Those 6 minutes where four goals were scored to take it from 1-0 to 5-0 were the craziest 6 minutes of football I have ever seen. It was absolutely surreal. It happens. In 1990, Germany won our third star. In 2001 we lost 5-1 to England in Munich. By 2014 we were World Champions again. It will happen again, in two or three more World Cups. We're right on schedule in our 20-24 year interval between victories.
This is the problem South American teams need to overcome. They lose their nerves when they trail by 2 goals or more. Which is why you rarely see South American teams winning by coming from behind nowadays. South America has more talented players than Europe, but Europeans have a better team spirit.
“Straight out of [a] young boy’s mind” cracked me up, but it is probably the most accurate description I’ve ever heard of this game. German coach Joachim Löw recently revealed in an interview with the German soccer and sports magazine 'kicker' that he actually raised his voice at halftime. First of all, to remind the players that they should be focused in the second half as he remembered the 4-4 draw against Sweden in which they were leading by 4 goals. Secondly, it mattered to him not to ridicule the Brazilians, especially not in their home country. He deserves a lot of credit for this, initiating the example the German team would set with their great yet humble play. Fans recognised and appreciated this and the vast majority of Germans were compassionate with the Brazilians rather than ridiculing them. All of this created a lot of respect for one another. Sometimes a match is more than just football and this was one of those instances. Löw first and foremost deserves to be lauded for this classy act. Without his address at halftime, the 'legacy' of this match might very well be a different one.
Wack. A 10-0 would of been colossal
And then you have the US women’s team disrespecting Thailand i believe and ridiculing them after every goal with the stupidest celebrations
They actually ridiculed Brazil already in the first half. The fact Löw told them to hold back in the second ridiculed Brazil even more because they were no match to the Germans at this point anymore. So I would have told them to just keep on, if the match ended 14-0 it wouldn't have changed the outcome anyways, it was decided from the point they started the match. There was too much pressure on the Brazilian team.
This is the worst for us Brazilians, we can't even hate the Germans, they were so respectful not only in this game but all the time they were here in Brazil. In the end we were all rooting for Germany in the final against Argentina

I still remember watching this with friends and, after the 4th or 5th goal, thinking "No...stop...I want you to win...but not like this!" It was such a wild game for everyone, but as a Germany supporter it had my jaw on the floor.
Imagine if germany decided they wanted to break all records possible so they would play as hard as they could to score as much as possible. It would end with 20 goals
And Brazil definitely wouldn't have scored that one goal at the end, either. It was obvious that the Germans weren't really trying too hard to stop them.
After the second half, I noticed Germany wasn't playing as hardcore. The last goal for Brazil was probably a pity goal to not humiliate them.
@@syltekisbored Agreed. Brazil was lucky this happened against Germany and not Argentina--La Albiceleste would have reveled in a chance to embarrass them.
@@mam162 argentina 2014 would have definitely destroyed the brazillians at this stage. They were very lucky it was germany

One of my favourite games ever, watching it in real-time was amazing🤩
Just imagine that one dude in the stadium, who needed to use the bathroom in the 20th minute and comes back in the 29th, seeing the scoreline
Towards the final 15 minutes you can hear the whole stadium singing a german folk song: "What a day, as beautiful as today. Such a day should never end"
As a German, this match as special and great, but also so absurd experience. In fact, this actually was the first match I ever watched! Now, I hope our nation AND our players will become so angry and aggressive like the have been in 2014 for 2024. Defeat after defeat and disgrace, that a stabbing against all European nations will happen. I am unfortunately disappointed and also sad about how Germany became overall between 2018 and 2022 Edit: I don't mean however, that we actually stab people. What I mean is, that the German players finally get rid of most of their weaknesses and fear and collect their anger, so they can let their collected frustration out next year
If this song is sung at a sports match you just know it was a great game for your team ❤
18:58 What a clean tackle by one of the best defenders of all time!
true
First comment I've seen talking about that tackle What a beautiful tackle it was
Best Game ever in Football history! Watch it once every year. As well 1990 final, and those two games are iconic!
I mean, we understand that you-re german and it may be fun for you, its fun for me too, but I would consider a more competitive and thrilling game to label it "best game ever"
Das beste Spiel, dass ich je von der deutschen Mannschaft gesehen habe!! Einfach legendär!!!
I remember the day of this match. I chose to watch a film in the cinema instead of watching the game. After the film finished and I walked home I still remeber how in every sports bar along the way home there were 20+ people standing infront and watching the game. Every 2 minutes everyone was celebrating because yet another goal was scored.
And at that time you realized you're missing out on the humiliation of the century.
@@supremedealer6697 Cope Brazil is still better than Germany will ever be. This match was just a fluke.

