I saw young benzema a few times in the champions league but never really bothered much with ligue 1. I'm amazed by this video young raw benzema was like a R9 Adriano hybrid. Its crazy how much his game changed when he went to Madrid. It just shows that world class players need to feel like the star of the team to perform to their full potential.

Very interesting evolution: at first, he was pure power, speed and self-confidence. After that, he lost part of this features and had to adapt to play for Cristiano. In the end, he was pure intelligence and quality, mix of 9 and 10 position, and recovered all his confidence to become the leader of Real Madrid.

I’m tired of this “play for Cristiano”bs. Benzema is one of the finest strikers of the 21st century. Cristiano is top 3 footballers of all time. He was simply better than Kareem and the team played accordingly. I’ve been a die hard Madrid fan since 2001, Kareem was a beast but was not clinical in the early years. The joke was, we counted his shots because every 5 sure chances he was (maybe) about to score. People forget the fans’ outrage when Higuain was traded instead of him, that’s how people saw him. He blossomed to a leader and a Balon’dor winner and ultimately a Real Madrid Legend but we all know if it wasn’t for Cristiano’s 50 and 60 goals seasons during Barca’s golden era the whole attacking line would have changed without much thought.

I remember watching Lyon back in 2005-07, Benzema was amazing - this dude could play as a No 10, 11- on the left and a No 9. I have seen him play those positions for Lyon, and in all honesty he is the sort of player any manager would dream of having as their striker. He is way better than the strikers that play today, players like Haaland or Osimhen. He has the ability to genuinely create opportunities out of nothing. I remember him doing this for Lyon and I was disappointed when Man United didn't get him but as a real Madrid fan I was thrilled. In terms of who is better Mbappe or Benzema, I lean more towards Benzema, like I said he can play three positions and with the skill set you see in the above video he can keep playing at a top club well into his late 30's. Mbappe relies on his speed to make the difference and that will last for a few more years after that his technical qualities will be tested and by then I doubt he will be able to offer much to a big club. Both are great players still but Benzema, I mean even now Man United, Real Madrid, and literally ever other top team in Europe would kill for having Benzema.

Ce sont de beaux modeles de reussites a reproduire mais le football francais a preferer miser sur un autre profil de joueurs ( noirs africains) alors qu'aucun de ce genre de joueur n'ont la magie des francais d'origine maghrebine... As a Madrid fan back then, I really wish to see him play in Madrid shirt one day. I was so happy when he join us in 2009. But at the same time CR also join Real Madrid. I was like "oh no, they will prefer Raul, Higuain and CR and less playing time for Benzema". Thankfully he is so humble and patience enough being a back up player with his quality - and chose stay with us until his time to be a regular starter.

Id argue as a player hes one of the most underrated. When people talk about great ballers he never really comes up in conversation despite the longevity of his career. I dont think of him as a good striker, i think of him as a good footballer. He could do a little bit was everything: heading, dribbling, speed, technical shots, ball control, balance, passing. A player that you could rely upon to do a job that you ask him to do, with no complaints. Always willing to do what was required for the team.

Benzema had his career ruined by CR arrival at Madrid. Seriously. He was always doing the dirty job in the pitch for Cris to shine. The times that he's has an opportunity, he was already tired and then couldn't even finish properly, giving him a bad finisher fame, which was unfair. When Cris was gone, he could rest more in the pitch, which automatically enhanced his football level drastically.

Ruined by CR7 is unfair to say the least.. football is a team sport and Cristiano was a better and more established finisher than Benz, Benzema’s adaption to the role he played ensured his longevity both in an individual capacity and in the RM squad. He upgraded from a talented but strictly centre forward to a Playmaker forward and became an irreplaceable asset for the team till the day he left Madrid. So even though he lost on say 75/80 odd goals, but in the process he became a Legend

If it wasn't all of this situation we can see surely he could be a more awarded player. There's another thing that made Benzema lesser that he was. The Valbuena episode. That was I think his disgrace at international level in such a way that even in the last world cup the other players pushed him up out the national squad.

