We got lucky and found an original 1955 Chevrolet and brought it home!

On this episode we get the Hot Rods ready for a local cruise in and meet up with our buddies. We then travel north to check out a junkyard with some classics buried inside. We didn't have much luck at the junkyard but on the way home we stumbled upon one mans personal collection and end up bringing home a sweet 1955 four door.

I'm at the age, I don't care, two door, four door. Post or hard top. But seeing a women excited for a project car. That's over the top. Enjoy your project.

    • yep..i'd rather have a 2 door, but it's a 4 door, and it's fine...and please leave the 4 doors a 4 door..none of that 4-door-to 2-door conversion cr*p, at least not the butchery with piecing together door parts to fill the void and putting in plexiglass rear quarter windows that don't even roll down...if your going to do it at all, at least have a 2 door VIN(body change), a set of proper 2 door doors, and a donor car to get the proper rear quarter window parts and structure from..better yet, just leave it a 4 door..I remember back in the day, a common thing people did with tri-five 4 doors was to shorten it, cut it behind the front doors and weld the rear end on after removing the section behind the front doors to the rear window...a "shorty"...yuck...what a butchery mess, looked much better as a 4 door...

    • Still cant stomach a four door on a tri 5 .. ...however, i DO like the fourdoor flattops of 59,60, GM's with the giant fishbowl rear glass!..those are pretty cool ( i actually bought a four door flattop 60 belar ) 🤣

      @filthbomb@filthbomb10 ай бұрын
    • @@filthbomb I agree with you about the 4 door "flat tops" on the '59-'60..the were 4 door hardtops(pillarless)..looked FAR better than the 4 door sedans with all their framing and the extra little quarter windows...and yes, the tri-five 4 door sedans look "framey" as well as the 59-60's...again, the '56-'57 4 door(pillarless) hardtops look FAR better than the 4 door sedans with all that framework..unfortunately, they didn't make a factory 4 door hardtop in '55..has less to do with how many doors there are, really, than it has to do with all that thick, vertical framework that upsets the flowing lines of the styling..actually, I am not that fond of a 2-door sedan in the tri-fives, or the '59-'60 for the same reasons..plus, the roof and windshield are "taller" on the sedans, both 2 door and 4 door. Interestingly, the unique one-year only styling of the '58 suited the sedans much better...less framework, and it worked with the styling better. Back to this '55, I would still leave it a 4 door rather than butcher it up making it something that it is not...

But who needs to row around town in a classic when the column shift drives so good? They’ve never been sexy but work real good when setup with the right amount of slop. You could make them cool!

  • Hey man great find. It's amazIng you can still find a classic in original and almost complete condition. I found the identical model in 1979 and still own it. The only difference was my 2 tone paint combination had the roof in sea foam green, which is like a mint green. My Two Ten also had no deluxe heater with only the fan knob. And I had no radio with the radio delete cover with the bow ties. Your door panels still look great. I've restored my 55 twice and currently have a 350 cid with a muncie 4 speed and 3.08 rear end. I added the Belair trim and interior. I also painted it like a 2 door hard top, dividing the 2 tone paint line the same. The top is white with blue pearl flip flop and the bottom color is midnight blue. I'm from Swampscott, Massachusetts, and saw this 55 Chevy Neptune green 4 door sedan driving through my town with a for sale sign in the window. I pulled the guy over and noticed right away the exact white Tennessee license plate with black numbers was a 1971 issue. When I first got it and driving it around in primer, wise guys would ask me, what are you gonna do about the rear doors? I said, yeah let me find a nice rotted out 2 door from the Northeast and trade my rust free Tennessee classic. That's always my main bragging point that it's from Tennessee. Congratulations and good luck cruising!
