This video was meant to show more of an entertaining view into the process of designing and building a portable, but you're a loser nerd and want to know more about the technical stuffs then this page has all of that info for you to drool over: www.gingerofmods.com/eclipse
And if you're a giga loser nerd who wants to learn how to build your own, I've compiled some resources for that here: www.gingerofmods.com/building...

@GmanModz For all the work he's poured into the PS2 and portablizing as a whole to make the process so much more streamlined and easy to understand.

I feel like the official companies should do this. Make portable versions of their old console like PS1 and Xbox since we don't need as much space for old hardware like we did before
Unfortunately, the market for such a product'd be too small, so it wouldn't be profitable for them. :(
they wouldnt bother, most customers are going for the latest stuff anyway
Several companies did try this a couple years back (PSTV, mini NES, SNES, Genesis, PS1, Game and Watch), but most of the time it didn't sell well

Awesome dude, just awesome. I'm always in awe of people like you & having super talent like you clearly have. The music in the outro just topped it all off. Amazing stuff.
I came here thinking I'd see stuff about recreating ps2 circuits and stuff. Ended up seeing one hell of an entertaining video. No idea who you are, but that's not gonna stay like that for long! Subbed mate, keep up the good work!
I love your videos, man. Thanks for just doing what you're doing.
Youre amazing bro, great work and you inspire me to work on my projects more, thank you
Okay, I have two things to say: 1) I like your new channel name. 2) I was literally just looking at PS2 collections and thinking about mini consoles when this notification popped up. Are you omnipotent?
What was the old channel name? I can’t remember now

Congrats on making the change! The video is excellently made, and the console is the sort of thing I dreamed of as a kid.
I wish I had the knowledge/skills/gumption to do this kind of thing. So cool.

Seems like a massive waste with the steam deck coming soon
@@chiarosuburekeni9325 Well, emulation might not work on the steam deck (which is unlikely) but the real hardware will always work.
@@awii.neocities that's true if you're looking to strictly play ps2 games but the deck will play a good percentage of those games+a good percentage from like 30 other consoles+ 95 percent of all pc games released up until this point at atleast medium settings. Huge vidéo. Thx for the share, u're doing freakin great work!!!! Have my respect .
i wouldn't mind seeing more of the challenges you faced while making the portable. good video
Such a clean job bro!!! Way to go!! Simply perfect! For the loading times probably you will need to use a network interface or mini-router board with an m.2 drive :D
Just use MX4 Sio module,, its become perfect,, no lag or stutter
This is awesome from start to finish! Great project and the editing of the video could not have been done any better. You earned yourself a new subscriber!
Great work! You should invest in a resin 3D printer - it'll make some really nice parts for triggers/bumpers etc :)
You're in the news in the Netherlands or Belgium with this project. Congrats!
Love the skit about the awkward date between you and the PS2. Also, the Wii Mii Plaza submission theme fit perfectly here. Thanks for the great video.
So worth a sub, only bad thing is i wish i could get my hands on one of these, it looks soooooo cool
Recent homebrew developments include the MX4SIO project, which allows for game loading from an SD to memory card adapter. Loading times are significantly faster than the USB drive and help reduce FMV stutter.
This is truly amazing and inspiring. I honestly want to start with disassembling, cleaning, and troubleshooting my fat PS3. Then maybe I could think about doing what you do for myself as well. I respect what you said about working at your own leisure. #Do You 👍🎮

Though I did so anyway to give the laser a fresh clean.

I'd buy something like this in a heartbeat! I don't get a lot of time to stay at home and game which is why the Switch and my Retroid Pocket has became my most played devices even if i own a couple of other consoles. I find it incredible that the PS2's MB can be chopped like that, holy shit.
Especially the slim!!!
If it works that well like that, I imagine using some of the components he used to make a ps2 super slim would be a simple task. A internal memory much smaller PS2
Could you try creating a Portable "Docked Switch". If you would put the electronics from the Docking Station into a switch and use a custom screen you could get 1080p in handheld mode instead of 720p in normal handheld mode
i like the background soundtracks you use in this video
0:01 "hi im ginger" i can tell
Interesting. If I can work out the time and get up the motivation maybe I could learn to do this kind of thing as I'd love to play some older games without the hassle of having to carry around a big console on vacation. Plus I would show off so much to my brother lmao.

Im pretty sure uve probably heard about the mx4sio the usb replacement for loading games... This can improve jittery and oading times... Such a great job mannn
Seeing thumbnail : ah maybe just an emulator *START CUTTING MOTHERBOARD* : THIS IS CRAZY
Great mod! I do have a question regarding an updated revision. Since there are versions of the slim PS2 that still have their pinouts for the hard drive, have you considered doing a "hard drive" version (instead of USB) but in place of an actual hard drive, convert over to SD (via IDE-to-SD adapter boards)?
would make loading times a lot faster, and using a slim ssd to ide converter would make directory listings instant.
Looks really cool!
YOU. ARE. A BEAST, MAN. YOU'RE LIKE MY BEST IMAGINARY FRIEND, BUT JUST REAL!!! I don't know how you're still outside the Steam, and Nvidia blacklists as their competitor XD KEEP GOING BRO
You should solder an M4XSIO/MC2SIO memory card internally to the main board instead of using the usb to load games. You could just have the SD card slot sticking out the side like a PSP. This method is faster with better game compatibility as long as you use the right version of OPL.
Isn't the MC2SIO open source too? If so, he could technically redesign it however he needs it to in order to make it clean asf
9:07 i've seen enough, i'm satisfied
just watched this video and you have my attention bro nice !!!
amazing dude.. my dream. i hope i can buy one of these one day, hoping their quality continues to improve, those chinese aliexpress ones
Love it, this is so cool. Makes me want an official Sony handheld even more now, hope they try to make another once the steamdeck releases.
Problem is that Sony didn't treat their previous handhelds with such care as Nintendo does with theirs. That's why they failed and are unlikely to return.
@@zanmato94yeah the vita didn’t do as well as they hoped and they seemed to focus more on the ps4 so it’s super unlikely
You should create a console that would do universal emulation and sell its mass production via crowdfunding. One project, one product, many revenues.
