. Death just sets up the dominos and just waits for the characters to be in the right place to knock over the first one.

    @eleanorcooke7136@eleanorcooke7136 Жыл бұрын
    • My understanding was that Death was only able to physically interact with the world when its natural plan had been foiled and it needed to course correct. So the first scene, Death shouldn't have been able to unscrew bolts because the race-track disaster was supposedly a natural occurance.

  • Haven’t seen anyone mention this, but the reason behind the poorly added in CGI may be due to making the film 3D. There’s a couple different techniques for making 3D films, but either way if they didn’t use the right camera or camera set up then they wouldn’t be able to make the film itself 3D. I’d imagine they would be able to make additional CGI 3D though.

  • I really wish New Line would have considered using some of the books for inspiration. Which, oddly enough, the books feature a crap ton of exposition for the characters that we never get with the films. However, in FD: Looks Could Kill you also hate just about all of the characters and there’s a bit of a plot hole. But most of those deaths are crazy creative! I also like that most of the books tie into the early films in some way. Either by tiresomely mentioning Flight 180/Route 23 or one of the main characters coincidentally being the bus driver that hit the girl in the first movie. I’m still reading a few of the other books but so far Death of the Senses has been my favorite!

Not all the books are great but you can’t beat the kills in Looks Can Kill. And the author of Death of the Senses really captures that mouse trap “deaths wind” aspect that I appreciate in the films. He also utilizes red herrings in a clever way where the other books either don’t capture it at all or overuse it.