I remember watching this game with my Brazilian roomate. He cried like a little girl, it was hysterical ^^
You can really see how Germany broke their mentality. We see a motivated, skilled Team Unit against an demolished unstable Brazil. This match and the final afterwards were insane, sad our nation Team fall that hard after the 2014 WC.
An absolute legendary moment in sports history. A tragic day for Brazilian fans, but a day of complete triumph for the Germans. My favorite team of this world cup even in the group stages went out and stomped Brazil into the ground
😢.
As a brazilian I was so angry about all this cup stuff here, because it was a way to hide all the government corruption, that I was cheering for Germany all the game.
It makes the defeat even worse that the Germans behaved perfectly, never overcelebrating, and consoling the Brazilians after the game. They looked like this result was expected and it came so easily for them.

Whenever i feel a little bit down I usually come back to here and watch this game.
I was just a normal german guy in puberty when our class went to Bergamo to watch this. There was a room full of our class and some other germans in a cellar of a bar. When we went upstairs to grab some beers after the 5-0 every single Italian person who watched the game upstairs was applauding our team. Surreal moment, surreal night... still gives me goosebumps.
One of the events in life where you exactly know where you witnessed it.
the respect among players after a match as such....BEAUTIFUL.
It's interesting to watch the dynamics of development of the game: from the confident start of Brazilians during the first 10-15 minutes to the decline of their will and confidence in their strength. After the 3rd goal the team had already nothing common with what it was like in the start.
And they still have not recovered. And Argentina now having got closer to them.
@@a-dutch-z7351 what do you mean about Argentina?
@@user-zl1hs6ct2c They won another WC whilst they have been standing still.
MBAPPE >>>>> MARADONA os números não mentem
To be honest that was kind of expactable. Before the match I was like: "Yeah, the Brazilians will sing their anthem with pride and start the match with much determination but quickly they will see that they are just not capable of messing with this German side and as soon as Germany scores the first time, they would be like 'f*ck, what now? We have no clue how to deal with them and no idea how to stand a chance at all!' and sort of fall apart." But I would have never expected something like THIS! I thought it would be 4-0, 5-1 or the like after 90 minutes but it was just 5-0 after 25min played... It's 7-1 only because Germany slowed down. If they would have continued as if nothing has happend, it would have been something around 15-0 in the end. It's just crazy.
One of the best german teams of all times.
I will never forget this match - I watched in a Hotel Bar in Montego Bay / Jamaica and as the match was over , i jumped with all my clothes on into the pool including the German Condor pilot who was also watching the match with us.
that tackle from lahm on marcelo is so iconic. His walkaway was legendary

i am a german fan in the 2002 final i was 10 years old, i fell ill with a fever when germany lost and i was thinking when will this defeat be avenged, brazil football is very strong with a lot of amazing players. And this 2014 I can't believe the number of German goals, until 2022 I feel this German victory is like an unreal dream
It felt great tho, also the late scorer against Argentina

I was 13 yrs old at that time. I was watching it with my family. I still remember clearly what I felt and how my family reacted. I think every brazilian who cares about football went through the 7 stages of grief that day, I mean, except for hope.
"I will be showing you highlights after the match well lowlights for Brazil" The commentator was just as shocked as the rest of the world and he was simply giving natural reactions rather than going technical. Loved his voice and commentary.
Jeder der dass Ergebnis heute noch Feiert👍 Einfach unvergesslich 🇩🇪🏆
I'm no football expert, but even on the first goal, the corner kick, the Brazilians seemed flat, without energy. It's like none of them had any sleep, even though it was a home game.
The days of the great Miroslav Klose, one of my favorite players. I was supporting Germany, I thought the game with Brazil would be tough and hard, especially on their Home Turf. But when Müeller scored that first goal, I had a feeling it was over. When Klose scored, it definitely was. Also when Brazil scored a goal, my father said: "There goes Neuer's clean sheet." We laughed in disbelief of what just happened, crazy game, crazy world cup.
