Pacquiao vs Thurman FULL FIGHT: July 20, 2019 - PBC on FOX PPV
On July 20, 2019, eight-division world champion Manny "Pac Man" Pacquiao silenced all the critics when he took to the ring in his first fight since turning 40 to battle then-champion Keith "One Time" Thurman in a welterweight world title bout, live on FOX Sports Pay-Per-View.
"It was fun," said Pacquiao. "My opponent is a good fighter and boxer. He was strong. I'm not that kind of boxer who talks a lot; we were just promoting the fight. I think he did his best, and I did my best. I think we made the fans happy tonight because it was a good fight."
The sell-out crowd of 14,356 got treated to great action from the start, as an exciting first round was capped off by Pacquiao dropping Thurman for the first time in his career with a straight right hand late in the round.
"I knew it was too close," said Thurman. "He got the knockdown so he had momentum in round one."
Thurman made it into the second round but continued to have trouble with Pacquiao's right hand, as the future Hall of Famer threw it successfully as a jab and a power punch throughout the fight. Thurman adjusted in the middle rounds and began to try to smother Pacquiao and walk him down, having success when he was able to get his combinations off before his opponent.
Despite blood pouring from his nose from round four on, Thurman was able to land powerful combinations on Pacquiao for much of the second half of the fight, but was never able to hurt Pacquiao or score a knockdown of his own.
"I wish I had a little bit more output to go toe to toe," said Thurman. "I felt like he was getting a little bit tired, but he did have experience in the ring. My conditioning and my output was just behind Manny Pacquiao's. I would love the rematch."
In round 10, Pacquiao's landed a strong left hook to the body that clearly hurt Thurman and forced him to spend much of the remainder of the round backpedaling. The CompuBox scores were indicative of the close nature of the fight, with Thurman out landing Pacquiao 210 to 195, while Pacquiao was busier throwing 686 punches to 571 from Thurman.
"I really love the fans," said Pacquiao. "Thank you so much for coming here and witnessing the fight. I'm sure they were happy tonight because they saw a good fight. Even though Thurman lost, he did his best. He's not an easy opponent. He's a good boxer and he's strong. I was just blessed tonight."
Pacquiao had a large advantage in jabs landed, connecting on 82 to Thurman's 18. The 192 power punches landed by Thurman was the most in 43 Pacquiao fights that CompuBox has tracked. Round-by-round, the two fighters were only separated by more than five landed punches in rounds two, seven and nine.
After 12 rounds, the judges reached a split decision, with one judge scoring the fight 114-113 for Thurman, overruled by two judges scoring it 115-112 for Pacquiao, who captured the WBA Welterweight World Championship at 40-years-old.
"You get blessings and lessons," said Thurman. "Tonight was a blessing and a lesson. Thank you everybody, and thank you Manny Pacquiao."
"I think (I will fight) next year," said Pacquiao. "I will go back to the Philippines and work and then make a decision. I do hope to be at the (Errol) Spence vs. (Shawn) Porter fight on September 28."

People fail to really see how crazy this victory is. Thurman is an ELITE fighter capable of beating the best of the best out there. Before this fight, Thurman was beating the best welterweights at that moment in their prime. And now we saw a 40 year old Pacquiao beat this great fighter. When Pacman beats Oscar De La Hoya many said Dela hoya is too old to fight at 35yrs old. yet this is Pacman at 40yrs old obliterated Thurman 10yrs younger champion with a flash knockdown at the very first round. that is Legendary 💫
True but oscar by that time was abusing drugd ans alcohol not pacmans fault its de la hoyas so im not taking away credit but clearly how you age in boxing varies amd de la hoya in my opinion was a tremendous fighter but his style begun to change around age 32 or so and his athleticism wasnt as great in hid footwork or jab or power . It was honestly so different to see him fight past age 30 how much his style changed although he was elite clearly aging took a stronger toll in his boxing ability than pacman
This IMO is an all time great performance from the 40 year old Pacquiao. Whether or not Thurman was at his best, he’s a big and strong natural welter who Pacquiao not only flash KD’d early on, but later actually folded like a cheap suit en route to a close but clear decision. Credit to Thurman who I think was a great fighter when he was active, but this was an ATG exit performance from a high ranking ATG legend. Watching this fight live I was pacing around my room screaming at the television stunned at what I was witnessing. I, like many, picked Thurman to retire the aging Pacquiao. Yet he put the pieces together one final time to deliver this spectacular performance; one of the best ever from a 40+ year old non heavyweight. And I know people try to diminish this win by claiming Thurman himself was diminished, but regardless he actually fought a really good fight. Pac was just better this night. Scary good considering how old Pac actually was here, 40 is fucking ancient at welter.

