  • This movie was so disturbing. Not because it was gruesome, but Mia Goth's acting is so good that every time she started to scream or have a mental breakdown it gave me so much anxiety.

    • The family dinner and confrontation with Mittsy both made my blood run cold, those scenes were so well crafted and really immersed you in the film I feel like. The actual killing in the movie was anxiety inducing, but the dread of the characters interacting was where the real horror lied IMO. Mia killed it in this, pun maybe intended.

X was a fun and scary good time but this prequel built a back story for a character who didn’t need one and yet it doesn’t at all diminish the horror of the original character. Though, I will definitely watch "X" after seeing this masterpiece! The story and characters (especially Pearl herself) are excellent and very well written. The titular character is a perfect embodiment of dangerous ambition and delusion of grandeur while also demanding some form of compassion from the audience, as Pearl's hopes, dreams and wants are relatable enough to invoke empathy. Even though that empathy flies right out the window the moment she impales another poor soul with a pitchfork, haha. The acting performances of Mia Goth are nothing but surreal! I've never seen her on screen before, but I will definitely keep her on my radar as she's a force to be reckoned with, an absolute marvel to watch explode (you'll know what I mean after seeing this). The sinister fear of the expected yet unexpected just rattles my deep love for the genre, as disturbing as it is to many people. They do it like none other and I praise them for them. Mia Goth is going to be just absolutely legendary in this and I hope for once they receive an Oscar. The quality they put out is incomparable to the rest. They outdo themselves each and every time. The long monologue scene, while written beautifully and gets to the core of her character, I would never believe that her character would spontaneously come up with all that. And very nice of Mitsy to let Pearl finish her "Oscar bait speech". And the smile at the end that people keep raving about, just doesn't fit at all. Yes, it's creepy, but it is also so clearly overacted it becomes laughable. I think Mia Goth still did a great job with many scenes in the movie, and she is a talented actress, but she clearly tried too hard at times. That said, I think it was still a good movie. • Anyone else notice that they merged Jenna Ortega's scream from X with that of the rooster crowing in the beginning of the trailer or just me? Also, goddamn, I am so looking forward to this. X is my 3rd favorite movie so far this year (behind Everything Everywhere All At Once at #1 and The Black Phone at #2), but this film looks even better and even more insane and I can't wait!