The first full game I saw Benz in was that match against Man United in Lyon. He was unbelievable and gave them the run around. I think it was that match that really made Alex Ferguson wanna sign him, but he obviously chose Madrid. I followed him ever since and he’s had a great career, becoming a Real Madrid legend in the process. To consistently be Madrid’s striker - under that pressure of the club - after so many years is just incredible. Many quality strikers haven’t lasted long there like Benz did.

Very interesting evolution: at first, he was pure power, speed and self-confidence. After that, he lost part of this features and had to adapt to play for Cristiano. In the end, he was pure intelligence and quality, mix of 9 and 10 position, and recovered all his confidence to become the leader of Real Madrid.

I remember watching Lyon back in 2005-07, Benzema was amazing - this dude could play as a No 10, 11- on the left and a No 9. I have seen him play those positions for Lyon, and in all honesty he is the sort of player any manager would dream of having as their striker. He is way better than the strikers that play today, players like Haaland or Osimhen. He has the ability to genuinely create opportunities out of nothing. I remember him doing this for Lyon and I was disappointed when Man United didn't get him but as a real Madrid fan I was thrilled. In terms of who is better Mbappe or Benzema, I lean more towards Benzema, like I said he can play three positions and with the skill set you see in the above video he can keep playing at a top club well into his late 30's. Mbappe relies on his speed to make the difference and that will last for a few more years after that his technical qualities will be tested and by then I doubt he will be able to offer much to a big club. Both are great players still but Benzema, I mean even now Man United, Real Madrid, and literally ever other top team in Europe would kill for having Benzema.

I remember seeing him and Ben Arfa back in 2007 when they were still prospects. Benzema for sure had the better career of the two, but goodness, they were both untouchable in those days in Ligue 1.
He had a lot of speed in his younger days, as young players always has and some of them can take great advantage of that like Mbappe is doing now, but Benzema looked more technical than current Mbappe. Maybe Mbappe can improve that part of being more playmaker in the coming years. Just my Opinion.

As a Madrid fan back then, I really wish to see him play in Madrid shirt one day. I was so happy when he join us in 2009. But at the same time CR also join Real Madrid. I was like "oh no, they will prefer Raul, Higuain and CR and less playing time for Benzema". Thankfully he is so humble and patience enough being a back up player with his quality - and chose stay with us until his time to be a regular starter.
Id argue as a player hes one of the most underrated. When people talk about great ballers he never really comes up in conversation despite the longevity of his career. I dont think of him as a good striker, i think of him as a good footballer. He could do a little bit was everything: heading, dribbling, speed, technical shots, ball control, balance, passing. A player that you could rely upon to do a job that you ask him to do, with no complaints. Always willing to do what was required for the team.

The times that he's has an opportunity, he was already tired and then couldn't even finish properly, giving him a bad finisher fame, which was unfair. When Cris was gone, he could rest more in the pitch, which automatically enhanced his football level drastically.
Ruined by CR7 is unfair to say the least.. football is a team sport and Cristiano was a better and more established finisher than Benz, Benzema’s adaption to the role he played ensured his longevity both in an individual capacity and in the RM squad. He upgraded from a talented but strictly centre forward to a Playmaker forward and became an irreplaceable asset for the team till the day he left Madrid. So even though he lost on say 75/80 odd goals, but in the process he became a Legend

The first full game I saw Benz in was that match against Man United in Lyon. He was unbelievable and gave them the run around. I think it was that match that really made Alex Ferguson wanna sign him, but he obviously chose Madrid. I followed him ever since and he’s had a great career, becoming a Real Madrid legend in the process. To consistently be Madrid’s striker - under that pressure of the club - after so many years is just incredible. Many quality strikers haven’t lasted long there like Benz did.
