On this episode, I purchase a 671 Weiand blower kit right off the display shelf at Summit Racing and install it on my big block chevy.

That is so sexy, damn I do love the supercharger sounds.
Your kid was riding the hell out of that atv! Good for him!
Love that new blower whine.
Thank Mr. Dickie Scruggs for making 12V Dave's dream come true
Damn right. Thanks to their chance encounter, the legend of dickey will live on forever through 12 and 6 v Newberns.
@@fukemallgarage Now THAT SHITS COOL (6v Dave 🇺🇸)
That sounded really nice when you started it up.
Anyone else smile at their screen when that beast plopped down ?
That is a cool set up. Thanks for all the info. Cheers
That loud pedal is going to be insane
That is bad ass. Love it.
Looks even better with the chrome reverse back...👍
Love your content, David.
Serious Hollywood Knights' Project X vibes. Duke and Smitty would be proud.
Little 6 volt has got some skills on the quad!! 57 looks amazing! Can’t wait to see it out in the wild.
My dream was also a blower , i put a BDS 8/71 on my 540, 69 Firebird 11 yrs ago. Street car. 👍🏻👍🏻 57 looks badass
Your channel and your 57 just keep get more awesome!
There is nothing better in this world than working on cars with your kids!
Son: Doing quad donuts all over the lawn Dad: Just films it lol
Might be one of my favorite videos. Tri 5, BBC, and a blower, what else could you possibly need? Oh yes, burnouts!
Barefoot and helping my pops out with his car is priceless!
Outstanding, that just made that 57 perfect. It'd look great in a photo next to the Hulkamino.
Man she a beauty 👍👍👍👍looks like you have the bigger pulley on top. Sounds gorgeous keep up the great work
I have a similar setup on my chevelle . Close to twenty years with no major problems. If you keep it 8 to 10 pounds of boost your engine will last . I put a manual vent on mine and " burp " it when it shut it off . Have fun !
David, if you haven't already seen it, you gotta check out a cult Aussie film called 'Running on Empty' 1982. While I love our home-grown vehicles, as a young bloke watching this film opened my eyes and cemented a love for US 50's and 60's cars and imo has one of the most iconic 57's put to film. Cheers 🍻 🏁
every shoe box needs a weezer! especially one that you once spun. this ought to be FUN
Car went from a 10 to an 11! My son is about the same age as yours and he is joining me in the garage now too. I hope he becomes a regular on the channel. You’re a good dad.
Those chrome rims are just about perfect on that Chevy... beautiful.
Me: Why’s he got a whole tub of belts? Me on summit: I’ll just order one of every size because I’m not waiting any longer. Nvm
Been waiting for this video, love this car and the story behind it
Got to have that whine with a blower.
Great video. It makes me want to go buy a tri five of my own. I already have two front fenders, one 55 one 57, both are Drivers side but at least it's a start.
Do it 👍
Always love the blower whine. Hot Rod had a tech tip from the 80's, to drill the flats on the pulleys with 1/8 in holes to help stop blower whine. I don't know why a guy would want to do that🤔
what an awsome dad ! nice blower man love the show dave
Thank you
Beautiful car! Burnout tease what a burnout tease!!!;!;;;;!!!!!
I used to have a poor man’s blower back in the day. No blower at all. Just a summers brothers cam gear drive on 283. 1” straight cut gears sounds more like a blower than a blower. FWIW Nice job! Looks awesome!
Been to summit in McDonough summit and probably spun that blower!!!! How cool is that
i loved the story of you getting that chev
The way you made the belts work is you had your son help you.
It's on display now on top of your engine 😊
I love seeing you and your son doing stuff together, proud papa watching his son doing donuts on the grass.
Thank you
@@12VoltDave hi
I love those 57's with a roots blower. Ours has a BDS 8-71. This video reminded me of putting our Nomad together before the Street Machine Nats in DuQuoin. We won best engine and got a pic of it in the Car Craft or Hod Rod I don't remember which. Both our blower cars have power steering and an alternator. My 79 Regal still has the vacuum booster. The brackets and belts are always entertaining. I look forward to more on this project.
