  • They keep talking about fluid motion frames only working on DX11 and DX12 games but it also works on Vulkan games, I think they should mention that also as there are Vulkan games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and I tested the beta 5 driver on it, works like a charm when enabling fluid motion frames.

    @bes12000@bes120004 ай бұрын
    • Does that happen via the AMD Adrenaline package or is that a patch you can DL? If it's a patch that's why AMD isn't going to talk about it. That's the benefit of open-source.

    • @@johndoh5182 you have to have the new fluid motion frames driver installed, run the DX11,12 or Vulkan game and then open the AMD overlay(usually its alt+z) and go to the game tab and turn the slider on for Fluid motion frames, if the check mark is green that means it's on, of it's yellow that means you have vsync enabled or the games not compatible or your trying to enable it during a cutscene which changes the screen FPS. You also have to use the AMD metrics overlay currently as it's the only one that accurately shows the correct boosted FPS from fluid motion frames. It also stacks with FSR1,2 and 3. Also it works currently on 6000,7000 and 700M GPU's only atm.

    • I hope it will be available on release in Vulkan as well as it could maybe have some use in emulators which may be more likely to use vulkan than dx, and it may also allow using it in pre-dx11 titles via DXVK (and maybe OpenGL as well via zink, not sure how well that works on windows yet). Would also be cool if they released it on steamos and linux but that may require making it open source leading to it maybe being usable on other gpus using the MESA open source drivers as well which they may not want.

  • I almost scoffed at it till I looked at the specs in comparison to the 6800 XT and did the math. The 7600 XT compared to the 6800 XT has - 93% of the effective bandwidth even on a 128 bus and a quarter the Infinity Cache. - Has 0.88% more Single and Half Precision Compute. - RX 7600 XT 22.57 TFOPS - RX 6800 XT 20.74 TFLOPS - Peak Half Precision Compute - RX 7600 XT 45.14 TFOPS - RX 6800 XT 44.47 TFLOPS - Has 44% less Ray tracing accelerators - RX 7600 XT 32 of them - RX 6800 XT 72 of them Seems this is where the 128 bit bus and cache catches up with it. - Has 61% of the Peak Pixel fill rate - RX 7600 XT 176.3 GP/s - RX 6800 XT 352 GP/s - Has 54% of the Peak Texture fill rate - RX 7600 XT 352.6 GT/s - RX 6800 XT 648 GT/s It has 64 AI accelerators while the 6800 XT has none. That's given how AI is expected to revolutionize just about everything it could be useful if they can infer faster than the 6800 XT can use raw compute. All said I want to see some benchmarks but it looks promising.

Because of the MCM design the RDNA 3 mid tier just seems lacking. You have to pay a lot for it and it uses a bit of power and this gen was supposed to bring power levels down. It's the same for the CPU being forced to pull something from system RAM since it can't use or doesn't have the data available on cache. Someone with more engineering expertise feel free to correct me. I deal far more with code and love to be corrected as it reduces errors in a specific context that can make abstracts from.

    • @@lionelt.9124Ive looked into this very heavily (chips and cheese are an invaluable source) and youre spot on. As the guy said more cache does help but you really need a lot to significantly increase that hitrate especially when youve neutered your vram bandwidth to the point that youre extremley reliant on the cache, each miss is massively more costly. The 4060 ti has the same 32mb of cache which is actually significantly faster than infinity cache and look how that turned out. It would lose to the 3060 ti in a good amount of games at just 1440p. Also what is with the insistance of artifically neutering the memory speed itself on these already massively constrained 128 bit cards? Most 4060 ti's could do 22gbps OCd which is a hige jump from the stock 18gbps. Whats worse is that the 7600 could 99% chance do this too but AMD artificially limited the max overclock on the mem to 19gbps. Do these clowns at AMD just love shootiing themselves in the foot or what? Funny thing is memory binning seems basically non existent as the 20gbps stock xtx could also do about 22gbps ocd so yup, ofc it's artificial.

Heck even in a 2019 game like Mechwarrior 5 8GB VRAM is not enough if you use basic ray tracing (global illumination) which doubles the VRAM usage. On my RTX2080 8GB i see VRAM usage 7.6GB and the game using 14GB which is 2GB higher than normal indicating buffer over run. 1% lows get impacted significantly when this happens. You all keep talking as if AI isn't going to start getting wrapped up in pretty much every piece of software you run. It will, including games. AMD doesn't really have good "future proof" buys right now other than if you actually like RDNA 3 products. I'd rather wait for RDNA 4 because even the low end will be a lot better, with more AI power and AMD MIGHT find they have to move to temporal upscaling, something they've been avoiding but right now AMD is on the losing end of image quality with upscaling to boost fps. Even Intel's XeSS looks better and works better with Intel GPUs. FSR eats up graphics cores to run so while giving a boost it takes away at the same time. Future proofing WILL mean AI cores. It's just the way it is, and you'll figure out when games start using AI for game logic.

Well it might bethat the extra VRAM also helps with training ai models, gives you a larger frame buffer since the card has enough power to utilize the VRAM and finally framegen is phenomenal. It wont get you from 60 fps to 144 fps locked, but it absolutely helps smooth out gameplay (personally at 1440p on cyberpunk with RTX on at decent settings on my 6800XT gives me around 100 fps which is the max refresh rate of my monitor which is just a little old that's why it's 100 hz, but it's still a 1ms ips display because when 1440p first became a thing a lot of 100hz displays hit the market and it's a great middle ground since with my hardware about 100 FPS is what I could expect at 1440p anyway. A great display while I save up and find which OLED I want to grab) which is a huge plus for a GPU of this caliber AND to top if off it can be done at the driver level. No mods or editing .ini files just a simple toggle in the driver suite. What would choose over this card for same price, or even around the same price. $50 more or $50 less even?

  • All the AMD camp is happy about the 16gb and talks about the future of the card...not so long ago the 3060 12gb had too much ram because it wouldn't be fast enough with future games to utilize it...and here we are

    • Who was saying that? Although when ram prices were super high during the mining era it caused *some* problems.

  • There is only 1 major problem with this GPU the Radeon 6700 (and/or XT) 10/12gb exists which are cheaper, has larger memory bandwidth for higher resolutions and performs faster/better! Its situation will change once the stocks of 6700/XT's dries up though... PS. AMD Botched this card, if it was 299 they could have totally destroyed the 4060 and be the king of entry/mid range gaming market... they could have let that 30 bucks slide and just recoup the loss via massive sales, but no they have to be greedy...

    • But AMD is also releasing the 5700X3D within the same timeframe as the 7600XT, and the 5700X3D is $100 dollars cheaper than the 5800X3D. AMD has to find a way to recoup some losses. It just makes sense to place those losses in a product that can be bought by both AMD and Intel CPU users. But if you still feel that way, then in a couple of months, it should drop in price.

  • This is a lot of bullshit to explain why they released an XT model with the same shader count as the non-XT. Basically, this thing is just as stupid as the 4060ti 16GB but cheaper so nobody cares.