What Pacman has not been fully credited for in his career was his granite chin. He absorbed bombs in this fight and in his other fights facing bigger fighters. It took a Fully Roided Marquez to KO this guy. Definitely belongs to the All Time Greats and is hands down Asia's GOAT boxer/fighter.
He caved in against marquez tho and Marquez is not at all power puncher.
@@tapsofosiris3110 Because Marquez is on roids. Imagine this, Pac absorbed all the punches from prime Welterweight / Middleweight heavy hitters like Margarito, Cotto, Mosley, Thurman, then suddenly a bloated Lightweight at 39 y/o suddenly became a hulk and ripped and put Pac to sleep by a single punch? It doesn't help that Marquez hired a convicted PED dealer Memo Heredia. Marquez is always a suspect to me on that 4th fight.

Paquiao bukan hanya petinju yg hebat namun cerita hidup tentang sejarah tinju dunia. Ramah di luar namun garang di atas ring bagi semua yg dia hadapi...dia idola dunia dan juga idolaku...👍👍👍👍👍👍

8:37 it’s all smiles to the buildup but the stare down before the bell rings, there’s a switch that gets flipped inside Manny
Excellent!
We will all miss MANNY For a LONG TIME.
Won't miss his fans though

boxing will nevere be the same. will miss u Manny Pacman!!!
Got Manny Pacquiao in my Generation,... Manny Pacquiao is the best while his older than Thurman his a touch figher!!
This fight is lowkey more entertaining that I remember it to be. Good fight!
It’s not even Manny’s A-Game anymore. It’s his B-Game beating a hungry, young, undefeated and (definitely) strong fighter in Keith Thurman. Thurman puts up a very strong A-game, but Manny’s a tactician now. Experience won him this fight. Max Kellerman was right when he said that Manny’s B-Game is better than many fighter’s A-Game today. Dang... Manny’s a beast. Sadly, there’ll be no Spence Vs. Pacman on Aug 21. Ugas v Pac is good, but not much as exciting as a Crawford or a Spence fight for him.
That wasn't the best of Thurman either. I dont know why, but he just doesn't have the quickness and lateral movement he used to have.
Obviously we can’t see any Manny’s A game due to his age and father time but as you said, his B game is still enough for these young boxers.
@@stellbell2.091 I don't think so for me he is in the Best shape but I think the reason why he does'nt show the game of speed you are saying is because PacMan is outspeed him and outbox him in term of strategy and skills even Manny is not already in his Prime Condition he is still a Beast and a Monster that enough to defeat those Boxer in this Era in their Prime. Because Manny is a Legend and it is still alive when he is on the Ring. I am still waiting who will defeat Manny and make him stop Boxing or it will never happen and no one can make it until he retired.
if it was Spence or crawford they would of obliterated pacquiao. don't get me wrong I love pacquiao but he is just not the same anymore he has to retire after this there's no way. pacquiao in his prime would be a different story
@@vicwastaken9522 he was like that because he was set up to fight a southpaw fighter, and those few days that he should have rest for the fight were used to adjust for ugas and now his legs cramped and became stiff because of over training