Congrats it sounds amazing and the look on your son's face when they rolled out the cart priceless 👌
No thanks scammer scum
You can run either style pulley then drill holes between the pulley ribs and it lets the air escape...another old school tip.
❤ Love your videos awesome Contant Contant
Thanks so much!
Wanting to see that burnout . 😂
I like the steelies. Those wheels fit that badass car perfectly!!
I love your channel, David. IMHO you look happier doing this than when you were on FG. KEEP IT UP SIR!!!
"Spotto a blown 57 chev". (Aussie movie buffs will know what im on about).
I could fell the excitement when you fired it up. Great job chasing done parts to make it happen! 😎
Thanks Bob
Hìb
Reminds me of back in the mid 60's, in Long Beach CA. One of my brother's friends had a '57 Chevy. It had a small block (probably the stock 283) with a blower. That Yellow '57 looked wicked, with the blower sticking out of the hood. Go ahead and take one of your other less than perfect hoods and cut it to clear the blower. It will duplicate the old school look of the 50's/60's.
Why Not ! Blowers for everybody .I love my blower car .Good stuff cant wait for the burnouts.
RIP to your lower back lol! Glad to see you gaining some momentum 6v Dave! That thing is going to be fun to burn some tires off with!
Little David the barefoot mechanic 😊
Awesome set up
I have spun that blower many times!
Damn that looks good 😍
You kids and your cars. Back in the day........
Greatest car ever made imo. Love the ol chevys. Even cooler with a blower lol
Man something about those cars. They are so slick.
Now all you & Finn got to do is talk Tony into putting a blower on his '55 & you guys can call yourselves The Blew Crew! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My 2nd favorite channel!!!! Hell yeah!
Dave.....luv you on KZhead and Faster with Finnegan !!!! Been down and out for a bit with a serious family issue....loosing my mother to cancer. Watching the new Faster with Newbern & Cotten has honestly given me so much joy !!!! ABSOLUTELY love the new pigpin episode ❤❤❤❤❤ I have built 6 47-54 3100's and it is one of my fav and best GM body styles ! It has lightened my day in an otherwise heart breaking time in my life. To watch you and Cotten do the pigpen/S15 swap...Really is awesome, Pope was was dead on !!! You guys nailed it. Hope motortrend keeps you guys on and increases the budge for fun to come !!!! From one gearhead to another.....THANK YOU !
Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Too Cool!!!
Gonna be awesome when your done with the install.
Hey David, the car looks killer and the engine sounds awesome. Old school is the way to go. Love your channel and videos, along with the great cars coming out of your garage. Take care and be safe.
Listen at dat Wind Mill Whine
It looks absolutely baddass right now. Pretty cool that you were able to get that demo that sat for all those years. Cool backstory to it. Love everything about this car.
Good shape for the shape it's in.
The little man doin' donuts made my day! 😀
Drink a beer every time Newbern says "Summit". 🤣
Watching the new faster with episode now, glad we get to see your mustang and beer money also so excited
Great job and it’s looking great 👍👍
Thanks 👍
Looks great Dave. Reminds me of all the hot rods in Southern California when I was a teen. Thanks for taking us along the ride. Sounds great as well!
Love it Dace your Kid is in the engine bay helping with v-belt fitment and he is barefoot HellYeah Brother
13:03 how ya sittin for belts? OMG!!!! No wonder Georgia has a belt shortage! =). Your Son looks like a RIPPER on that quad! Its cool that you are teaching Him how to wrench and RIP. Much love from Alabama "The better southern state"
I like it a lot !!!! 🔥
I'm following your footsteps, I recently destroyed my small block due to a blower so now it's going on a big block I'm building, cant wait, this is giving me the motivation
I like the blower ! I ain’t never been able to afford one but I think they are so cool looking and sound great ! I like the kids style sitting in the engine bay fitting belts and barefoot! Reminds me of myself when I was a kid! Loved not wearing shoes and still enjoy being barefoot getting close to retirement! Enjoy the blower and that sweet whine that the belt gives ! The louder the better!
Looks awesome
Dave, I need a belt for my Pinto, it's about that long!
Looks awesome! Love the channel 🤘🏼
It would look great if you cut the old hood and mounted from the radiator forward so you’d still have the 57 Chevy nose look.
as far as the hood goes I think I would try to find another hood and cut it where you would have approx. the front 1/3 of the hood and cut right at the core support and be completely open from there back. that would look killer especially from the front!
Your kid is awesome. First he’s bearfoot in the shop helping straight to ripping the quad in the yard. I’m sure with your help he’s going to be a little bad ass! Great job on the blower looks freaking correct that way haha
Wicked episode Dave. Really looking forward to the 1st drag and drive You take it on. Mick London
Puttin a blower on a 57 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😎😎😎
That look on your face once you set it on the engine and stood back…. “PRICELESS”💯 Can’t wait to see the final burnout I mean outcome!😁 Chris-Tuscaloosa Al✌️
Wow Awsome build
Love it... :-)
you will like the revs from blower congrats on selection
I spun that blower LOL on 2019 Great Job !!! Looks awesome
That is so damn cool David. 0lanning on putting an 6-71 or an 8-71 on my 440 for my 57 Dodge pickup when I build her. Can't wait to see the drive video. 😎👍
Like your Shop Lion ! Been watching electric steering under $200 kia Fyi... luv tri-fives
Loos great and sound s great ! I love blowers on BBC's . I have an 8:71 on my 37 Chev Gasser. Great tech tips as well. Looking forward to you going for a spin. Thanks for the video.
I just put a Dyers 871 on my 545ci BBF. That combo is in my 1980 Mercury Zephyr wagon
I would've put the Plug wires on 1st, before installing the blower. The Car has come a long ways since you bought it, But It is looking very Cool Now!! it is cool to see your boy working on the 57, reminds of being a kid helping around a sprint car shop, when I was his age, a next gen gear head!!
I didn't have them and couldn't wait. I could wait, but I didn't want to.
I totally understand not wanting to wait, for more parts & get head of myself, lmao@@12VoltDave
What AN Awesome Rigg.Good to know you have the specs now 57 Chevy is always been A Favorite.^^
Sweetness illustrated! I have the same blower with the Quick fuel 650 carbs and the same scoop. I also have a 16 jet nitrous plate. I didn't like the way the filters held the scoop on and the hassle of installing them. I made a clamping bracket to hold the scoop to the carbs. I can run it without the filters if I want to. Its easy to flip around if it rains. I also used knurled nuts on a post on them so the filters can easily be put in with no tools. I really enjoy your channel. We think alike. My build is a little different. Chevy inline 6 292 (308). Weiand 6-71 with 2 Quick Fuel 650 DP and 16 jet nitrous plate. Ryan Falconer V-12 head. Billet crank, steel billet rods and billet solid roller cam all by Crower. Mains dowelled and girdled. 5 stage dry sump. Electromotive direct fire EMS. 5 speed going in my 53 Chevy 1/2 ton drag and drive pickup. Hope to see you there next year. Thank you for your time.
We need to start a gofund me for the kid to get him some shoes. 😂🤣
12voltDave just became... 6-71Dave...😎
This my favorite car of all time ,all though I’m not a huge fan of the patina look 57 chevys are awesome no matter how you fix them up,my favorite 57 of all time was the project X 57 of hot rod magazine,my dream was to one day own one that was yellow with a blower sticking off of the engine bay with no hood of course,Tony Danza driving it in the movie Hollywood Knights was instrumental in making me dream of one myself, anyway glad to see you doing your thing ,great video
